I applaud you for loving your job and working the night shift. As a nurse for more than 35 years, I could never do it. But you nurses who do, what would we do without you? Great, informative video!!
I LOVEEEE working the nightshift, it literally can fit into your life if you want it to! Do not over think it all!! That is the biggest mistake I see happening!
Thank you! I have worked nights 22 years - when i see managers, and family, and doctors I know its time to give report, and get my stuff and leave !! Larry M. Rothgeb RN BSN
Night shift is crucial for me! I love it. You definitely get hired quicker with 3rd shift. I love taking care of business all day , getting a nap in then heading into 11-7 shift. It’s perfect if you have no kids & a night owl lol! ❤️
I love this video because it is about thriving as a night shift nurse. Most videos are about surviving the night shift which does not feel as exciting to me. I graduate nursing school in December and I want to work straight nights so that I can build my skills and confidence in a slower-paced bedside environment that is still challenging hard work.
Love love love nightshift. Ive been doing it now for 3 years and honeslty I feel more productive both work and non-work days and once you get used to it and find a schedule that works for you, its a game changer.....can we talk about the shift diff too LOL
My heart (pun intended) melted when I read that you work in cardiac electrophysiology!! Recently had a procedure done that gave me my normal life back.. I hope you know that we patients appreciate you so much!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I work with people who have learning disabilities, I do night shifts and 24hr sleep ins, it's hard work on your body and mind. Keep doing what your doing 😊
Single mom, worked 7p-7a shifts in city 1 hour away. Kids in jr and sr high, they would already be at school by the time I got home. I had to have 8hrs uninterrupted sleep. If back to backs, left @ 5:15p leave for work, again. Many different facilities since then, but until last job which was days in a clinic, worked nights or 2nd shifts . Now, I’m disabled, but still stay up late, wake up late. Cherokees were my fav, too
I’m a night shift RT... absolutely hated the vibe on daylight. Don’t ever think I could go back! The hardest parts about being on nights is disciplining yourself to sleep. It’s tempting to go out and do things during the day but then it’s so much harder to stay awake at work.
Thank you for being so optimistic and real with night shifts. I think attitude is a big factor on whether or not a person will succeed working nights. I was extremely nervous to work nights because I am not a night owl, but I think it is possible to adjust. Seems taking care of your body and eating healthy also combats a lot of the bad statistics that come with night shift.
This is super helpful!! For my preceptorship I will have to do night shift and have been freaking out over it. Thank you so much! I feel like it's totally doable now 💕
I’m so happy I stumbled upon your video! I used to work night shift in a Cardiovascular ICU and I loved it!! Your personality reminds me a lot of my own😊 Subscribed! ✔️
i work 4 time zone shifts, 2 morning 2 afternoon 2 nights 2 off, those 2 days at night in one week kills me. we willl see if i get better not smoking bud and see how it affect me. but i work behind machines and have to walk alot. so its pretty hard work actually, i got used to it. but i would still like some tips for night work except sleep before night shift. i do not eat food at night because i can have my energy more in control. only drink, yerba mate tea, or just a tiny snack. Thanks for sharing you are too beautiful. ;)
TimeNow AndThen hello I have business for you ..... it’s a lil immoral but you don’t really have to do anything hectic .... just with your phone .... you don’t have to invest anything either .... if you interested get at me and let me show you the little part you’ll play and we share 40/60 on every deal too
Same. I work night shift as well and feel like I was born to work night shift. Lol I’m also a super deep sleeper and get about 5ish hours of sleep. I also love rainy weather and my family thinks I’m weird for that. 🤷🏻♀️
How do manage working out and working nighshifts , I am currently working 11p-7a , as soon as I get home I sleep and wake up around 3p , but I do get really sleep at work at times ? What do you recommend me change so I can feel rested and have time to manage my life as well and not sleep all day
I dont know if you figured it out or still work night shift but, I have the same schedule i feel like when i go to bed at 9 and wake up at 5 thats the best way to not feel tired at work and to still get to enjoy some of the afternoon.
I am going to start working night shift in 2 weeks and this video was so helpful for me mentally prepare myself. Also can you please upload the link for your under shirt!!
What I want to know is how do you not want to fall asleep after only get an hour nap for a night shift I have to sleep at least eight or nine hours for me to work an 8-hour shift overnight cuz by 3 a.m. man I feel like a zombie
Hi Lacey! Im currently going in night shifts but im really worried about circadian disruption and other heart diseases. If i successfully get on with my schedule with enough rest, will i be in good health like the rest of other normal people?
Lacey Magen , I am trying my best to find my balance because i do both nights and day shifts....so I work 2 nights in a row and take 2 days off and work 2 days in a row....so my only issue i have had lately now than before.....is having to sleep after a night shift...thats always my main question/ concern ☺️
@@DeeNurse89 yesss a common problem!! In the caption I linked the melatonin that I use and the fan and blackout curtains! I make sure I head RIGHT TO BED after my shift!
Hi there, I’m a new subscriber. What would you say is the hardest thing to get used to on night shift? I’m a student still but really want to do nights, I don’t know why lol. Great video!
What do you mean by opportunities from working night shift? I just moved back home and I typically only work days. Unfortunately night shift is the only thing I could find right now 🤷🏽♀️ While the hours bother my body physically, I do find nights a little more relaxing. During the day I’m lucky to get a bathroom break 😬
So, do you work your days in a row? How late do you sleep if your not going back in? I find the next day after I work my days in a row to be the hardest. My body thinks it should be sleeping because it is light out.
nicole anderson if not going back in I’ll sleep 4 hours and then get up and go. Anything less than 3 hours and I feel physically sick waking up. If I have only one night off before going back to work I’ll stick to the night shift schedule to keep it easy on myself. It doesn’t interfere with family and friends too much because we’ll see each other when we’re waking up/coming home
I applaud you for loving your job and working the night shift. As a nurse for more than 35 years, I could never do it. But you nurses who do, what would we do without you? Great, informative video!!

Lacey Magen Curious. What’s your nurse patient ratio on night shift at your hospital?
Vanessa Linares 12?!?!!!! Is it med surg or home?
In hospital I can only work nights, because I hate all the families hovering over you. Omg
Thank you! I have worked nights 22 years - when i see managers, and family, and doctors I know its time to give report, and get my stuff and leave !! Larry M. Rothgeb RN BSN
Larry Rothgeb HELL YES!!!! Say it for my peeps in the back!
Larry, hell yes...see everyone and I’m OUT!!

Night shift was so hard for me the first 5 months but I have grown to love it!
Not only Rain but cloudy days that help the little cracks of light through the windows stay dim

This is my first time watching your videos and I can say I relate so much! I work graveyards as a Pharm Tech and I love it too!
Thank you for sharing! I could never do night shift. I tried it right after I graduated and couldn't hang! Days for me!
Of course! It isnt for everyone!

Absolutely, it can be done you just can't overthink it too much! Good luck!
I think night shift is perfect for those of us who are natural night owls, and kid free! I don’t know how I would make it worth with kids though.

I feel like i just recieved a million dollars after my night shift and see its raining outside
Totally agree that I sleep so much better on night shift than normal shift even if it is for less hours
Totally agree with the night shift sleep, I usually only sleep until 1-2pm post nights but I always sleep so hard I don’t even move 😂
Great video thanks for sharing!
Night time is the right time!
Awesome video!
Thanks so much for your video , which was super insightful. Can I ask what the most stressful and tiring aspects of your job are?
where do you specify in? like NICU, Pediatrics,, etc

In the uk allllll the hospital staff have to be ‘bare below the elbow’ so they can wash their forearms
Can you do a video on your thoughts on CNA's

kennedra same! Just moved to CO and the only available shifts here is nights :’(
Do you think it’s easier to work consecutive days or have it back to back?
You seem so passionate I wish I could be like you.
Why do you prefer night shifts? Greetings from México
Because I am able to workout before I go into work and it fits well into my lifestyle!
It works better for my lifestyle! I am able to get more done during the day and need a lot less sleep! I also really enjoy the nightshift pace!
do u pick up extra shifts often??
Hi, I enjoyed your video😀 what field of nursing are you in?
Do you flip your sleep schedule on your days off?
So, do you work your days in a row? How late do you sleep if your not going back in? I find the next day after I work my days in a row to be the hardest. My body thinks it should be sleeping because it is light out.
