@@foldabotZMaybe a second wave in the next years, with Batman Begins suit, Catwoman, Ra's Al Ghul and Alfred, that would be really cool. A possible collect to build would be batpod...
I've heard enough complaints about this wave, so I'm glad your review commentary falls in line with my appreciation of this set. I have been waiting for this set ever since McFarlane ventures into the Videogame territory with the Arkham Knight Batman. I kept thinking that THAT particular figure is pretty much inspired by the Dark Knight Bale Batsuit. I had a Mafex Bale Batman from Dark Knight, and I got fed up with the arms popping out constantly when I so much as fingertip touched them. Even though my Bale Batman's right bicep joint did exactly what yours did, I just heated up the entire right arm and shoulder, loosened up the shoulder joint, and reattached the bicep, and it's been fine. I've waited for a Ledger Joker for about EVAR. I refused to pay $75-$90 for a NECA Ledger Joker, so I'm glad McFarlane finally delivered, and I have a pretty decent one. Btw, are you gonna outfit your Batman with a cloth cape? I have one that I got for mine since I had ordered one for my Arkham Knight Batman, off of ebay. I always had it planned to replace whatever plastic monstrosity that McFarlane fit with his Bale-Bat. Turns out it's a quaint little cape. I'll be replacing that this week.
Great review of the whole wave, dude! I like your call-backs and references to older figs. I do reallllly need these ones too, especially Batman! Cheers!
This is a great looking wave! I'm specifically interested in Batman and The Joker. Love the texturing on Two-Face and Scarecrow. I'm already thinking of using Scarecrow for custom fodder especially after the pants thing in the video 😆.
In my overall honest opinion, The best action figures from this DC Multiverse The Dark Knight Nolan trilogy wave is Batman, Joker, and the Bane because their likeness are spot on to the actors that play the characters in the movies like The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, I may need to get Batman and Joker, Great review Brad.
I'm really impressed with the figures McFarlane are putting out these days, though I still have reservations about the plastic quality, so I'll be keeping an eye out for other reports on the Batbale figure. I've had a number of figures where the arm has just broken off and I've had to sacrifice mobility on the offending limb. It's a shame, because in most other ways they're knocking the ball out of the park IMHO.
My problem with these are the Reliance on soft rubber. I'm concerned that the rubber over time will get sticky from plastizizers leaking out , or getting stiff and cracking. Most of this could be sculpted in harder plastic.
For some reason my Batman had its bicep swivels super duper stuck, so I kept twisting hoping it’s just tight but twisted the peg off, for some reason the biceps were glued to the actual shoulder, so mine sadly won’t be able to twist his elbows, had the peg and everything, it was just glued wrong 😞
Man, Mcfarlane is just killing with these movie waves, now they are making Batman Forever and Batman & Robin figures in the near future, Todd just doesn't want to stop 😅
I was gonna spend a lot for the Mafex versions and even though those are better imo you can’t beat the price for all three figures under $100. For Mcfarlane price ranges these figures look nice.
I still half expect to see this version of Bane in one of those Inspire sleep apnea device commercials. He could say, "The Doctor says I could ditch the mask if I switch to Inspire." Or Batman confronts Bane in a scene and Bane has no mask on. Batman - "Bane, where is your mask?" Bane - "I switched to Inspire."
Well to be fair these aren't 1/12 scale. They're 1/10 like all mcfarlane DC multiverse, which is absolutely infuriating considering almost all other collectible figure lines are 1/12 scale (6"-6.5")
Not the look I would have gone with for the Scarecrow. It's not really his definitive look from the films. He really only briefly wears that when he is on horseback in the climax of Batman begins. In every other appearance he is just wearing his suit and the mask. And I would have preferred a swappable Cillian Murphy portrait. I hope we get a second wave with Gordon, Alfred, Catwoman, Ras Al Ghul, and a Begins Batman.
It works a lot better for an action figure. The straitjacket makes him look more like a Scarecrow and is a lot more visibly interesting and "cool" than a plain suit. I'm sure that was Todd's thinking when McFarlane Toys were planning this wave out. He's going to go for looks that he believes will sell. Also, it's possible they weren't able to acquire likeness rights to Cillian Murphy. Most TDK trilogy Scarecrow figures haven't come with an unmasked Johnathan Crane head. The only one that did was the Mafex version. That would lead me to believe that his likeness rights are difficult to get. Probably too expensive.
I have this wave and I'm satisfied with it except for I feel Bane's torso is a little skinny. Does this seem proportionate or wasn't he a little wider in the movie compared to Batman
I don’t like the fact that they didn’t include the legs for the *platinum skydive batman*. I got that for $28 and I wasn’t too happy that he came 0 accessories. (Still an overall good figure, though)
Probably from an e-tailer like BBTS or Amazon. I've heard of people ordering from different places and having them shipped out already before the listed release date.
Yeah, Love the Dark Knight wave, but where's Catwoman!!!! I really hope they engineer better joints. Import figures have the joints figured out, where they get the full motion but the figures still look somewhat natural.
It was only going to be a 4-figure wave with a BAF. Todd chose the characters he knew people would want and believed would sell the best. Catwoman likely wasn't chosen to receive a figure purposefully.
@@SlasherIncorporated I think her figure would have sold to finish out the trilogy and if she came with an important build a figure part. Like Bane coat or head
It would be awesome if they made two Rachel figures. One being a gold label. And what makes them variants is one looks like Maggie Gyllenhaal and the other Katie Holmes.
I don't see that ever happening. Todd isn't very keen on doing female figures because, in his opinion, they don't sell nearly as well as male characters. Not to mention, Rachel isn't very toyetic. She isn't like Catwoman, who has a cool and sleek look. She is just a normal-looking civilian. You would also have to obtain likeness rights to two different actresses. Probably wouldn't be worth it.
Proportions on all of these actually are slightly off, even if it looks good. It has the McFarlane stylized superhero look with the small heads and big bodies, long legs
i like the batman headsculpt but i'm beginning to see that its also small - as always- mcfarlane has a thing for small heads - it also needs a cloth cape - most of these figures are looking like an upgrade style from the Mattel movie masters toyline - cool review revealing joint problems
None of those have been confirmed or hinted. We don't know that Todd is planning on doing anymore Dark Knight trilogy figures beyond this initial wave. These are the characters that most people will want, and the definitive versions of them. So, I wouldn't say "definitely".
My main issue with this wave is Heath Ledgers Joker. The likeness in my opinion isn't as good as people in the comments are saying it is. I think it's lacking, and the colours for the clothing should have been a bit darker. My main issue with the Joker figure is the tie and shirt. The tie isn't painted the right colour and lacks the pattern and same with the shirt, that lacks the pattern detail. The rest of the figures look okay, and Batman is clearly the best, yet still not amazing. Maybe that's just me having too high standards.
Yeah, your standards might indeed be a bit too high. I agree with everyone else saying the likeness is really good. Is it perfectly spot-on? No, maybe not. But it is damn close. As far as 6-7 inch figures go, I think it is the second-best likeness behind the NECA version. The figure may be lacking some paint detail and the colors for the clothing could have been a bit darker, yeah, but those are minor nitpicks for me. The figure isn't perfect, but it is still impressive. Especially for the price-point.
@@SlasherIncorporated I just think that there's so many things that could have been done better, which McFarlane either ignored or forgot about. It wouldn't have been hard to add paint to those areas that I pointed out, and why make the centre of the figure hollow. That just screams cutting corners to me.
That's what happens when you have somebody in charge who is actually a fan like the rest of who buy and collect this stuff. Todd actually owns and runs his own company, and cares about what he is putting out there. Hasbro has shareholders who's only concern is profit.
Man, that Joker is absolutely gloriously done. RIP Heath Ledger.
Batman Begins has always been my favorite Batman movie!

My batman can’t swivel the arms idk how to fix it
This and Black Panther are the only BAF set I have ever gotten. Glad I finally got a Bane.
I wouldnt be mad if they made a Gordon,Alfred or Catwoman figure that comes with the parts for Bane’s coat. 😂

The downside to these figures is the crotch design making the figures very hard to seat something that’s becoming very common with McFarlane.
