      It's just as important to quash that people pleasing mindset that Filipinos have especially when it's the older people that want to perpetuate it. Mental health services are a band-aid to the root problem. As a PH myself I completely understand the debt of gratitude (utang na loob) thing and THAT is the cause of mental anguish for some people doing things they don't want to, but just "tiis lang" (smile and bear it).

    So refreshing for a Filipino celebrity not being asked about her love life and talk more about important topics like her journey in hollywood, movie, family and mental health. Even so Rachel mentioned they checked Liza's profile and all, for sure they saw Enrique Gil somewhere but never asked about it. More interviews like this. I am now a Liza Soberano fan.

    Mental Health awareness is a concern in many communities not just in the Philippines but in Asia. The stigma is slowly being unpacked and on mass media, there has been more active discussion and recognition because of the pandemic. But may I just say that Liza Soberano is not a known advocate of mental health awareness in the Philippines among celebrities. There are so many others who have been speaking publicly about it for years and she just jumped in the bandwagon. There's Rica Peralejo, Angel Locsin. Pia Wurtzbach, Nadine Lustre etc. The bigger problem about the lack of awareness and discussion is the COST of diagnosis and therapy. The Philippines does not have a good public healthcare system and it constrains Filipinos from accessing mental heath diagnosis and care. I am born and raised in the Philippines and it's always welcome for people like Liza Soberano to help put the spotlight on issues that need discussion but the way Liza Soberano does it always seem to put the Philippines in a negative light. My impression is that she speaks out with little empathy about the ways of thinking of Filipinos and how best to reach out to Filipinos. When she comes out in platforms outside of the Philippines, she's always highlighting the negative in the obvious way - which I think is shallow and obviously used for her personal brand promotion. Filipinos are not dumb. We can tell when a celebrity is authentic in being concerned about Filipinos - in words and in actions. I hope those with mental health issues in the Philippines receive the care they need.

    Definitely true because here in the Philippines, you have to present yourself as "perfect, well-rounded" person despite all flaws or limitations you have because showing them is a sign of weakness. Instead of facing and dealing with internal/external issues head on (having an honest conversation with others) we choose to ignore them and let time deal with it because we here believe those issues will eventually go away. Thank youuuuuu Lisa for being honest about this and wish you the very best luck for your movie career. 🙂🙏❤

    Ms. Liza Soberano is not considered as an ordinary filipino..She's not even totally grew in the Philippines as an ordinary Filipino do..She's from other part of the world, not even lived or raised in such a common ways as most Filipino do. Her goal here in the Philippines was to build name for show business and building a dream for her family with former co-workers and she was too focused on that part of her life when she was here in the Philippines that's why she had a bank on her bed compared to less fortunate girls out here. That's why also she can't relate to much about the true culture here..Maybe she read articles or heard some things like colonization but she can't relate to it too much as most ordinary filipino do. 😐Every part of the Philippines is different..Some are living in a more liberated way and some choose to be more conservative especially for a lot of seniors out there.😅Some wants to adopt more in modern state of mind than traditional concept and Ms. Liza should accept that too..If you can't accept that fact, you will never be too happy and it's better to just left this country and live in a country that will give you satisfaction for true happiness.😯Life is short but too complicated as modern world does to it..But simplicity will give us the true inner peace, so don't be too confusing/worrying too much to understand a lot of things happening everywhere.😯

    ano ba dapat gawin sa taong tumulong sa buhay mo? Like my tita na pinag aral kaming magkapatid at iba ko pang pinsan? enough na ba na magsabi ako ng "thank you for helping me" and that's it! I value utang na loob so much, yung tita ko ngaun inaabutan ko ng pera kasi matanda na sya at walang work. and yung ibang pinsan ko na hindi naniniwala sa utang na loob ay tinalikuran na sya, kasi daw habang pinapaaral naman daw sila eh tumutulong naman daw sila sa gawaing bahay. Tumulong din ako sa gawaing bahay, pero never ako nag isip nang ganon, as much as possible tutulong ako saa kanya habang nabubuhay pa sya. Iba talaga yung mindset ng taong may utang na loob at walang utang na loob.

    So many artist aim high. Filipinos and world-class talent and we always celebrate their success as part of our own. Liza has proven time and again why she needed to be guided and managed. She is a loose cannon. Fast forward to the present, she is now using the classic underdog/victim card as a base line of her career in Hollywood. She is using the Filipinos as the antagonist in her story to get some attraction for her career.Speaking “her truth” is not a problem but what she is doing is generalizing and portraying the Filipino people negatively.. like i said her truth is not always the truth. She can explore and do what ever as she like “for her growth” without putting the people (manager/previous management/ Phil. Industry) in a bad light,, knowing the fact that these are the people who helped her so she is the Liza soberano that she is now.

      I totally agree with Liza.😢 It so hard to be talking about mental health here in the Philippines.. I had a few attempts before. I'm not sure if I had PPD that wasn't addressed after giving birth to my 2nd child then within the same yr my dad died which really made how I feel even worst.. I also experience being taken for granted by my husband ( wanted to end things with him but we have 3 children at that time) I tried to open up how I felt and still feel but most ppl I talk to would be dismissive about it and say "nasa utak mo lng yan.. yang ngang mahihirap dian di naman gnyan at kumakayod lng para mabuhay ." (it's all in your head.. those people who less fortunate doesn't complain about their mental well being they just strive harder to survive)... there are moments that burst out in tears, I feel guilty if I become aggresive towards my children if I can't contain my emotions.. ( not to the point that I become violent though. I just lock myself up in our room sobbing til I shut my eyes ) uugghh.. I wanted to have myself check but like Liza said it's not affordable 😢.. What I usually do is that I would just draw or read or watch masterchef to divert these emotions and thoughts.💔🩷💔

    The facade that Liza is talking about actually applies only to actors/actresses in the Philippines. True, mental health clinic is not that common in the Philippines probably because most people here are Christians and we trust God and treat trials or problems are there to strengthen us. Filipinos are sociable and have close family ties and we love music and singing. All of these probably help us overcome our stress and anxiety. Liza is just honest about what she felt when she was an artist in the Philippines. I hope Filipinos will support her like I do. 😊

      I supposed mental health problems are more common to people who are well-off, successful and in a higher echelons of society coz they have all the material stuffs like riches, popularity and power but are empty inside compared to those who are less privileged in life but are simple & contented with whatever they have and not being ambitious

    • @haru13434
      @haru13434 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      No, they do not apply only to actors/actresses. I've had a major in Psychology and worked in the corporate setting as a Human Resource professional. It's almost a systemic problem. People just want to present the best version or image of themselves and are too afraid to even be themselves. Even just commenting or saying a joke, blending within a group at work, you'd feel that. It's ingrained in our culture because we were raised in a culture where people just aren't not that authentic, we think too much of what other people will think of us. We think trials and tribulations are there to strengthen us and that we'll do our best to keep it all together, and that it's okay not to talk about it.

In case you're not familiar, Star Magic trained and launched her into stardom, which was great but she used to be profiled as the perfect girl and was never given challenging roles.
