Neato was my favorite brand, then it seems their make their robots fail via app after certain time to force users to buy newer models. Besides losing the map for your home, you start getting errors with no solution to be found anywhere or even nonsensical error messages like "Area Too Sparse. The Robot cannot distinguish....". However there is no reason for the error, since the vacuum location and room are exact the same for the past 2 years!
An Amazing Product🌼 I have owned this unit for a year. We had an issue at the beginning but customer service took immediate care and replaced the faulty part. "Dusty" affectionately called, is the best investment I have ever made. We have 2000 sq ft of hardwood and lot of furniture and rugs and this unit just keeps everything neat. It is not a deep clean. With two cats i no longer see fur balls everywhere. "Dusty" does txt you when his bin is full...which happens often.
Had mine for a couple weeks now. It's been awesome, and my floors look great. One thing I did find out about the battery: The included 2100mAh battery can be replaced/upgraded with a 4200mAh battery. I suspect it's the same one that the higher end models come with, and it's awesome that it supports it. Definitely an upgrade that I'll make in the future.
Dude, your videos are amazing! I love how short and to the point they are! I bought a shark ion today on an amazon warehouse deal but im gonna sub anyways because your videos are so interesting and good. Keep up the good work!
I have a Roborock S5 but my in-laws have the D4. When I compare the two, the D4 gets stuck on objects if you literally breathe on something where the Roborock seems to smartly navigate around. I’m talking about getting hung up on basic stuff like a chair leg or a foot of a table. Doing an initial setup run is such a chore due to having to move the unit every 5 minutes. The Roborock app is vastly superior too and is constantly updated. I would not repurchase this, I feel bad I got the D4 for my family as a gift
If you upgrade the brush, filter, and battery, all easily doable, you essentially have a D7 minus the side brushes… The clear plastic on the higher end swirled brush will get torn up, essentially making them like razor blades long term.
So the exhaust blows floor debris around. Interesting. That doesn't seem to be a standard test on your other videos. Do all the robot vacs do that? It seems counter productive if I want a bot mainly to dust my hard floors daily.
Backing up the way this one does is a Neato specialty. My bot 80 has destroyed my subwoofer's grill, some kitchen table legs and some molding around the house.
Great review. I just got mine up and running. The battery is smaller than others, but it maps the floor so it's more efficient. Like a framing hammer compared to a sledgehammer. EDIT: We bought a Roomba 691? Same price range but no mapping. That thing would just randomly go until the battery died. I prefer precision over brute force. Hopefully the neato lives up to it's fame.
Hey There Vacuum Wars. Really thinking of buying this model. But how does i fair when having to go between rooms? Between rooms in my home the doors have a panel on the floor. And they are about 3cm or 1.1811 inches high. Can it cross over these or would i have to jerryrig a ramp?
I just got a D4 but my house is waay to complex for it to figure out. I really wish the Neato app would let me control the vacuum like a remote control car while it is in mapping mode so i could show it what to avoid. No go lines are great but it has to map the area first before you can add them. Do you know of any vacs that have a feature like this ?
Im not able to see my network on my Neato Apps. Was the same thing with my Shark with the auto empty bin. The only robot I cab use with the apps is my Roomba 690. Im from Canada my rooter is provide By Bell. I see my 2.4GHZ network on my phone(Android) and my old I pod Touch4, but i dont see it with my Neato D4. My Shark was able to connect with the network but was disconnected at least 2-3 times a day. Any solution?
I don't see any short-range proximity sensors (infrared or ultrasound) on the front of the robot. Does it slow down before hitting a wall or furniture?
Not true, battery life is software limited on the D3,D4 and D5 models. I asked Neato directly and they confirmed they limit the battery life in the software.
the blower motor is set lower from d3 to d5, the d7 blower motor is set lower than botvac connected i dont get it why neato have to do that for d3 to d7
The D4 is workhorse and I have tried at least five other robotic vacuums. I have all hardwood & tile surfaces, three dogs, a doggie door and live in a sandy climate. The only gripe I have is that I can not get much longer than one year out of a unit. Neato backs their product with a twelve month warranty. I usually end up sending my unit in for service two or three times before finally discarding it. I am curious if anyone else is getting over a year life from their units. When my D4 is up and running I would put it up against any other brand. My floors actually look clean & this wasn't the case with other robots. They consistently missed areas and even left clumps of hair right in the middle of room . I empty the dirt bin daily, blow out the filter & wipe down the unit weekly.
Hi, do you know if it's possible to use it in a house with multiple floors? I mean, is it possible to save more than 1 map? Thanks and congrats for your reviews, they are very useful, especially for me, I'm looking forward to buying my first vacuum robot.
I love my Neato D3 vacuum does an excellent job at first to all edges, corners and around the legs of furniture then by line up just like mowing the lawn. Also, I wish to have robot snow thrower (snowblower) during the 24 hours while snowing an likewise 2 robots and the one in charging and other is operate snow thrower because I have a largest driveway.
I had a Neato D3 but because of its design it would hit my walls and it wouldn’t go under my couches because of its height I returned it. I’m happy with the deebot 901
While comparing robot vacuum cleaners I discovered that the D5 had a shorter battery life than the D7 despite having the same battery size and asked Neato why this was. They told me that despite having the same motor and power consumption the D5 has a software modification that limits the battery time for the robot. The D7 does not have this limiter but costs a couple of hundred $ more for a different type of brush and slightly better software! I hoped you could highlight this in your next Neato review.
I recently bought the neato d5 and had to return it. The robot doesnt seem to know how tall is it. Specially in the top circle where the laser is located. It got stuck so many times that I was not able to got it to create the no go lines. I even put some things to block some places but somehow still got stuck in another place. The other issue is that when it got stuck apparently the app or robot crash and had to start all over again instead of sending a notification to move it. Tried about 7 times and then returned it.
That sounds exhausting. Yeah for the first run in a situation like that you need to basically walk next to it during all the trouble spots and use your foot or something to keep it well away from whatever the problem is. The 1st run doesnt have to be exact since the laser can see it all anyway. Then once its done you can use the no go lines.
Can you please please please do a Deebot ozmo 930 review. I love your Deebot reviews and I just got this and would like to know some things about it, and how it compares to the deebot 901
This is such a great channel! Thank you for all the info! I want to buy q robot vacuum cleaner for my apartment (no carpet), but I am struggling to choose the right model. We are between the neato D4 and the Roomba 980. We have a very furry cat, but apparently they are both good for pets. Could you tell me what are the differences between them? I know that neato has “no go zones”, while the Roomba 980 only has those 2 virtual wall barriers. However the Roomba seems to have not suction power and apparently it does not get tangled with hairs. I’m confused!!! Would you recommend something? Thank you for the great work!
I plan on it. I have the release of the S6 video scheduled for the middle of next month, which is when Roborock requested it be released. There are a lot of little things but they upgraded the chip big time, so it has the potential to be a LOT smarter.
man ur video is amazingly details, now i know what to buy, I'll be fucking angry knowing that you don't get funding from Neato.....!!! cause you really deserve it and this video help HUUUGGGEEELYYY... every aspect you had cover, even the things that I didn't think of. Good one man !!!
Diego 1 - Yeah. That’s disappointing. Wonder if they would ever roll it out to the D4; seems like it has all the necessary hardware, just would need the software...
Agreed, but for the record Neato has never sent me a free vacuum or paid me in any way. I will always mention that at the beginning of a video if it is the case.
Can you provide me with a list of some of the Long hair resistant products. My GF has 15 in hair and it gets tangled all the time. I clean it after every run our of our Eufy 11s and the last time actually broke the Robovac. I really need to find some that work well with long human hair.
Your remark about the no-go lines is only partially true. The no-go lines only work is you start an unscheduled clean from the app. The robot schedule doesn't take into account the no-go lines which is really sad :(
Absolutely untrue. My vacuum is scheduled for every day at 3 PM, and every day when it’s finished and I get the report of what it vacuumed, it has excluded the new go areas. It works perfectly.

Its like your tests get more elaborate and precise with every upload. Huge hat off to you guys, youre redefining vacuum reviews.
Thanks! I really appreciate that!

i like how this guy gets straight to the point, and shows graphs (idk what else to call them) to compare them to other robots in the price range!
Vaccum wars needs MORE subs. Such an underrated channel.
Love your work. Thank you for doing these videos.
I think this is the highest quality product review I've ever seen. On any product. Lots of time and work went into this and it was great
Wow, thanks!
perfect timing! Literally just purchased it today, has been great so far.
Exactly mine comes Friday so it would be nice to know haha
See a new Vacuum Wars video, best moment of the day.
I'm so glad your channel exists. And I love how thorough you are with your tests. Keep up the great work!
I got mine a week ago, it’s definitely worth the money. The app is great and the no-go lines are especially helpful.
Great to hear! Thanks for posting!
This channel is so good. I love my Neato. It’s always fun and to watch robot vacuum reviews
You're the reason I got the D3. I love it and I'm so happy I watched your video!
Your presentations & objective assessments are simply the best I've seen. Big thank You!

This is one of my favorite budget robot vacuums! Wonderful video Chris.

upgrade the filter too, it picks up a lot more dust.
What's the difference with the upgraded battery?
@@sarahjuliana17 I haven't actually got it, but it's double the rated capacity.
I've never actually seen a robot vacuum in action before and when I watched this video I was amazed on how intelligent there are it's funny!
Pasta Salad Most aren’t. Other brands bounce around aimlessly. Only the Neato works this efficiently.
@@justmydeals 👍
Tom The Fox Roomba 900 series and up also maps the floor and works efficiently
Just picked mine up for 299! exited for it to come in
Can you test the different interchangeable brushes that Neato sells?
Thanks! Great review. Just ordered a D4 from Amazon!
Hope you enjoy it!
4:10 "I kind of just wish it was round" Then It wouldn't look like a neato! LOL You sounded funny when you said it.

How do you initiate ‘spot cleaning’ w the D4 and can you program it into a schedule without canceling your whole house map?

Does Neato D7 scratches wood floorings? I have read many people complaining of scratches.

hey I have a question, can I use it without the brush? I see it has a lot of power suction but I dont want to be detangling the brush too often
Love my Neato, if you upgrade the filter and the battery you pretty much got the $1,000 model which is nice.
Not true, battery life is software limited on the D3,D4 and D5 models. I asked Neato directly and they confirmed they limit the battery life in the software.
Could you show us how previously reviewed robots handle the navigation test, e.g the Roomba i7+.
How does it handles ledges between rooms?

I had a Neato D3 but because of its design it would hit my walls and it wouldn’t go under my couches because of its height I returned it. I’m happy with the deebot 901

Twomonsters I’ve had my neato D3 for over 2 years running it almost every day, and it’s been excellent. You wouldn’t be disappointed with one

The new tineco s12
What is that vacuum?
What is after tineco s12?
Yea , you didnt mention ,no side brush ,it will leave all particles near wall...
I had a D5 and D7, both of them never connected to the app, even with different networks and devices.
Was this ever fixed?
Its bc of your phone. Try a different 📱 cell phone. Same thing happened to me

I think roborock is supposed to do better there.
I've had this for a year now and the Floorplan navigation sucks.

Your remark about the no-go lines is only partially true. The no-go lines only work is you start an unscheduled clean from the app. The robot schedule doesn't take into account the no-go lines which is really sad :(
