Back in the day I used to think avocado only grew in temperate and/or high altitude environments, then I went to Sri Lanka and saw avocado trees growing everywhere, and no one was eating them. Inspired me to bring a few and plant some seeds for my own little garden.

I gave it a try once by allowing the seed to soak halfway in water indoors during the winter. After a month or so, I had a good 4ft plant growing. The leaves were beautiful. Unfortunately, I got rid of it because I kept finding these silver bugs in the soil. Every time I watered it they would scurry everywhere like mites. I was so proud of my plant and I really showed it ❤️ lol.

Sure you can grow an avocado tree from the seed but what they do not tell you is that it will never produce any avocados.
In order to get avocados the branch of a tree that does produce avocados must be grafted to the new tree. Good luck with that!

I live in Missouri, I have a tree I started from the seed that is about 5 feet tall, I have had it for almost 4 years now. I set it outside during the summer and bring it in in the winter. When I started it I just simply put the seed in some dirt and kept it watered and it eventually started to grow. I have had better luck starting them that way as opposed to the method shown in this video.

Thank you A Gordon I can't stop watching now..kinda slow anyway..I don't need to see each bottle and the roots. I got it after the first one. Lol.
But I can tell you if you don't know already. If you slice the avacado put in on a cookie sheet or flat pan sit it in the sun til it's dry, 1 day if it's sunny..then put slices in sandwich bags until they soften up, use a lime squeezer lined with very thin cloth put slices in it and squeeze slowly..it takes a bit of time but you get wonderful avacado oil..great for the skin also. You can also slice the pit and put in a food processor til it's a fine dust..sprinke on salads or in smoothies..its loaded with wonderful things. Have a great day.

My English immigrant friend who moved to the cooler south from tropical Queensland managed to sprout some avocados for me even in our colder climate down south using a similar method using toothpicks etc. But another horticultural expert who operated a nursery said that, although I can get an avocado tree which can look quite ornamental, if I had any expectations of beautiful avocado fruit hanging off it, to forget it this far south. They are, it seems, mainly a tropical or subtropical thing. And so expensive here in the south of Australia.

I have one that I planted a few yrs back, and it is 3 ft tall, now, what to do with it, as it is going to have to stay in our house, we don't live in a climate that you can grow Avocados in? But it is a good tree that leaves well and seems to be thriving.

But are they viable genetically to make more avocados, most store bought ones just make a tree and no fruit.

Research grafting techniques for avocados, the best way to maximize your yeild, and keep your tree going for longer.

I didn't realize it took so long for the 🥑 tree to grow. I really will appreciate the lovely fruit NXT time I eat one. I just wish I had a yard to grow one in. I would wait patiently for the maturing.

Could be a different variety of avo, or something to do with heat, humidity, sunlight etc.
