Kneeling and Bending at 6-Weeks After Knee Replacement

- This is a great way to bend you knee at home after knee replacement surgery. Once your incision is closed your therapist may recommend you use this exercise at home between therapy sessions.
This is also a great one to use if your therapist is pushing too hard or is too aggressive and you want to improve your knee flexion on your own.

As always, very helpful. I'm 5 weeks post -op and frustrated with my bend of 95 degrees. I have tried many things but your videos have helped me do more in my quest for knee flexion, at home, than any others. Thank you so much.
I’m 5 weeks post op also and I’m stuck @ 90/92 degrees 🤦🏽♀️ I a little stressed b/c I want my knee stuck at 90/92 degrees I guess I’m hard on myself and I hve to remind myself I’m only 5 weeks not 5 months b/c I think I’m I might be doing to much which knocks me down n hve to be in bed a day or two.
7 weeks post op 95° going to try this method to progress more
Not for me....8 weeks only 70° degree
Did the MUA and now officially invalid, the destroyed ligaments and musles, constant pain, knew stiff as a rock...
Thanks my therapist does the ankle slides and it hurts but I like your way better thank u so much❤
Harder to do with a bilateral knee replacement. It’s hard to find any videos for both. How would I do this, one at a time?
Excellent!!! Will try tomorrow for sure. Thanks for your generosity! DB
*I have a question, do you have a general guide on youtube ( videos ) exercises what to do starting on week one , etc* ?
*I realize each PT does things different* . Thank you, your favorite fan!!
Just had a debridement and manipulation on the 16th due to poor ROM, cannot wait to try this!! Thank you!!
Good luck Sherri !! Let us know your progress 👍
Tony so right. It took me longer than 10 months. I had to hold on the both railings and slowly go down. 14 months still I do climb down slowly. Going up holding on the railing I am fine. Preparing for 2nd knee TKR.
I always thought after débridement and manipulative full or nearly full ROM is restored. Is that not the case, do you still have to work on bending the knee post manipulation?
Thank you. I’m going to try that. I’m at 93. But need to get more
Thank you for this suggestion!
Thanks for the comment and subscribing!
Thank you❤
Welcome!
I had my knee replacement in March and I have problems and I can't get it to work
I am six weeks postop and I melt down on one of my wooden stairs without thinking about it the other day. I was thinking since I have 125° flex it shouldn't be an issue. Wow, it felt like my knee was getting electrocuted lol. So I'll have to definitely start slow like this.
looks helpful but I don't have a seat like that. I am 7 weeks post fkr and have reached 100 but still stiff and bruised. Any advice please? Just subscribed.
2 weeks Post op yesterday. Your videos are EXCELLENT. I am not quite ready for this specific exercise and it scares me watching you kneel LOL, but Ill be back for this one when Im ready and I look forward to it. Thank you for your videos, SO VERY helpful.
Thanks, I like this option.
Hi do I do the exercise 6 weeks post surgery. Ur feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙏
Can I get the link to the Facebook page?
Thank you.
Great tip ! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Hi, I am exactly 1 month in of total knee replacement surgery. I’m only at 60 degrees of bending, and that’s because my knee is still super swollen, and it feels like a solid rock it’s so hard. Any tips, or suggestions? Thanks
- im 6wks post op
Stretching in the morning & evening helps me. Just go slow & easy. Try to extend & then try to bend.
I’m like that as well. Ice more. It helps.
I am the same 4 weeks post op. Cryo machine 6-8 times a day 30 min has worked wonders for me when included with raised leg above heart. If you do mot have a cryo machine you won’t regret getting it. Also a prescription of celebrex in addition was the key to getting me from 30d bend to 85d in two weeks. Leg doesn’t feel like a deadweight anymore.
I’m 2 weeks post op …. My thigh has been so painful but I have a cryo cuff for icing and used it loads …. Pain in my thigh and swelling is starting to reduce thank goodness … good luck
Great video
I'm 7 months post bilateral knee replacement and am around 105° flexion. Any suggestions on increasing my range? Going downstairs still is slower than I'd like. Thanks
Going down is always harder than going up. I have some tips on the channel related to going down stairs. Look around and see if any ideas come up for you.
Great move
I had total knee replacement surgery six weeks ago, and I am still puzzled by what causes the slow knee bend recovery? Is it scar tissue or something else?
Hi Mark, I rarely believe it is actually scar tissue. Generally speaking scar tissue isn't painful. There may be some scar tissue also, but the biggest restriction is the swelling, pain, and tightness. If we can calm down the inflammation we can usually improve the flexion.
@@totaltherapysolutions Upon reflection, I agree with your assessment of the inflammation as the culprit. Thank you.
@@markroath98hey mark what is your update
My PT is an ankle grabber! Pushes till there are indented grip marks on my ankle! It's ouchy! This is not an easy road to travel!
How many reps or for what duration do you recommend for each session? Great videos and all are very helpful. Thanks for what you're doing.
Also would like to know as I’m 95 deg 6 weeks PO. Thanks
In my clinic I usually ask my patient to spend about 60 seconds in the position, then 60 seconds resting without pressure on the knee. I have my patient repeat this 3 rounds per episode and around 3 episodes per day for a week.
If it feels good and feels like it is helping after a week I let my client decide if it is something to keep in the program or replace with something else.

My physio doesn't touch me!! She looks at it but tells ME what to do. I'd scream if she hurt me lol!
Can I just use a chair 🪑
Looks like a good way to fall with a chair on wheels. Not safe
