      Totally innovative and fun 90's Honda! There are so many random little things I like about it. It will have to be a placeholder until I can find an S2000, haha.

    I owned this exact 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol Si in Samba Green with DEL FROG personalized license plates when I was 19 and a sophomore in college at the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay except it had the spoiler and body colored moldings. It was the vehicle I learned to drive a 5 speed with as I didn’t have a choice but to learn and learn quick. Ended up selling it it on the same exact date I bought it 8 years later in 2003 after I bought a 2003 Land Rover Discovery Series II. Man I miss that little car and all the good times I shared with it pre-marriage and children. I was just telling my husband today that at 44 years old and with two kids who never want to accompany us anywhere I should buy one again.
    Fun fact, we once fit 6 people in that little Del Sol on our way home from going out to a club in Appleton as our college friends vehicle wouldn’t start - including a 6’7” basketball player for UWGB! My friend sat on his lap, a person sat behind the seats, I drove and two guys sat in the trunk as we drove the 40 minutes back to the Frozen Tundra at midnight in January. Enjoy every minute!

    I feel like this is what R&D used to get the Targa right on the NSX a few years later. The mechanism on the top is identical and even the manner in which the top is stored without losing trunk space

    • @TysonHugie
      @TysonHugie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I bet you're absolutely right! It's innovative and efficient. I wonder if the NSX-T folks ever have issues with the Targa seals leaking, though. I've come to learn that leaks are a big issue in the del Sol community.

    God I miss these things. My mom had two of these - one was totaled before I was around and the other one I got to ride in as a kid before being sold to someone as a first car around 2007. I wish we would have been able to keep that car in the family.

    I remember when I had one of those Honda Del Sol , Mine was not a SI but it got fantastic mileage. But I clearly remember one thing about this car no matter how you washed it it always leaked where is the sunroof removable top and the window came together it always leaked there so I had to be very careful and to always carry a towel because it always ran down the inside of the window after washing it. But other than that it was a fantastic Honda product! Thank you for sharing your love of Honda products! So glad you found this little gem.

With the price of gas, how many gallons with the date and mileage. I remember back in the 90's a friend of mine bought his girlfriend a Del SOL it was a 94 black SI. It was a really fun car. How many engines did Honda Provide for the Del-Sol? In europe you only got the D16z5 with 125hp and the B16A2 with 160hp. Also the Samba Green was exclusive for the VTI Models with 160hp. And the Transtop was available in europe aswell as an option. You unlatched the front clips, then a bar lifted the back. The trunk was rising up and pullled the top into it. Quite rare to find one these days.

    • @TysonHugie
      @TysonHugie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's some awesome info. I'm not 100% sure on the available engine configurations in the states, other than for the first model year, the 1.6 with 125 hp on the Si like mine was the highest performance option available. The color is really growing on me. Thanks for watching!

    We used to call Del Sols the 'flexible CRX' because it handled so much more poorly than it's predecessor. A 91 CRX Si with only 33,000 miles just sold for $33,600 on bringatrailer.

      @TysonHugie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, I wonder what the best way to do that would be. Maybe spotlight 1 car each week and do a detailed video? Or try and summarize by going through the garage and featuring all at once?
