Just found your website. You’re just like your dad. I got to know him in the mid 80’s. The smartest man I ever met. He helped keep my old 74 sportster going. Love the signs in your shop. I grew up looking at those signs and visiting Your dads shop and museum every chance I got. You guys moving away was a big loss for this area. Great videos! thanks.
I wish my father was alive to see your channel. He died in Feb 2020 at 93 . He rode and raced bikes here in Australia after WW2 in the late 40's to the 60's . After the war the was no parts available or very few and he and my uncle made everything themselves. My uncle was a fitter and turner and dad was an aircraft mechanic. I remember him telling me about turning aircraft valves down to fix his Indian and making gears . He made a intake manifold that would slide to different lengths so he could tune the bike for different situations and better performance. He rode Indians but his favourite bike was a 500 single Velocette he raced flat track with. I miss my Dad as I know you miss yours 😢
Your Dad would believe it. So many times you both have recovered missing pieces that i am always in awe. You both have built some of the most beautiful bikes I have ever seen. Your Dad Waited Than You waited, I believe your Dad is still searching for you and helping recover the pieces. Old legends never die they grow stronger with each generation. I am in awe once again. Much respect.
How does this channel not have millions of subscribers!? I found this channel through bikes and beards and this guy is amazing! His knowledge is unreal and the bikes are awesome and such history! Way cooler than unboxing some new piece of crap.
The Motorcycling community is more like a family, its great that American History is being preserved, I think that your Fathers spirit lives on, and exerts a subtle influence upon things
Your dad is looking down on you and smiling! I know he's so proud that you made the right decision by waiting to assemble that piece of history. In fact, you've made us all proud!
Honestly, i don’t think I’ve ever seen Matt this excited about something. He has that Dale energy when talking about this bike. That’s how you know this bike is super special!
Matt, you're the reason for my love for old motorcycles and Harley Davidson in particular. This just amazes me brother. Your dad is smiling down on you. Thank you for carrying on his legacy and passion for these machines. I hope to visit WTT one day. It's the only thing on my bucket list
Your father left a great legacy and a wonderful peice of American history for you to finish and to see you puase once you spoke of him tells a story all its own!! Can't wait to see yhe bike finished and running. And yhise tanks are fire no doubt for its time..
The fact that you got to share something you love with your father is fantastic. It's great that a big win like this makes you think of him. I hope I get that with my boys.
brilliant , your excitement almost flows out the screen , best find i ever had was when i went to view a 50cc yamaha for a young girl to go to college on here in the UK in 1987 , got talking to the seller and he said he had some old bike bits in the cellar , any where he goes in and came out with a AJS 7R racing engine with magneto anyway chatted some more told him if he wanted to sell it give me a call ,feel later he calls yes he wants to sell it how does £40 sound i bought it went over to collect it when i get there he says got some other bits and shows me the frame with swinging arm yoke and rear shocks attached how much i asked give me £40 he said so bought that too , ended up selling the engine to a AJS specialist who wanted it for the perfect rocker box to recast new ones and the rest to a classic restorer for a tidy profit that bought me a triumph tiger 750 and payed my truck licence lessons and test so idur to the higher wages from truck driving that little deal kept making money right up to 2010 when i quit driving and went as a contract mechanic with the US forces in the middle east over the next 2 years
On a day like today when I am sick and exhausted I really find myself appreciating your enthusiasm about motorcycles. I also appreciate that you know so much about them that there is never a silence or snapcut. People being genuinely happy and excited is the best genre of youtube video. Thanks for sharing your motorcycles. I can't wait to visit your museum and spend some hours gawking at the bikes and their engines.
Going down in August can’t wait to see the museum Matt’s knowledge base is absolutely amazing. His passion is infectious can’t wait to go down to the museum
@13:45 I felt that in my soul man, had tears come to the eyes when you said that. however seeing your excitement on finishing this project is just amazing to watch. much love and respect. God Bless you Matt.
Brother, thank you and your late Dad for keeping all of this rare and precious Americana alive. Keep the video coming, they are excellent and historically informative. There are many of us who appreciate vintage American iron.
You can smell the history! Seeing that rare beast come together, transforms me to the hill climb event, with all its excitement, sounds, sights, smells and electricity in the air. Every single time I think you can never beat your latest restoration,, you come up with something like this!
Dude, you are the best. The knowledge and historic referencing, the story of one part for one bike. So appreciate what you do so the legacy of your dad lives on. This is a tremendous find, build and video. Enthusiasts unite.
Dude I got wood because of this video. Thanks for doing this! I am an old mechanic of all things. Licensed A&P. OMG! My cousin is Harley Davidson #1. He would love this video! I now have Wheels Through Time on my bucket list. We live in NC not far from Maggie Valley. I have to see this in person before I die.
Mate, I truly love the passion you have for this bike, and your trade. You can honestly see this vid isn’t made for likes, but to share the knowledge and love of your trade to the world. I’m a car guy, but do appreciate bikes. I have limited knowledge, but now I’ve stumbled across your channel, I’ve subscribed and will start checking out your back catalogue. I’m an Aussie, and my passion was the early Holdens (a GM product), from 48 to 62… The “Grey Motor” era. Focusing on rare accessories, but mainly, super rare performance parts. The excitement I’d have, receiving a rare, sought after item in the post, or stumbling across a pot of gold, after tireless hunting, following up leads, driving all over this tiny state I live in (Tasmania), was a truly wonderful feeling. I miss it. Thank you for reminding me how much fun it can be, opening a box and appreciating the gold within, that the other 99% would look at blankly. Keep up the brilliant work. Rob, Tasmania, Australia
How incredible of a find this is ?!?! Truly amazing ! Matt , I can understand your excitement when busting into that box ! Don't know how you kept as composed as you did. I would be freaking out ( in a good way ) myself ! One heck of a good call not " finishing" up that bike until getting those beautiful tanks. You all do some amazing things there at wheels through time ! Keep up the truly incredible things you do there. Hope to come visit you all soon. Thank you for all you do.
I thumb up everything you put out just to support the channel, but THIS is so easy. Love your excitement & though I was born in 65, my old man shared your glee. Now WE do.
Your passion and care for this American Freedom Icon is infectious! Right now your genuine love is increasing the value of every old bike and part. Other guys will get ignited buy you LUV and will be searching the classifieds everywhere around the world because they want to feel the same way you do about owning a piece of history from times gone by connected to AMERICAN FREEDOM, HORSE POWER AND THE SENCE OF EXHILARATION THAT OWNING AND RIDING A HARLEY BRINGS. YOU ARE WHEELS THROUGH TIME!!! LUV IT, GREAT JOB! NEVER MISS A VIDEO!
It makes me love bikes more and more every time I see you light up like a kid on Christmas talking about these old bikes. I been around some older stuff, nothing quite this old or quite this rare but, non the less impressive and beautiful. Keep preserving history, thank you to everyone at the museum, I really would love to make it out there one time. Some day I will make the trek
Brother, your passion for what you do is awesome. Every piece and part you show us is described with that passion. Thanks for showing us all your incredible stuff
I’m not mechanically inclined and not a motorcycle guy, but I LOVE WATCHING,someone so stoked at what they do and love. You and your father first, were/are so excited about this stuff it’s contagious……great to see someone find and do what they love…….
I can’t wait to see this wonderful piece of history back on the road, what a collection you have brother. Great work. It’s a shame I’m so far away in Australia as I’d love to see this whole collection.
These old motorcycles have so much more appeal in aesthetics than any modern motorcycle. I would ride one all day!! Thanks for educating us Matt!! Awesome
Owned my first Harley at 16 yoa, I’m now 72, and I’m still learning about Harleys, from you, so excited you found those tanks too! Visiting Wheels Through Time is on my bucket list; has been for a while, I will see you soon!! Thanks, great video, greater history lesson.

Matt totally awesome your dad has that smile he would get when it all comes together not to worry, he is there with you we are all nothing, but energy and it surrounds you. God Bless from upstate NY hope to see you soon
Like you said Matt, history does repeat itself and come full circle. Those have to be the tanks from that bike. That rear motor mount hole in the tank is a perfect match !!!!
I got a feeling your pops is smiling down with a tear in his eye and cigar to the side of his mouth right now. Amazing finishing touches right there bud.
All that over the top packaging to keep the tanks safe and you took the plastic off barely holding them. While I was screaming at the TV telling you to hold them over a work bench.. hahahaha
Dear @Peteslife. 👍👌👏 Exactly my thoughts too. I shouted at the screen: Put the tank back into the big cardboard box while unwrapping it! 2) All this talking and the 2 tanks weren't even put on the motorbike temporarily to show us how it looks. 🙈 Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Loved watching you nerd out. I remember needing out like this at my Buddy’s place in Malaga Perth Australia. As soon as I walked into Stuys shop. Watching him nerd out showing me all his bikes and starting every one of them in his flip flops (things). FYI, your Dad is watching you brother. He’s smiling huge like he always did.

FYI, your Dad is watching you brother. He’s smiling huge like he always did.
Matt, your enthusiasm has me all caught up in the excitement! Love your videos! I know exactly what you mean by the tanks fitting and looking good, but unless they're official factory, they're just a nice duplicate of the originals! I know what I'm talking about since I rebuilt my '47 el Knucklehead way before the days of shopping online. Yard sales, swap meets, older established bike shops, word of mouth, and telephone calls was the only way to score those original parts! ❤ On a side note: my father-in-law "borrowed" my original vented gas cap for his Willys Jeep project... but not for long!!
Congratulations on acquiring the tank. Really interesting history. Thanks for sharing.
Matt’s attention to detail and his patience is phenomenal. Willing to wait 10yrs for the correct tanks is far beyond my comprehension👍plays the long game foresure.

The fact that these tanks still exist, unmodified, not rusted out and not dented up is incredible. Also the engine, not blown up or scraped, what are the odds.
Dale’s Wheels Through Time is the center of the old motorcycle universe and everything eventually returns to the center.

Matt you will be happy to note that the single cylinder Harley has at last been resurrected in a 440cc avatar and will shortly go on sale in India via a new partner collaboration with HeroMotoCorp.
July 3-4 is the launch date. Wishing HD and Hero "may their tribe increase"
Couldn't come to a better place or better guy! Congratulations!
I love watching you finishing something your dad and you started I didn't know know your dad very well but when I had my 45 ci I not going to say but you know what everyone called Phil from Marion he messed me around for months over a drive sprocket and I'm 19 and one of my buddies said go to Mt Vernon and see Dale so I your dad had it on the shelf
Now in my way of thinking if I wanted to help you out I would have said go to Mt Vernon and see the dealer there
Anyway two years later I rebuilt a 60 sportster I had your dad do the bottom end
Just doing the bottom end wasn't good enough Dale took behind the counter in the back and showed and told me everything about what he had done
Sorry this comment is so long but I just can't say enough about your dad
What an awesome Man he was
Anyway keep it between the mustard and mayo and rubber side down later GBU
The best on this bike is the joy it brings, even after all those years.
😢 absolutely beautiful can't wait to see it finished and run
I was as excited as you were when you opened the box’s thank you for sharing that experience with us. That was great it is something you only dream can happen it was unbelievable watching this. Great job finding and getting them. Tjankbyou
