You're right there's nothing out there for repairing burn through. Which is strange because it's so common to happen. Thanks for making this video! This looks like the best option to fix veneer problems
Bob Ross couldn't have done better , amazing how well you were able to make the damaged area disappear and blend everything as if it were original , hats off to you !
Great work getting that to blend! I sanded through the veneer on one of my client's dressers and had to use acrylic paint in shades of brown to fix it. I def want to give that kit a try. Thanks for sharing! 💚
I'm sooo glad you got this kit of repair paint stuff. I actually picked up the same one a while back and need to try it on a dresser soon. Thanks for all the helpful tips on using it! This turned out great Marissa!
Thank you so much! I’ve seen people repair veneer with bondo and use the paint but wasn’t sure I could just paint the burnt veneer (which I just did on a drawer 😢.)
Neat work, thank you, Miss Flips. I'm entering the world of re-finishing by trying to save a big dining table that sat under tablecloths in our outdoor patio in Southern Florida for years. I was a mess. In my various and diverse attempts to remove large and stubborn black water stains, I believe I over sanded a number of rather large spots. Two questions, if I may: (i) can this be done over a larger area (say, the size of a standard paper- back), and (ii) I was planning on staining and using weather proof sealant (have not decided which as the choices are endless; I don't think any of these weather proofing sealants come in a spray can (at least not the more effective ones), so, the question, finally, is: can I do the painting after it has been sealed and the do an application of the spray sealant in the painted area. Sorry for the long winded question, but new to this not sure what is relevant and what is not.
Hi there! Sorry to hear about your poor luck! Such a pain when things like that happen, but it happens to us all. For something that large, I’d say your best bet is to re veneer the entire surface with whichever veneer you’d like for the top and then proceed as you would anything else
@@TheMissFlips I appreciate the prompt albeit deflating response. At this point I figure I have nothing to lose and Im not quite ready to throw in the towel with the current veneer. Why can't I "over-stain" the affected area i.e., apply, say, ten coats of stain on the over-sanded area and three on the rest of the top ?
@@ebsmith1000 at that point, you might as well paint it with brown, I’m afraid. You probably wouldn’t be able to see the grain much and the burned veneer would probably turn out much darker in those areas
In cases where you are sanding down to bare wood before re-staining. Do you recommending, applying the new stain first, and then blending in with paint after the new stain has been applied? Thank you!
Hello, I work with table restoration and it happens 1/3 times that I sand through the veneer somewhere, I use to put more oil on the damaged spots so it looks the same. But I feel guilty because the people who buy it will notice that once they clean the table many times, because the oil and the pigmentation of it can be wiped off quite easily I guess? Does this kit work better?
I bought the repair kit that you listed, but it is very hard in the tube and doesn't have a brush on ability at all. There are no instructions included. Is there something I need to do to make this product work?
Hi I have sanded through teak veneer before I realised it was veneer. I want to finish the table top with natural shellac and a wax finish. If I dont stain will painting in the area look out of place if i patch with this paint?
Guess the question i have is there ny finish that can be put on top of it besides a spray on lacquer (not sure what you meant by a sprayed oil finish)....otherwise its just unprotected paint

Of course!! It’s definitely handy to have just in case and the variety of colors you’re able to get with different combinations is amazing!!

Thanks Jenn!! Yeah, it’s super good! Loved all the colors I was able to get

Glad I could help!
It looks fantastic! I hope I never need to do that, but it’s nice to know how if I ever do.
Haha yeah. It’s a pain in the ass and super disappointing when it happens, but it was nice to know that I could repair it
Grand job Girl 👍 This is something that would annoy me & I would happily sit & take the time to blend this in 💚
Haha I feel that for sure. Thank you!
I literally did this the other day. Thank you for this video.
Nice! Did it turn out well?
@@TheMissFlips No but I’ll do it again tomorrow
Beautiful work

Yes. You want to color match it to the color it’ll end up being once it’s stained
Did you put a finish over the paint as well when done? I would imagine it would look sort of textured otherwise.
Not for this one. I didn’t want to risk a finish changing the color of the wood around it

Does this kit work better?
It does if you apply a poly or lacquer finish over the entire surface after
Can you use wax as the top coat over this stuff or even polycrylic?
I personally prefer to use something I can spray over just in case
I bought the repair kit that you listed, but it is very hard in the tube and doesn't have a brush on ability at all. There are no instructions included. Is there something I need to do to make this product work?
Are you talking about the paints?
Looking at it again, it shows the paint on Amazon, then further down it shows a resin repair kit. That's what they sent me. 😢@TheMissFlips
After painting, do/can you put a polyurethane finish over it? Will that lift the paint?
Spraying it is the best option
I’m trying this but I am having a hard time blending it with the surrounding veneer because of all the tiny grain lines. Any advice?
Typically you have to get a tiny detail brush and hand paint the grain

I’d do your top coat first and then paint on top of that so that it matches with the finished wood and not with the raw wood
Thankyou
Can you put an oil finish on top?
If you spray and don’t rub or brush, I don’t see why not
Its acrylic or oil?

Found it thanks, just listed differently on Amazon canada
