Lyrics:
Tell me where I'm
Supposed to begin
An unhappy life working
Some kind of dead end job
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
Lean to the side
Whisper it quiet
The end is in sight to working
All night around the clock
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
But it's not my kind of scene oh yeah
Footprints on the other side
Remind me where I've been oh yeah
I'll watch from the other side
Tell me where I'm
Supposed to begin
Move out of sight and onto
Some life I'm dreaming of
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
So I'll just wait and watch the wheels
While you're turning back
But it's not my kind of scene oh yeah
Footprints on the other side
Remind me where I've been oh yeah
I'll watch from the other side
Pulls me over and it drags me under
Pulls me over and it drags me under
Alright now alright now

Australia’s greatest ever band. Miss them so much.
That's a brave statement from a country that boasts AC/DC and INXS
It´s amazing that Powderfinger remains (and will remain) unknown for so many. Luckily we´re not one of them
Such a shame that Bernards solo music was crap.
Hello from cold Russia to sunny Australia.
One of the most favorite band.
Hello. So cool Powderfinger have reached Russia :) they are underated but fantastically universally human.
Great taste in music mate... u r a legend!
I'm here listening in Ireland, cheers to you friends 🍻 :)
I send my love to you dude..all this hate in the world, it's not my knd of scene.
@@taniaearle4457I saw them in Ireland 20+ years ago....... very few knew about them.......They BROUGHT The House Down, so many muso journalists in Ireland were literally Gob Smacked......I was there, Tight & Bent as.
The last of the truly great Aussie rock and roll bands
These guys are, for me the last great Aussie rock band. At age 54, I’ve seen The Angels, Midnight Oil, Divinyls mental as anything INXS etc. when Powderfinger called it a day the good old days of my youth kind of stopped too. Ahh, the pub rock of the 80’s and 90’s
Chisel
Cold Chisel, yeah mate got all their albums, unfortunately never got to see them live for some reason or another. Jimmy Barnes solo was as close as l got.
Noiseworks !
An aussie now
Give Violent Soho and King Gizzard a listen. Australia still has it.
Thirsty merc have some good tunes too.
Powderfinger were staple music in my household growing up. My brother especially loved the band. He passed away in 2008, and since then this song has a new meaning for me. Thank you for writing beautiful, soulful music that helps heal me. And thank you for the song 'Pockets' on the Vulture Street album.
God bless your Bro Emma. Yeah, this song holds a special place in my heart. It’s a travelling song for me. X
That's a sad and happy story all rolled into one ❤️❤️❤️😢😢
This! My brother also passed in 2008, this song reminds me of him and the good times we shared but I don't think I'll ever get over it. My sincerest condolences to you and yours. 🤗🤗🤗
@@beastnosnibor1857 I have lost 2 siblings. So true, we never get over it but we somehow learn to live with it.
May your brother rip and let this healing music keep happy memories fir your brother alive
This song will never get tbe credit it deserves.
they were my neighbours back in the day in the valley lol
Best Australian band! I Live in the United States and play Powderfinger almost everyday, Love this song! Also love: These Days. Powderfinger are Awesome!!!!
U should have seen them live they sound like a cd
Soccer is the biggest and most important sport on Earth and is massive in over 240 countries. Every nation on Earth loves soccer. Rugby league is big in only 4 countries. Its a minority sport in England, France, Lebanon etc. Soccer will be the most popular sport in Australia by 2050 utsts
Try hunters and collectors
Are you not considering AC/DC as 🇦🇺?
@@thundergun933 ac dc are trash on a boat, 3 chords and scream the name of the song for 2 minutes = every ac dc song
left my heart in Oz with Powderfinger playing on the radio. Sheffield just aint doing it for me? Thanks for the memories x
Takes me straight back to the soul-searching camping trips with my now-departed good friend. His story personified the lyrics of this song and all of the adversity he faced through the selfish agendas of people around him. I still see him singing this around the fire, misty eyed, beer in hand, and feeling this song deep down inside.
I wonder if Powderfinger knew at the time they wrote this song, that they were writing a god damn masterpiece!
every song they write is a masterpiece
So true. The whole album is a masterpiece though.
No
They say intelligent people are always full of doubt - we all experience it, well, us intelligent ones, so no doubt they questioned such at the time. Masterpiece for sure!!
still today 21.05.2017 I listen this song and I hear it in 2000. when I buy "MI 2" soundtrack. Beautiful song!
Found this song driving up the coast after a messy divorce. Probably saved me. Went on to buy everything they released. 20 years later still gives me shivers
i hope you're still kickin' and still listening to their music. 1y later, but i hope theyre still helping
Divorce sucks brother - been there. Hope life is being kind to you.
This album and this song in particular got me through the worst period of my life. I feel you man.
I'm glad this song/ band helped you in tough times ❤ stay strong 💪
Thanks for posting this man. Lots of dudes doing this road these days and I hope you are well two years on. Great song.
Powderfinger should be famous through out the world.
They are in Aus/NZ lol
australian
+man olt Ja est true- so awesomest Aussie band and best videos ever.
I'm watching this video from the United States, Powderfinger has got fans here in the United States! loved seeing Powderfinger on David Letterman!
man olt im in the us and just found them every song i listen to either gets better or is just as good as the last
Powderfinger were a staple on Aussie radio. Many long mornings as an apprentice.
Hearing anything from this band made my day 😊
I remember when I had the mi2 cassette, this song used to be one of the last songs on the B side. Didn't notice this masterpiece until later on and turned out to be my favorite song in the cassette. It was year 2000 and it's been 20 years now, still listening
I had the CD and I honestly think it was transformational for my music taste; sure there was some heavy rock and metal on there, which I was growing into after being a UK indie kid, but I think most of all it introduced me to Powderfinger with this which is probably one of my all time favourite songs
Back- packing Australia in 2003, this band was my go to album! Still come back now and again to reminisce 🙌
landed in perth from UK in 2001/2, got to my hotel in Scarborough, switched on the TV to see a Music awards show where Powderfinger and Something for Kate won all the awards. hadn't heard of either at the time but loved both bands ever since.
I know why! =)
yeah me too :-)
Lingsbord welcome to gods country.
Just a brilliant song. One of the best I've ever heard. Lyrically and musically it's absolute tops!
One of the best songs, by one of, if not the best aussie bands, love it
Wish they were still touring - best ozy live band ever!!
Bernard fanning can sing for me anyday.
best use of a commodore I've ever seen
watching every hit powderfinger song and crying and loving every minute of it
Me too...the exact same way I did back in highschool .. 😢
best use of a commodore I've ever seen
Ahhh the childhood memories :')
Only just beating Area 7's Nobody Likes a Bogan....
The second Commodore was VL the first one was an earlier model maybe VC ??
@@tucoselby VC or VB, they look very similar.
@@gav240z I just watched it again and by the look of those headrests I'd say it"s a VC surely the VB would've had solid headrests

One of the best Aussie bands of all time.
Aw! My most favourite powderfinger song 💗
Love bernards voice, every day I listen to powderfinger ♥️🎵🎶🎼

This song makes me miss someone that was special to me a long time ago.
I think this may be their best song
Powderfinger should be famous through out the world.

My dad played this to me from the moment i was born, to the point in which i got sick of it when i was around 10. But i started listening again, and i have not stopped.
Any composition (& there aren't many great ones) that can arose nostalgia is nothing short of brilliant.
And Powderfinger do it time & time again with such grace.
first day back at school, already got homework, but whats to complain about when ya can listen to this while you do it.
god I love this song...and band
OMG Am an instant fan of Powderfinger and Bernard Fanning.
My kind of song
Great song. One of my fave PF songs. Ripper vocals Bernard. Love the guitar on this one too
Powderfinger should be famous through out the world.

I know this song from my dad and i hear this song in kinda like oasis is a good song for mee❤
Still hauntingly beautiful and impactful..... after all the years ago it was wrtten by the "finger"......thanks boys for the memories.
This song means more now, then it ever did when i first heard it at 13 years old.
Life hits hard
This song featured on the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack as well which i believe was around 2000-2001. Such a talented group of musicans.
Hugely underrated. This is special work art
watching every hit powderfinger song and crying and loving every minute of it
Bernard fanning can sing for me anyday.
Still a great song in 2023
Not sure if there is a point to interpreting this amazing song and video, but I see it as a guy that is slowly losing control of his life and beginning to give up and his mates are basically watching the inevitable and want to help, but in the end, are too late.
I came across Powderfinger on the MI:2 OST and have a been a fan ever since. It was this very track that got me hooked.
Bernard fanning can sing for me anyday.
Australian legends
watching every hit powderfinger song and crying and loving every minute of it
My lost love introduced me to this band in ‘96 when I was in Australia with the US Navy. Not too many Americans know about them. None that I’ve met, actually.
Best Powderfinger song ever!! Vocally sky high and brilliant! Well done
The Anthem of the shift worker! You guys rock
I don't know why I've always comeback to this song every night 🤣
I've heard this song many times but never noticed before the spoken voice snippet at 3.05 until it was on the radio this mornin. Cool
This is disgustingly good
THIS SONG IS SERIOUSLY EVERYTHING TO ME....THE WORDS ARE OMG....CAPS ARE NECESSARY!!!
I’m a massive Inxs fan of over 35 years, came across these guys recently they sound great

Ye man! Had absolute pleasure to do live gigs a few times. Just can’t be replicated.
Living in US now, played this going through west Texas, worked like magic
Brilliant song. Great, underrated band.
Love this song and Powerfinger, so do my children. Played Powerfinger in the car and at home to death, all part of my children's education.
I had both a white VC SL/E and a white VL!! Best old times with PowderFinger!

god I love this song...and band
I've gotta say that MI:2 soundtrack was one of the best albums I've listened to from top to bottom.
Good music moves the soul...Powderfinger is music and whilst I wish they were still making music, I'll appreciate the great stuff they have given us
I hang out with the guy who directed the clip. At the Camp Hills bowls club of all places. He's done a few Powderfinger clips and stacks of other stuff.. He is not what you would ever expect. But you wait until you see the hardware in his back yard studio. Such an interesting totally unpretentious guy.
I did the security for this clip it was filmed I Dalby Queensland
I was a fantastic day with theses guys
Odyssey Number Five' The Greatest Australian Album Ever Made

Awesome song ..one of their best
I'm currently 26, I did really well in my visual arts degree back when I graduated at 21and even got to represent my university for the national graduate art show. For the past five years I've been stuck in working retail and this song just describes my life situation too damn well
Best way to finish off the MI2 soundtrack.
