It´s amazing that Powderfinger remains (and will remain) unknown for so many. Luckily we´re not one of them

Powderfinger were staple music in my household growing up. My brother especially loved the band. He passed away in 2008, and since then this song has a new meaning for me. Thank you for writing beautiful, soulful music that helps heal me. And thank you for the song 'Pockets' on the Vulture Street album.

Takes me straight back to the soul-searching camping trips with my now-departed good friend. His story personified the lyrics of this song and all of the adversity he faced through the selfish agendas of people around him. I still see him singing this around the fire, misty eyed, beer in hand, and feeling this song deep down inside.

    Tell me where I'm
    Supposed to begin
    An unhappy life working
Some kind of dead end job
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
    Lean to the side
    Whisper it quiet
The end is in sight to working
    All night around the clock
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
But it's not my kind of scene oh yeah
    Footprints on the other side
Remind me where I've been oh yeah
I'll watch from the other side
    Tell me where I'm
    Supposed to begin
Move out of sight and onto
    Some life I'm dreaming of
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
So I'll just wait and watch the wheels
    While you're turning back
But it's not my kind of scene oh yeah
    Footprints on the other side
Remind me where I've been oh yeah
I'll watch from the other side
Pulls me over and it drags me under
Pulls me over and it drags me under
    Alright now alright now

Here's one for the train spotters out there. The clip shows him in a VB Commodore but the head-rests in his shots are the VL which is following. Scotty said they paid $500 for the VB.

Love this song. One of my favourites, on one of my favourite albums of all time.
(Also my first car was a VC Commodore, and my mate's was a VL!)

I hang out with the guy who directed the clip. At the Camp Hills bowls club of all places. He's done a few Powderfinger clips and stacks of other stuff.. He is not what you would ever expect. But you wait until you see the hardware in his back yard studio. Such an interesting totally unpretentious guy.
