  • See me make the Prokraft Ion twist pen kit in solid aluminium and with a brushed finish. Plenty of turning to be done and very little finishing required.
The 99mm single blank size is great for artisans to show off the design of the maker - it is more about the maker than the kit parts.
    Kits are available here: www.prokraft.co.uk/ion-premiu...

Like the look of the Ion. Bought some aluminium blanks from you in my last order and one of the things on my ‘to do’ list was see if you’d done a video using one. Then, as if by magic, one appears! Thanks Jon 👏

Hi Andy, metal is good fun - just beware of the heat (& sharp bits) make sure the blank is cool before gluing esp if you use CA glue. The benefit of metal is that there is a slow turning & drilling process but not much polishing afterwards. Don't use your best tools with aluminium! Jon

What a lovely bit of kit! I’m now off to your website to buy a couple of kits and give them a try. Great video as usual, thanks Jon.

I do like that kit Jon and it is very reasonably priced as well.
One question when using an aluminium blank did you use 2 part epoxy or superglue to glue the tube in>
    Take care Jon.
    Cheers, Huw

Hi Huw, being a man of little patience I used CA but you need to make sure the blank has cooled fully first - metal gets really hot and the heat usually sets CA instantly. If you drilled an 8mm hole you may be able to discard the tube and glue in directly to the metal. That is a theory I haven't tried it! Good to hear from you. Jon
