How to Create Abstract Linear Art Using an Intuitive Painting Process | Watercolors and Mixed Media

- As much as I typically prefer to paint without a plan, sometimes I want to practice certain techniques and having a small plan in this situation can help kick things off. In this video, I practice creating different effects using watercolors and then I move to experimenting with line work. I found the process to be slow, mindful and really enjoyable. I hope you will too!

Thank you Gabrielle, for taking the time to share your work with us. These colours go together so beautifully and are ones I often choose to work with. After last week I tried to be braver with colour choice and was disappointed that I mostly just murdered lots of paper! However, I did learn many things that do not work, which, as you point out this week, is something in itself. I like your honest appraisal of your own work, finding things to love and assessing the things you like less to influence future paintings.

It takes courage to do so and YES, YES, YES to learning!! 🥰 I recently created a background that was probably what you call murdered paper 😂😂😂 Before I threw it out, I decided to paint a light coat of gesso over it and wouldn’t you know, I was able to resuscitate it 😁 I wonder what a coat of gesso could do for yours! 🤔 I always appreciate connecting with you ❤️ Thank you for making time to comment with such thoughtfulness and kindness! The large pan was around $40 and I paid for shipping from Germany, but I use it nearly everyday and I’ve barely taken the surface down. I know it seems extravagant but for me this was the better buy.
