I went to sea in my school summer holidays aged 11 on the Leswood with my next-door neighbour Billy Holland the skipper. Dick Wyness was shang highed as the cook. Poor Billy lost his life at sea. Relly brave men. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the memories Dougie. I was on the Glen Morrison for a few years from 1977 with skipper Chisholm and I'd like to think it was the making of me. Jimmy Gairns kind of looked out for me in my apprentice days and introduced me to the Anchorage, Inverdonn, Moorings, Rat Cellar, Argo, Hay Loft and lots of other cracking places trawler men socialized. Happy days indeed Dougie. Thanks again for your great videos.

EXCELLENT MEMORIAL TO A GREAT INDUSTRY ...AND TO THE TRAWLERMEN OF ABERDEEN. LETS GET A LASTING MEMORIAL TO ALL THE TRAWLERMEN WHO SAILED FROM THIS GREAT PORT.....AND.....DESPITE THE CITY COUNCIL'S WORST EFFORTS.....PUT ABERDEEN ON THE MAP WAY BEFORE BLACK GOLD WAS STRUCK. WELL DONE DOUGIE.....GREAT SITE.

My best friend her dad was a skipper I think he went to the Faroe's often, his name was Wally Bruce. My own mum was born in Fitttie she was a Baxter! (surprise ,surprise- anyone knowing Fittie would know there were plenty Baxters) My grandfather worked as a customer and excise officer in the building thats last seen on this footage. his 7 brothers all went to sea. This was long before oil ever came here and took our pieceful and quiet little town over.

Baxter was a right Aiberdeen and Fittie name. I only came here in the early 70s but knew quite a lot of trawlermen.. Best friends you could ever get. Stand by you anywhere if they trusted you.
