This performance shows Judy's amazing ability to do multiple things at the same time. She is singing to Terry Thomas and she is singing to the studio audience and she is singing to her tv audience. Most performers would choose one of the three to concentrate on but in this performance you see her connecting with all three both at different times in the performance & sometimes all three at once. Think about it: how many performers have you seen professionally sing seated to 1 person?
@theadvisorout I'm still upset about that. Judy was grateful for the awards she received and humble. Rita Moreno isn't humble about anything IMO and probably feels she deserved the Oscar.
That Sinatra "quote" changes around a lot on these boards, but it's pretty silly. The last person in the world who'd think he'd be forgotten was Frank, of the large ego.
@@akrenwinkle The actual quote by Sinatra is ‘she will have a mystic survival. she was the greatest. the rest of us will be forgotten, but never judy.’
@@deannoble673 If you ever want to know if a quote is authentic and accurate, find out where, when, and to whom it was said. If you can't, it's fake. I could post today on different sites a "quote" by Mickey Rooney: "I didn't want to make love to Ava Gardner, but someone put me up to it." @@akrenwinkle It's a widely used quote and as Sinatra was known for being generous to performers he admired. There is no reason to doubt it's authenticity. Generous to another person. Maybe you could give that a try sometime.

Thomas was right to not move a muscle and give her the scene - but its a silly idea to have him sat there like a spare part - it just doesnt make any sense Judy of course just can't help being brilliant so in the end it didnt matter

She just made me cry......
Total perfection .. *wiping tears*
An unbelievable performance - could some artist do this today? I think not.
Magic!
GENIUS.
My second favorite track off Judy At Carnegie Hall and she performs it beautifully here, too.
she was marvellous
That moment at 2:24 where she moves in to sing only to him after belting to the audience....how did he not just collapse? Incredible performance!
Best version of Foggy Day 🎻

So wonderful.
She floors you every time.
Sinatra once said " They will forget us all.........except Judy"

I've always wondered what got dropped offstage at the 42 second mark, and did that person get fired!
A piano lid dropped
