Brad Whitford is a super nice guy! He signed the Strat you see in my channel logo at a wedding reception for his nephew back in 1999. My band was playing the reception and he came up and jammed with us! We had a blast! I will never forget the experience!
I first heard Areosmith at a high school Blue mtn high school in VT when I was 13 in 1971 the same year Dream on came out Tyler was 23 10 yrs older than me Same yr they first played Dream on at my friends high school prom in Littleton NH My friend said Tyler said it was the first time they played it out. If you know to apologise if your out of line, why comment at all? Is it ok to put him down if he hasnt got the issues you mention? The guy is over 60 and has been around the block a few times. Do you really think he would be drunk before a show at his age? You obviously know nothing about his playing and live work. Your ignorance is astounding.
i agree the Joe Perry Aerosmith rig rundown isn't that good cos it's Trace Foster not Joe Perry, i'm not dissing Trace it's just it's better when guitarists/bassists themselves show their own gear
@ Kurt Moss Hey bro! I have been an Aerosmith fan since childhood! I love Perry, he is a riff -machine,and writes very cool shit, but I always preferred Brad Whitford. Listen to the solo off "Live Booleg" "Lord of the Thighs" He makes that fuckin les paul SCREAM,or maybe it is his B.C. Rich Mockingbird, either way, that solo is so menacing and has sick pitch harmonics and feedback goin on,it is almost out of control!!! He reels it back in towards the end!!!! AMAZING playing!
Been an Aerosmith fan since I bought the 76 Rocks album in 9th grade. I was a Perry guy but I noticed over the years that Whitford was the backbone to the great guitar licks. Brad, very underated !!!!
I've met him a loooong time ago at MSG during the Rocks tours, what a great great guy and an amazing guitar player, the fact that he did his own rig rundown shows how diff he is versus most "legend" guitarists!
RESPECT- To stay kinda in the shadows and let Perry get most the glory. Any band is lucky, especially the lead guitarist to get such a 2nd guitar to be there solid as a rock. Down to earth and such wisdom to share.Man I would love to sit with this guy and just listen to the stories.
Back in the day, when everyone was praising and talking about Joe Perry’s playing, (even today) I was ALWAYS a bigger fan of Brad Whitford! I found out throughout the years that most of my favorite guitar solo’s in Aerosmith songs were actually Brad and not Joe. If Aerosmith songs were recipes, Brad is the secret sauce!
@@emperorofgaming8146 Off the top of my head, "Last Child" (probably the one he's most known for), "Sick As A Dog," the first solo on the studio version of "Milk Cow Blues" and I've heard that Joe himself considers "Kings and Queens" the quintessential Brad Whitford solo. Brad is also featured more prominently than usual on the Live Bootleg album, where he adds an extra solo to "Sweet Emotion," among other things.
Brad plays the solo in Nobody's Fault which he also wrote. It's by far the best guitar solo and sound on any Aerosmith record.I have no idea how he got that sound but damn it's good!
I really like how Brad Whitford was more than nice enough to do the gear interview himself and play some guitar too. He didn’t send his tech to do it for him. Super nice guy who cares about interacting with the fans.
Another underrated guitarist and legend, and why do people watch this if all they wanna do is criticize and make negative comments?Go listen to Justin Bieber is all I know to tell'em.
My favorite Rig Rundown. I’m not a big Aerosmith fan, but I do enjoy Sweet Emotion, Dream On and Walk This Way. Love that Natural Casino and white telecaster.
I as a kid was under the impression that Perry was the hot guitar player in Aerosmith? He’s good, but then I saw Aerosmith, in concert, and all that great Joe Perry guitar? Was actually played by Brad, with so much skill an spot on! I left the show realizing Brad is the best player in the band! That’s how low key, and easy going he is? But man what a player, I’m highly impressed with his talent!
Agree with all these comments about Brad being down to earth. Met him and Derek St. Holmes. Great dude, looks you in the eye, absolutely humble, just like Joe (Joe in my photo)
Excellent rundown! I probably shouldn't be, but I am surprised at how much these touring legends actually do still care about their guitars and gear, how everything sounds, and that they're still experimenting after all these years!
haha to cool Brads guitar tech Marco is my cousin was soo cool seein him on here last time I saw him was right after the tour in '10 I believe and he gave me a few of brads picks
I thought I was the only one that felt that way... Brad being the better of the two. Just always felt Joe was more the "frontman" type player and a better match to Steven. I've always been impressed with Brad, and I was surprised (and pleased) he did the rundown himself.
Most of the guitars here are factory freebies. He does have quite a collection that stays home for safekeeping. I do wish there were more seventies instruments on tour but these guys play the new stuff.

He's right. The best way to find a great electric guitar is to play it acoustically. The good ones just ring - really loud, and a ton of tone, even though they're not plugged in to anything

In regards to a tremolo system....yes, more springs do help maintain tuning precision, especially if you do double stop bends. The tighter the spring the more control you have. Of course, your whammy bar is going to be stiff in this scenario.
Wonder what/how these guitar techs are paid? Are they full-time, year round guys that work exclusively with one band, or are they constantly on the move? Very professional and exacting work with little room for error.
Cool humble guy, great rhythm and solo guitar player imho. I suspect that if you asked him and Joe to rate each other you'd hear 'em BOTH say ; " Great guitar player, couldn't do my best playin' without the guy" They're just different stylistically. If you prefer Blues and Rhythm and Blues based stylings, Joe's yer guy. If you prefer more "Composition" based styling, Brad's the man, but neither of them sound as good as when they play TOGETHER. That's what matters, not a bunch of "he is!", "he isn't!" kiddie-crap! you gotta appreciate these rig rundowns where the actual player takes the time to do the interview rather than just sending out their tech to do it.

According to Joe's book, Brad once put Steven in a headlock. Now that's awesome.
He is so underrated in my humble opinion. I grew up on these guys and they've always been an inspiration to me.
Brad is a monster on guitar extremely underrated!!!!
I think brad is very down to earth
kurt moss Brad carried Perry through the 70's & 80's !!!

The man responsible for the leads on 'Dream On, Nobody's Fault, Round & Round,' powerful full tone.
Dream On's lead solo was actually performed by a session musician, neither Joe nor Brad.

Yeah back in the early days Brad did a lot more writing, but it seems that after the reunion he was pushed to the back.
Gotta love Brad Whitford, such a down to earth cat.
Loco that is sooo fuckin right on man
Met him. Very nice guy
Love it when the artist takes the time to tell stories about the instruments. Much more interesting.
He is so humble, gracious, accommodating and complimentary of all his peers...younger musicians should take note, this is how you act as a Rock Star!

And Brad Whitford is a better player than Joe Perry. Brad has more technical chops as well. But Joe is the king of cool.
I have Brad’s G-Lab SD-1 Smooth Delay pedal - he sold over 200 pedals to a Mpls. guitar store this past year. The delay sounds great!

I just discovered these rig rundown videos, & I enjoy them very much.
There's a huge difference when they get discussion from the guitarist vs the tech. Great show.

They do make some chambered VOS' along with ones that aren't.
Great two guitar bands have an unusual way of working the two. The Stones & Aerosmith are two great examples.
Brad's my favorite rhythm guitarist of all time. Since he can do some solos as well, means he's pretty good
I do like ESP, my friend has some original BC Rich's he bought off Ed Roman ... I have a 94 Gibson SG Special with an ebony neck...i love that guitar
Brad is such and awesome guitarist.
Fantastic show! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Love that 58 VOS. As soon as I saw it I thought of the Peter Green Les Paul. Even though Peter's was a 59, they're identical guitars.
Brad is the man!!!! My favorite of the Aerosmith crew right now.
Ironically, Brad is a better guitarist than Joe Perry.
The Jacobite Prince7777 What's ironic about it? Just because Perry is out front more often ? That's just because of the media.

The pickups (Fillmore/Goodwiod) he talks about are from Jim Wagner. His pickups are fantastic!
Brad is Aerosmith imo! I appreciate the guy even more for not only doing his rig run-down but also for entertaining us with some playing.
