I have the opportunity to purchase a LUDWIG classic maple snare drum produced in the early 2000s( 14"x6,5") ,It is in perfect condition and the owner is asking €500. Seems high to me. Those drums are fairly cheap in the US.
The maple drum you already have is fine.
Try a brass or steel drum.
