  • Hey… It’s been a while. I know I’ve been distant, but please know it wasn’t my intention to make you feel abandoned. I was going through some changes and everything was coming at me so fast. I didn’t have the time to fully process what was going on and slowly found myself getting lost in the motions. But I’m ready now. So to fill you in on what’s been happening. Let’s rewind a bit.

Tiii she's still under contract. Her management has been so lenient with her. Reckless talaga lumabag sa kontrata. Iba na to sa utang na loob ang pinaguusapan dito is being grateful.....the latter is what here management is asking for in addition to respect. Through the duration of her contact desisyon palagi si ate gurl. I'm impartial neither a fan of both sides pero tiiii kahit saang culture naman ata nageexist ang gratefulness. Happy na happy sa life niya pero panay kuda sa process of getting there.... I mean...... Guuuuurrllll?? Pinautang sila ng milyones without interes te! Kaya Whatchumean hahaha. Did you really think you can follow your passion without making sacrifices on your journey getting there. Lemme just say sis is pretty and fact is pretty people get away with almost everything.
Alsooooo miss maam couldve just paid her way to get out of the contract. Like pay for a breech of contract settlement and shit? The math aint really mathin' boo
Dami niyo eme kung chaka to si inday puro na batikos narinig nito.....and that's the toxic pinoy culture youre looking for siz. Not utang na loob (which is also fucking toxic af but dzai not in this context)

I read articles about Liza being not grateful for her past achievements and career but watching this video is the opposite. This girl just taking a different path, rediscovering herself, and that's just a new motivation. I think this rebranding of her is brave. I want to see Liza step out from generic genres and see more of her hidden talents. Way to go Liza. You're an inspiration.

    • @juanluna9112

There is a difference between not grateful and 'just taking a different path'. Not being grateful means unappreciative or in Tagalog, walang utang na loob. 'Just taking a different path' simply means choosing a career path. They are not the same as can be seen/heard on the video.

But that setup made her a star! That single male co-star and three directors she worked with helped her to get a name in the industry. I don't know if it's just how it was written in this picture/article, but she sounded ungrateful; could have used the words, I'm grateful to have worked for 13 years being paired with (name of actor) and worked with 3 great directors (names), to sound appreciative because even though she felt boxed, it still benifited her. There's no problem with wanting to explore and be independent, but never forget your starting point, be humble! Because we might not now, if we don't succeed exploring, we'll come back from where we started. Don't burn bridges.

So we're supposed to be impressed dahil 20% lang Ang cut ng bago mong management sa kita mo? You get what you pay for. They can't even clean up the mess that you made bago ka lumipad papuntang US uli. Maliit bayad mo kaya limited service nila. Back when you were under the umbrella of your former management, you were under the blanket of their protection. Malinis ang pangalan mo noon. At kung may issue, madaling naayos. Ngayon, kalat mo, ligpitin mo. Sariling sikap sa publicity, good or bad.
Good deal. Kasi nga, you get what you pay for.
Nothing they've touched has turned into gold yet. If anything, whatever they touch turns into shite.
When will you realize that you are in the company of leeches? These people will suck you until you are dry, and then they'll move on to the next willing victim. Best to cut your losses and just leave.

    Hi Hope!
I can relate to you a lot. I'm 25 now but for 24 years of my life, I've always been a sheltered one. Always doing what my parents want for me. So before the year 2022 ended, I've decided to leave our house and live independently on my own. A lot of my friends were shocked at what I've done, knowing fully that I'm the youngest and always being a filial one.
I've encountered panic attacks, anxiety and depression in 2022 for the entire year. My parents knew only the tip of the reason why, but the entire thing is about my freedom.
I want to know myself, challenge myself and be out there with people. The pandemic made me distant myself from being social and it gave me lots of distress.
Kudos to your decision to finally speak up and act on your own accord! It was always a brave thing to get out of our comfort zone but you did it for your peace and happiness. I hope that you'll always remember who you really are. That you are "Hope" before you were "LIZA"

Filipinos in general has a very linear perspective about career, or life in general. For many, they think a happy life is just getting a stable job or career, lots of material stuff, complete family, and a lot more. But personal happiness is uniquely defined by each of us. Just let people discover their happiness, pursue their talents and dreams. If you have sons and daughters, siblings, or loved ones… wouldn’t you support their dreams or goals in life? i think this is why philippines is a poor country. or even filipinos in general. because we all are "grateful" with less even though we deserve and CAN reach something more. we choose to settle for less and encourage other people to do the same instead of takings risks to boost your career. "dont be too ambitious, be thankful na mayroon kang ganyan." so you choose to be complacent. this is what makes our culture so stagnant. you all are so afraid of change and progress that you choose to "be grateful nalang for what you have." i call this toxic positivity

You only point out the part where she wants to pursue her own path. Wala namang masama dun. People are very supportive of that. But what about the part where she kinda dissed her former handlers by only talking about how she was put in a box, controlled, only paired to one leading man, exposed to only 3 genres, never had a say in her career, etc.. ? D ba puro nega?!

Nakakatakot itong bagong version mo. This new you, parang di uso sa yo yung loyalty at gratitude. Natatakot ako para kay Quen, dahil feeling ko you'll betray him if it serves your own personal interests.
Baka makita nyo hinahanap nyo.

The amount of hate she's gaining recently is so disgusting and sad at the same time. The time where she decided to put herself first, listen to her own, decide for her own, and live for her own, became the time where people hate on her and call her ungrateful. Which is the total opposite of what she's been saying. The way people take her words so shallowly and put negative interpretations on it to make her look petty and ungrateful is extremely upsetting. She IS grateful and appreciative. But the whole time in her career, she just felt like a flower that is moving and growing into what people want to see, not into what she want to be. And now that she's grown and realized the path the she wants to take, she is letting go and starting new. And that's a beautiful thing! This is exactly why it was so hard to announce this type of growth and decision to the world in the first place, because people take it so negatively. Despite the shallow and hateful comments she's been getting, I hope she would still believe that this is the best decision for her and that so many of her fans are still supporting her. She's going to move forward with her career and achieve her dreams to prove it to HERSELF and not to anyone else. We are rooting for you, Hope!

One of the things I pick up from this vlog is that it's never too late to start something new and to take risks. Never let someone hold you back and stop you from realizing your full potential. You have broken a cycle Hope, and I hope the showbiz industry here in PH can take this into consideration to finally make a change with the way things are right now.

I only have two liked videos in TH-cam since I started this account 5 years ago. One of those videos is this one. I give so much respect and value to people and stories like this one. Stories associated with people making wise but difficult decisions in their lives. Stories of enlightenment and profound wisdom. Much respect to you, Hope. I was never wrong about how I felt about you. I always knew there's something special about your energy. I felt the same energy with Catriona Gray in 2019 and even with Sam Milby a long time ago when I read an article about his philosophy about love and relationships in the newspaper. The tabloid even titled the article, "you shouldn't take Sam Milby's advice on relationships" or something like that. Well, I was one of those people who did take his advice-actually, no-I already shared the same belief as his at that moment. What's funny is that Sam and Catriona are together now and are, in fact, engaged. What are the odds?
Because of this great decision you made in your life, I am very proud to see my favourite female artist in the entire Philippine show business-I'm not even exaggerating. You really are my favourite, but it's not about your talent but your personal character as for my judgement to your philosophies-taking her huge leap in life after her spiritual journey. Figures like you truly inspire me to take my own spiritual journey more seriously. Indeed, you are one of the best gifts from God. Thank you for opening your journey to us. 👏
P.S The other video that I 'liked' is Prince Ea's "Quitting Social Media (2023)."

This is the second filipino artista I have seen take on this journey and it really opens my eyes a lot to the commitment to the fans and management artistas have compared to US actors and actresses. I recently started watching FIlipino movies to aid in learning the language (I'm a first gen Filipino American) and was commenting to my husband how it seems like the Philippines really really typecasts their actors and keeps them in the same roles with the same people who are also playing the same roles. Congrats to Ms Hope Soberano for reclaiming her name. It might be my American lens, but to me she does not sound ungrateful for everything her typecasting has brought her.... but simply she outgrew that and wants more. If you, as a manager, do not want your artist to expand their craft and to grow... are they even a person to you? Or just a profit?

It’s really frustrating seeing artists in the Philippines get typecast & stay in the same roles & same spot all their lives

Good for you.The financial freedom that you gained from the 13 years of hard work from showbiz gave you the freedom, power and confidence to choose your path now. You were able to provide the needs for your family in US and Philippines. Now it's time for your wants which is what you really deserve. It's part of your journey. Every one has to start somewhere. Just like when we start working on our first job. You don't tell the company or your boss this is what I want, this is my hours or this is my choice, this is how I work. You put your best foot forward, you show them you are the best fit for the job, you are willing to be trained etc. All those good work ethics, patience, experiences, "the willing to learn and be trained attitude" and exposures in your career molded you to become who you are now. It appears to me that you're not happy of those things that made you who you are right now. Life is a journey. Enjoy the bumpy ride. You are very lucky that you are pursuing your dreams and aspirations. At least you are in the same industry that you really like which is entertainment.Meanwhile most of the ordinary people have to work to earn a living in a highly stressful, essential jobs. A lot of people I know wanted to be in your field rather than the healthcare field they are currently in. The reason? they have to pay the bills and support their family. They need a stable living. So continue to be happy, positive and grateful for the people who help you along the way. Please don't make them feel like the bad characters in the story of your life.

Of course Liza said naman she is grateful but still those directors that she mentioned are 3 of the best and they helped you Liza and Ken with your career. That's her difference with Kisses, because Kisses though she change her management she never said anything bad towards her last management through and through she is very respectful and grateful. I just hope that she will clear this things... But with regards to changes in your career go for it... Just don't disregard those people who made you famous and your past because that will help you with everything you want to achieve... Just because she achieved those things with her old management doesn’t mean she can’t point out the industry’s short comings & her personal experiences. Have they watched the whole vlog? She literally said its about “gratefulness” in the end. She’s grateful and thanked her old management. She said it in the video herself. And told us about her story since the public is asking about it, she just stated that her interest doesn’t align with her previous management & that she wants growth. Now, she just wants to make a decision for herself, in her own terms.

Self-discovery and growth is normal part of life. Cguro, the way Liza delivered some lines medyo ang dating kasi is ungrateful for others. But for sure, she is grateful for everything that made her today, all she wants now, now that is she is half way with her 20s, is some freedom to pursue her true goals. to learn, to study, to experiment....and she has all the rights to pursue what she wants. Boy and Ogie are old enough to be able to understand that most people undergo this phase in life...and to understand that younger people may not be that good in discerning on how to convey messages or intentions. wishing the best for everyone!

Growing, maturing, evolving, changing is inevitable. You are entitled to 'rebrand' to take a different path, to find happiness and to pursue your passion what you are not allowed to do is to BITCH about your past. The past that made you- LIZA SOBERANO, one of the most sought after celebrities.
Walang masama sa ginagawa mong pagbabago ang MASAMA is sa statements mo you HURT people. People who have helped you, people who have supported you, people who were responsible in making you a household name.
Truth be told, you are not that great of an actress. Your manager was GOOD- why? because what you have is a PRETTY FACE only. You cannot dance gracefully, you cannot sing as in sing, your acting has not improved from first serye to your last movie.
You're a mediocre actress but you're quite charming and loveable. People overlooked your so-so acting because the people who you've worked with were awesome. The editing, the angles, the scripts made up for what you lack in terms of acting.
WORKING HARD as an ACTOR doesn't mean MAGALING KANG ACTRESS. LAHAT NAMAN NG TRABAHO NAKAKAPAGOD kaya nga WORK hindi RELAK lol
You were not BOXED the team played things SAFE for YOU and of course for THEM DIN. Afterall, it is a business. WIN-WIN.
You're a product, they had to sell you and they were successful.
I am not sure why it seems like you have this pent up RESENTMENT towards your LIZA PAST. Every time na bumubuka bibig mo puro REKLAMO, PURO UNGRATEFULNESS, and no don't tell us we're misunderstanding, we're not getting it. DO NOT GASLIGHT us with that scheisse.
Now pati FAMILY mo pinilit ka mag artista LOL.
Twisted! Ikaw lang may karapatan magsalita????
DO NOT SAY I AM GRATEFUL, SHOW IT.
DO NOT SAY I AM REBRANDING, DO IT.
DO NOT SAY I AM CHANGING, MAKE IT HAPPEN.
I HOPE you think twice thrice before you open your mouth again. You're with CARELESS and I guess AKMA.

Na parang her former management pa dapat ang may utang na loob sa kanya after she and her family were able to live a more than comfortable life off the career that she was given. Na parang fans pa ang may kasalanan dahil tinangkilik sya bilang the mediocre half of a love team that she claims she was boxed in on.

Most celebrities, local and foreign, usually thank the fans for all the love and support. Ikaw kakaiba. Yes, you say that you're grateful. Then on the next breath you say things that mean otherwise. You praise the international audience for not giving a crap about clout-chasing, which is a slight to Filipino fans. You say it's bad for mental health to be stuck in one pairing and only Filipino audience are avid supporters of love teams. (By the way, that's incorrect. Check how many actors and actresses are paired together often, from William Powell and Myrna Loy, to Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, I could go on.). You seem to put the blame on fans who supported your love team and made it a success and made you popular, because you say you got stuck in a box. You fault the fans of love teams for the kilig that they feel, as if it's their fault that they find entertainment watching love teams on TV and films in order to take a break from their problems in life. You don't think that it's good for them to take mental healthbreaks?
You seem to take offense that your fans want more for you than being a clout-chasing kpop groupie. Your fans who scream your name whenever you're on stage. The same ones who made sure your tv shows and movies were a hit. The same fans who bought the stuff you endorsed. You claim that you'll make the Filipinos proud of you when you conquer Hollywood. But how can you claim Filipino pride when it's obvious that you think so low of the Filipino audience? I know you'll claim that your words have been misinterpreted yet again. Then maybe you should think before you speak. Your words started all this. Get a publicist, for goodness sake. It'll cut into your earnings but it'll be worth it, if only to have someone professional to put the fire out whenever you start burning bridges again.
