I need a honest opinion and it is welcomed by everyone but also from the reviewer if possible. Toyota chr or the new cupra formentor ? I really cant choose between these 2 and need help. Thanks in advance mates!
@autogefuehl Thanks for your answer. In general i loved cupra but reliability issues is the main reason im afraid of this car because of many statements talking about potential problems on infotainment systems and other things. I wonder if they fixed most of them , in Greece the cupra is at 38500 euro and chr at 33500 so the extra 5000 for a potentially unreliable car would be a problem.
About the PHEV model... I wonder if the PHEV is a better option if you often do short drives, where the engine doesn't have enough time to warm up. If you'd have the PHEV, you could do those drives in pure EV mode, never even starting the petrol engine. But I don't know if that's true.
I was talking to someone the other that has just got their second C-HR, this time a Hybrid. When they went for a test drive on the first one, the dealer could not get any of the hybrids to start due to flat batteries.
Great review as always👍 Shouldn't ICE and (P)HEV stop running safety-wise whilst the hood is open even whilst the driver door is opened unless maintenance/inspection mode? What about rubber band effect, still present? What about the most complaining rear passenger compartment having too much wind whirling noise? Who cares about the passenger when the driver is having fun😂
My 1. gen C-HR 12 v battery died last winter after three years of use leaving me two times in need of help. Toyota should do the same as Tesla and have an intelligent automatic system using the drive battery to charge the 12 v, if the voltage gets too low.
Thanks for the feedback! Interesting, odes Tesla have that? Toyota told me with the bz4x (EV), they have a system that checks for the voltage when the car is stationary in the garage or smth (every x days) but it wont be activated on demand when the battery is empty - weird.
The problem with the CHR is that you can't just outright design features from a much bigger (and often lower) car i.e the Camry or bigger SUVs and just squeeze it on the smaller and taller profiles of a compact SUV. But the design meta these days is just to make stuff look like the same just stretched and compressed to various sizes.
Currently I have the Toyota Corolla which I love, the only reason I’d get the C-HR is because of the design, the fact that it’s a mini SUV and because it’s slightly sportier when driving. Also could you please explain your point at 8:04 again I didn’t quite understand, thanks 😊
I actually like the design way more than the previous gen. My only issue is Toyotas obessession with making certain parts of the car black and the other grey. They did the same with the crown on the rear and I feel like it doesnt flow and makes the car too polarizing..
It seems they went the road of previous generation, they even stuffed it with sound insulation, like they did with latest Corolla refresh / model year.
toyota seems to have taken inspiration from bmw, cause it completely ruined the design of the chr, while the previous gr sport version was so intresting
I know in Europe & America SUVs/Crossovers don't really make much sense compared to sedans but I can tell u that here in Africa the roads ain't generally that developed(potholed, speed humps & mostly rain washed gravel ones)so such vehicles with their higher riding heights that normal sedans make a lot of sense.,with pick up trucks.
I have no idea why anyone would design that rear windows so short, it looks claustrophobic even from outside. One of the main flaws of this excellent car imo.
I love the front design. The rear is a little bland, especially the indicator lights. Interior is very nice. Obviously you’re paying for quirky styling with the chr, if you want something more practical then the Corolla cross makes more sense. Not really. We are driving so many cars together, and in some cars it happens, in some it doesnt. I m not sure what causes this, it might be the combination of height, weight and suspension setup.

While its predecessor was ugliness pure, this one is, well, though still quite bonkers, eye-catching in a positive way. Generally, I don't like two-tone schemes too much. But here, I would opt for the a light paint with the rear full in black. It nicely accentuates its almost parallel C-pillars. Now, at least in my country, this scheme is bound to the highest grades while the car is already expensive in its basic package. Having recently driven the hybrids of the last two generations, I must say, this one is way better than the previous one. So, though I normally buy used, here I'd go for a new one.

I think it’s fun, makes design unique rather than an almost copy and paste you see on most previous cars…

I m not sure what causes this, it might be the combination of height, weight and suspension setup. In the Volvo EX30 for example, it was totally fine even when we were driving winding roads. It must be a combination of different factors.
Thank you Thomas for replying. I'm thinking my wife might be susceptible to the same kind of car sickness ? I like the car a lot but will investigate further to find out if there is known cause. @@autogefuehl
That's a lot of luxury features in an expensive, entry-level car.
Feels like toyota is lagging a lot behind vw and kia now. Their conservative approach will make them to lose market share.

Cool licence plate
You said the electric rear axle only works when the front axle has no grip? It sounds like a waste of tech and weight for just that

I like the look of the predecessor this one looks ok. Would look starsky and hutch style if black were white and silver, red :) The problem with many Toyotas is the bland and unrefined drive
the front end looks good, but the black rear makes the car look like it’s wearing a diaper 👶
It seems Toyota borrowed BMW designers for this model. 🤬
Oh my gosh, it looks absolutely horrible compared to the previous one.
