- COME IN TO THE GARAGE AND SEE MR TWEED'S LATEST PROJECT A 1937 SCOTT FLYING SQUIRREL, A 600 CC 2 STROKE TWIN THAT WAS WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME WITH WATER COOLING AND AUTO LUBE OIL DELIVERY SYSTEM THAT BEAT THE JAPANESE TO IT BY NEARLY 50 YEARS.
So many projects so little time, good on you matey.😊
Just have to sacrifice sleep to gain time..... apparently its for wimps anyway 😁
Wow not seen one of those for quite a while, in fact 1978 in discussions with friends about a motorcycle rally we went to. We were amazed at the technology on a older ( to us) machine. Sounded amazing too, if I remember correctly Silk made a modern version which sounded almost identical. At least being a Squirrel you should not lose your nuts ahem so to speak. Looking forward to the return to the road episodes. Happy New Year to you all TTFN
Indeed they did Rodney, it was 700cc , Spondon designed frame, 4 speed box, alloy wheels and modern ( for the time ) suspension, a rare and still very sought after bike to this day.
One of my favourite bikes ever! Never had the money to buy one but amazing design! A good new year for both of us is guaranteed with this project!
Phil
it was a chance I nearly missed!! Happy New year Phil.
The bloopers really show how much effort you put into the videos. Thanks for bringing so much enjoyment last year now on to the next. Happy new year.
Glad you enjoy them Steve, HNY
Like a Scott, high class machine!
That is a lovely old thing, great find and hopefully Mrs Tweed will love a ride in the end.
Thanks for the update on Tweed Towers Treasure Trove Trinkets.
Thanks Colin, it is a nice thing 🙂
Your a braver man than I am gunger din x
It'll be fine Bob, Happy New Year
Happy New Year Allan! What an exciting new project, certainly the Scott looks a very advanced machine for its day. What ever you do don't let Jenkins anywhere near it, initially I thought you were a little hard on him but have come to appreciate that your harsh approach is fully justified, (spends way too much time off smoking pot with his technical college friends). Sorry to hear that Mrs T has re organised your domestic arrangements, still probably for the best. Looking forward to the next episode! All the best John.
Happy New year John, you appear to have grasped the measure of Jenkins, as the old adage goes " spare the rod, spoil the child ".................and fear not as I'm sure my shining wit will charm me back into Tweed Towers in at least the next 6 months 😁
Very interesting.
What a fantastic machine Allan, I've heard of them but have never seen one till now, can't wait to see you get in back on it's feet. A happy new year to you all down there...
You and me both! Happy New Year Allen
one of my all time favorite bikes. street bike, maybe some hillclimbs?
one for the street Naz
Avon Skidmasters back and front? 😉 Very period 👍 Happy new year to you and yours, Jenkins included.
Same to you Dinger 😁
Nice one Allan! Looking forward to seeing this go ahead.
A Happy New Year to you and yours.
Cheers, Peter.
and a Happy new year to you and yours Peter.
Excellent - another fine steed added to the collection - I whole heartedly approve! Is it the most senior vehicle in your collection now?
That honour currently goes to the Riley at 1929...
As we have discussed, the pinnacle of British two strokes. Happy New Year Tweedy.
and the same to you Deano
Happy new year tweed brilliant new project. As a new year resolution try to give Jenkins more credit poor soul we know he does a lot of the menial tasks
You'd think so Michael but he's a wasterel, i left him to clean the mill down only to come back to find him looking at the lingerie section of Mrs Tweed's Kays catalogue !!
@@TweedsGarage
Has he been swigging the methylated spirit again?
@@howardosborne8647 that would explain were its been disappearing too!!
Happy new year. Best wishes
Same to you Brian 🙂
Happy new year Mr Tweed! Love the Scott 😎
Happy new year Ben
Does Mrs tweed let you work on all of your projects on her oriental rug 😊
Only the special ones
A very interesting new project! The Oleo forks were also fitted to Velocette, and also gave deflation problems in that application, I think the problem is with the bores getting scored rather than the seals wearing, maybe you could hone the bores to get a better seal. The rubbers in the "cush drive" look so hard they would be ineffective, are new ones available? f not you could easily make up a mould and produce new ones. The problem with a bike that has been re built over many years is that you do not know what standard it has been built to, so it all needs to be re inspected. No problem for you, but so many people feel the need to start up and in the process do irreparable damage. A man with projects will live forever! Take care! Happy New Year! Chris B.
I'm naively hoping they will be fine inside Chris 😂, I'm going to carry out an experiment on the cush rubbers but i will have a look at the Scott club spares when the info arrives.
The previous owner was an engineer and so far the work standard of work looks encouraging, but investigations will be carried out. Happy new year.
The Scott will be a worthy companion for the Riley!
Makes a nice pairing Peter 🙂
Happy new year tweedy bloke better quit your day job get these projects under way finnished !! you’ve got a lot of content to provide and we will be watching and marking out of ten on quality progress and techniques, lighting, sound quality make up and dance moves so may I suggest you might have to send Jenkins down the coal mines to pay the bills 😂
Happy new year Steve, I don't think sticking him down the mine will cover it, he may have to show a bit of ankle on his days off :-)
Wonderful new project for us to look forward to (almost as much as Mrs Tweed apparently!) , and a Happy and Greasy New Year to you too!
Same to you Gordon
Well, well, well. That is an exciting acquisition and looks very tidy! Happy New Year!
bang tidy as they say in Wales, HNY Stuart
That's a really nice little project there you've got yourself there, I expect Mrs Tweed was thrilled :-) Happy New Year mate
To be fair Jason she lent me the money.....she's a keeper :-) Happy New Year to you and yours
Definitely never too many projects. I get teased by my friends for having too many projects unfinished but it usually shuts them up when I point out in terms of projects actually finished I am way up on any of them (most of who do nothing).
very true, they're only jealous Simon..
We all appreciate you throwing yourself on these project grenades and saving the rest of us. Happy New Years to you... and tell Mrs. Tweed happy new year for me when she's talking to you again....(although it won't mean much in April)
Happy new year Randy xxx
@@jorobinson2729 😁
it might not even be this April.....Happy New year
@@TweedsGarage 😆
Its in lovely condition will you race it in the TT and give Stanley a run for it lets have your starting number we will try to get some photos with the Kodak Box camera . love the bike thanks .
I need Mrs Tweed to finish using the pudding basin but rest assured once the treacle duff has been served up I'll be on the start line...
@@TweedsGarage Ill tell Woods its race on that will take that smirk off his face, Thanks.
Looking forward to following your projects in the New Year.
Happy New Year.
Happy new year and glad to have you along
Excellent choice for a project! Shipley’s best.. I once heard one go past flat out on the A2 when we were watching the start of a m/c trial. I think it had a copper end-pipe on a straight-through exhaust and then I understood why the name of the owners club magazine! I’d like to hear that sound again one day. HNY to you, Mrs Tweed, and Jenkins too if he’s sober. Les
that Yowl has got to be heard through a straight pipe until the neighbours complain Les ;-) HNY
Happy New Year Mr & Mrs Tweed. A good selection of projects. Just checked on Cars & Classics, those Scotts go for good money, sound investment 😀
Happy new year, the Scott is one of the few along with Rudge, Sunbeam ( pre war) Douglas fore and aft twins and Cammy Nortons that remain desirable in the current market
Those Dowty forks are a post-war addition. It should have girder forks and single leading-shoe brake. However, I'm sure that you'll be impressed by the bike's performance, though maybe somewhat less so by its fuel consumption! :-)
Yeah I'm aware of their appetite for dinosaur juice when the throttle is operated with enthusiasm....and its just dawned on me that the forks are a later addition, but if i can get them working the better front brake has got to be a bonus nowadays.
Nice project Mr Tweed....wheel bearings....how do you go on getting quality bearings these days.....so many very very poor quality bearing about now.
Well i avoid eBay for starters, just got replacement bearings from a well know bearing supplier based in Ringwood ( Simply bearings are pretty good and you have a choice of quality depending on the depth of your pockets ), Japanese for the front because weirdly they are metric so a lot of choice the rears are unbranded but probably european ( with imperial there's less of a choice nowadays )
@@TweedsGarage Yeah I discovered Simply Bearings when I was re-building my bantam.....only a 30 min drive from me.
Such a sad state of affairs' these days......you cant trust well known branded name we grew up with.
Happy New Year lovely new project
Happy new year Terry
Great new project Mr Tweed. I must say, I’m also quite intrigued by the eider duck attached to your wall. Happy new year!
it was a once Mallard....Happy new year
Happy New Year Mr Tweed thanks for your videos always look forward to the next one.
Thanks Rob my pleasure and HNY
11:00 - I believe the technical term for the brake thing is a 'Whippletree' or 'Whiffletree'.
I should imagine that would get you in to a whole heap of trouble if you asked a Lady Scott rider if you could look at her Whiffletree !!!!!
@TweedsGarage
Could be worse.
I got a black eye once when I told a young lady motorcyclist that her bush needed reaming...
😂😂😂@@jacketrussell
I always wondered if you put expansion chambers on them would that make it perform better. Or is that considered bad form ?
they appear to be raced with short stubby exhausts, there's a couple out there with mild expansion chambers but probably disqualify them form classic racing classes and yes its probably bad form ;-)
Very cool
as a cucumber ;-)
Great scott 😂
I'm nicking that ... :-)
Mr TWEED!!
you made me do it
