These guys are, for me the last great Aussie rock band. At age 54, I’ve seen The Angels, Midnight Oil, Divinyls mental as anything INXS etc. when Powderfinger called it a day the good old days of my youth kind of stopped too. Ahh, the pub rock of the 80’s and 90’s
Cold Chisel, yeah mate got all their albums, unfortunately never got to see them live for some reason or another. Jimmy Barnes solo was as close as l got.

I remember when I had the mi2 cassette, this song used to be one of the last songs on the B side. Didn't notice this masterpiece until later on and turned out to be my favorite song in the cassette. It was year 2000 and it's been 20 years now, still listening
I had the CD and I honestly think it was transformational for my music taste; sure there was some heavy rock and metal on there, which I was growing into after being a UK indie kid, but I think most of all it introduced me to Powderfinger with this which is probably one of my all time favourite songs
landed in perth from UK in 2001/2, got to my hotel in Scarborough, switched on the TV to see a Music awards show where Powderfinger and Something for Kate won all the awards. hadn't heard of either at the time but loved both bands ever since.
Found this song driving up the coast after a messy divorce. Probably saved me. Went on to buy everything they released. 20 years later still gives me shivers
the first time I heard this song was in the Mission Impossible 2 movie. I bought the sound track cd and fell in love with this song. its amazing. I also bought the powderfinger album Odyssey Number Five. what a wonderful music.
My dad played this to me from the moment i was born, to the point in which i got sick of it when i was around 10. But i started listening again, and i have not stopped.
Any composition (& there aren't many great ones) that can arose nostalgia is nothing short of brilliant. And Powderfinger do it time & time again with such grace.
My lost love introduced me to this band in ‘96 when I was in Australia with the US Navy. Not too many Americans know about them. None that I’ve met, actually.
Not sure if there is a point to interpreting this amazing song and video, but I see it as a guy that is slowly losing control of his life and beginning to give up and his mates are basically watching the inevitable and want to help, but in the end, are too late.

Here's one for the train spotters out there. The clip shows him in a VB Commodore but the head-rests in his shots are the VL which is following. Scotty said they paid $500 for the VB.
Saw the last ever show.. I cried so much but the best part was 2 of my kids got to see them at 7 and 6 years old.. they had lil finger shirts I made on!! Miss PF!!!!
I hang out with the guy who directed the clip. At the Camp Hills bowls club of all places. He's done a few Powderfinger clips and stacks of other stuff.. He is not what you would ever expect. But you wait until you see the hardware in his back yard studio. Such an interesting totally unpretentious guy.
Best album of powerfinger I remember hearing them when they were just a pub band in Townsville we thought these guys suck now look at them awesome hard work pays off.
It´s amazing that Powderfinger remains (and will remain) unknown for so many. Luckily we´re not one of them
Such a shame that Bernards solo music was crap.
Hello from cold Russia to sunny Australia.

This song featured on the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack as well which i believe was around 2000-2001. Such a talented group of musicans.
Great song. One of my fave PF songs. Ripper vocals Bernard. Love the guitar on this one too
Tell me where I'm
Supposed to begin
An unhappy life working
Some kind of dead end job
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
Lean to the side
Whisper it quiet
The end is in sight to working
All night around the clock
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
But it's not my kind of scene oh yeah
Footprints on the other side
Remind me where I've been oh yeah
I'll watch from the other side
Tell me where I'm
Supposed to begin
Move out of sight and onto
Some life I'm dreaming of
For everything you thought you had
Has gone from worse to bad
So I'll just wait and watch the wheels
While you're turning back
But it's not my kind of scene oh yeah
Footprints on the other side
Remind me where I've been oh yeah
I'll watch from the other side
Pulls me over and it drags me under
Pulls me over and it drags me under
Alright now alright now
Bernard fanning can sing for me anyday.
