  • Object: To determine the value of e/m of electron by J.J. Thomson’s method.
    In this video, we determine the specific charge value (e/m) by JJ Thomson method in hindi.
    Cathode ray tube (CRT) is the main component of this experiment. As you know cathode ray tube has three components, first is electron gun, second is deflector plates for horizontal and vertical deflection and the third part is a fluorescent screen. The electron gun comprises a filament which on heating provide thermal energy to the cathode. As a result, electron emits from the cathode surface which further moves towards the anode, the potential difference between the cathode and anode decide the kinetic energy. The deflecting plates are connected with the positive terminal horizontally and vertically. So providing the potential to these plates, one can deflect the beam in any direction. In 1897, the mass-to-charge ratio of the electron was first measured by J. J. Thomson. By doing this, he showed that the electron was in fact a particle with a mass and a charge, and that its mass-to-charge ratio was much smaller than that of the hydrogen ion H+.

    Sir bar magnet ki position same distance per honi chaiye ya different distance per bhi rakh sakte hai?

    • @RohitGuptaPhysics
      @RohitGuptaPhysics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Approximately same distance hona chahiye.

    • @dark_music_factory4192
      @dark_music_factory4192 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mujhe bhi aisa laga kyunki agar same distance per nahin hongi to applied magnetic field to nullify electric field won't be accurate.
      Aur answer me error badh jayega.

    Magnet distance Kiya Kam korye hum

    • @RohitGuptaPhysics
      @RohitGuptaPhysics  ปีที่แล้ว

      To cancel out the effect of increased electric field, we need more intensity of magnetic field which can only be obtained by decreasing the distance between bar magnets.
