    When I fit some Tannus tires on my one bike as a test, I left them outside in the sun for a while to get them some flex and it helped a ton. I tried hot water but keeping the water hot enough, for x minutes was a pain, but probably also a technique. It was also summer, so I'm guessing in the winter you'd be hosed. I really do love the idea of no chance of flats ever, but the tires ride rough and are slower, come on bike industry there's a market for this if done right!

  • @0xsergy

    rubber tires like that need to be made for specific rider weights. They're probably made so that everyone can use them so they can likely support 250+ lbs... but if you only weigh 160 it's gonna be harsh. More options with softer compounds would be nice but that increases production/RnD cost significantly. Maybe companies could focus on a specific weight to support instead? idk.

    I've seen these or similar on bike share bikes when I went to China. So I assume the main application is the cheapest, minimum bar usability that never punctures, making the bike share service as cheap as possible to run since you'll never need to service a bike tyre until it literally disintegrates. And then just sell surplus to consumers probably at a massive mark-up.

    In over a hundred years, no one has invented a reasonable alternative to the pneumatic tire. (I’m in NYC, hence my American spelling.) It’s quite arrogant for someone to think they can do it. Punctures are annoying, but the trade off is that if a pneumatic tire were puncture proof, it would be too heavy to ride. And here is what happens when you make a non-pneumatic tire.

  • @isamukusanagi
    @isamukusanagi ปีที่แล้ว +1

    omg i had those tires. installed them on my ebike as i use it to commute to and from work and can't afford the time to change a flat en route. they're terrible!! YES they DO feel like they wanna roll out from under the wheel while cornering. But worse, that sensation happens when you're just going straight if you're doing speeds over 18mph. 25+mph causes the entire front of my bike to shimmy. terrifying. switched back to tubed tires, hadn't had that issue since, no roll, no shimmy at any speed.

    How can not keep thinking is whole question, could these ‘comfort holes’, comfort my hole, after a pot hole?

    Imagine spending all that money to find out how hard they are to fit, then creasing your rim on the first ride because they don't have the compliance of pneumatic tyres...
    A nice honest review of them though, as well as the red contorted faces.

    Got this great idea...I call it a 'pneumatic tire (tyre)' that has a bladder inside the tire that holds air pressure at a multiple of atmospheric pressure. The tire (tyre) conforms to irregularities when in motion, and gives the rider a much smoother ride than with solid rubber tires (tyres).
    Nah...it'll never sell...

      I think would be really hard to keep the air on the inside, youshould really try to invent a magic fluid that can seal leaks, that would really be genious

    Francis next time use a boiled water dip the solid bike tire , it will stretch the rubber, easy putting it on rim ?

    Successful Solid tyres have to be like the holy grail - everyone knows they exist, but nobody can find them.

      They exist on factory bikes. They exist as successful because the bike is only used in that way.
