You are the first person to clock that colin only said that bc he didnt wanna call off the engagement (and possibly past traumas from marina and what not)! At the end of ep5 after they already slept together he literally gives her the option to call off the engagement. Hes sooo dramatic and i love him for it.

One of the things I like so much about this episode was Prudence. You could see in the previous episode that she got a little bit teary, in this episode she looks super hurt by the fact that Penelope looked over at Eloise when she was walking down the aisle and not towards her. I think being pregnant is a really giving her this "come to Jesus" stage of life where she realizes that she doesn't have a bond with her sister and that hurts her. Her child, girl or boy, may never have an aunt that looks upon him as closely and with as much love as she looks upon Eloise's child (theoretical). And that's sad. I think she wants to actually try to be nicer. To both her sisters! But that's far from the first time anyone's ever heard of someone going soft because they got pregnant.

I cried two times watching this episode. The wedding scene in church when they are saying their vows. Such a beautiful scene and Eloise crying I was like omg girl you're crying awww! And than when she was speaking with Benedict and he said love doesn't love limits and her friendship with Eloise is a lucky thing and than she teared up and looked at Pen. I cried literally had to take a deep breath, I felt it so much because I had a best friend but than it was over we aren't friends anymore and I just realise that she is so dear to me and that I love her and would be thrilled to see her in wedding dress. At the ned when they huged I was screaming yesss yes they are besties again and I was like yes Eloise you did good I like you again. Now I am like go El

Marcus was 10 but Agatha was only 16 she was a child and she basically got sold off to abusive man to suffer over a decade at his hand bc of her brother. It’s a lot of misery she endured. Some may be misplaced but feeling betrayed is valid.

Feeling betrayed is definitely valid considering it seemed like they had a decently close relationship, but him saying all I knew was that the world was an unsafe place for a young lady tells me that he was also being brainwashed by their terrible father and truly believed he was helping her. What I neglected to comment on in the video is the fact that now that he is older, he should’ve definitely taken the time to address it with her instead of just ignoring it, because he could clearly see it was still hurting Agatha!

Disagree. If I'm well into my 50s holding a grudge against a 10-year-old..... What have I learned over all these years? Not perspective. The thing you expected him to have enough of as a child to have anticipated how what he did could have hurt you. Ridiculous.

There are books written by people who were actually sold by their actual child-sibling. And yeah, it may take like 15 plus years, but they eventually got it..

@@beatyz2 childhood trauma stays with ppl. He did not realize the pain his actions would cause but that doesn’t change that she suffered in a horrible marriage with a man who essentially SA’d her on the regular. The trauma his actions caused doesn’t magically disappear bc he was 10.
And obviously she is capable of understanding and growth bc once they had a conversation, he shared his perspective and apologized she was able to accept it & start to forgive.

@@jessiedobbiereactions Actually the belief that being out without protection for a 16 year old women was actually a completely rational and valid fear. Marcus didn't;t know the character of whom she was married off to he wouldn't have a concept of it, nor would he have a concept of it being odd for the age difference. As people could be married at 14 even. and hell his national history of people being betrothed to even people many a year younger then he was. And once a girl is married off he might not have much contact with her at a later period. And certainly from her reaction she likely would have gone out of her way to avoid it. So yes it's exceptionally likely he wouldn't even as an adult know of her misfortune if it was brought to his attention.
Now saying that we all can certainly understand that her trauma scarred her. And that when traumatized you don't always react rationally. Thats human and completely understandable.
And for that same token, the person she wanted to escape with she has no knowledge to confirm that once removed that she would be happy. Certainly anyone with any understanding of the world know that people can be utterly false in how they present themselves and can later turn out to be monsters.

I have mixed feelings about the Queen barging into the wedding breakfast. On one hand, I’m upset because if she hadn’t have done that, then Polin would’ve had their wonderful wedding night. But on the other hand, it was pretty badass of Queen Charlotte to barge in, order everyone but the Bridgertons out of the room, and got right to the point, showing that she meant business. She truly showed why she’s the Queen of England in this episode. It’s why I love Queen Charlotte so much.

The accusation of entrapment REALLY bothers me in this episode. It felt out of character and out of place and not in an angsty way but in a badly written way. Even as angry as he deservedly is, after rescuing her from her mother (who accused her of the same thing) the cinnamon roll Colin of this season would NEVER have thrown that in her face. Especially not when he's the one who ruined her engagement to Debling, he's the one who got in the carriage, he's the one who initiated their liaison in front of the mirror... the scene in the street after Pen leaves Genevieve's was MUCH better done.

The writers have not been doing Colin any favors... EVER! All the love we have for Polin is taken from the book and a result of Nicola and Luke's acting... I've made peace with this and love them more for it

You said something I have been thinking about. Why haven't Colin asked Pen why she started Whistledown and why she needed it. My issue with both Colin and Eloise is that rather than talking to Pen they shout at her and don't listen to her explanations. Pen only had two people in her life she loved and could talk to (she sure didn't have her sisters or mother talk to) so when she lost Eloise to Whistledown, she was afraid that after finally getting the man she loved she would lose him too and she would be alone again. I can understand her hesitation telling Colin. If Eloise had just talked to Pen, even though she stayed angry, it would have made it easier to tell Colin. But yelling at her and threatening, and giving altimations to tell him by midnight during a party made it impossible for Pen to tell Colin. She clearly wanted to after Cressida claimed Whistledown but didn't for Eloise sake. I think that if Eloise had just talked to her and got a clear understanding why Pen wrote about her she wouldn't have been so angry and could have helped her explain to Colin. Or just stayed out of it and maybe Pen would have told him sooner. Imagine you had just been proposed to, no more than 10 minutes, then brought into the house to announce it, when was she supposed to have told him. Just 30 minutes earlier she was prepared to marry Debling. Whistledown was Pen's pen name for her business that she was planning to continue when Debling was on his travels. Up until Colin got into the carriage he was only a friend. She needed time to tell him, but was under duress from Eloise before she could think about how to tell Colin. Once Colin discovered it for himself even he didn't give her a chance to explain. If the people in Bridgerton would just talk and discuss things there wouldn't be so much drama, (although I live for the drama). Even the Cressida blackmail could have gone better if they all had just took the time to discuss it instead of shutting Pen out. Colin didn't have all the information he needed to talk to Cressida. Eloise should have told them why Cressida needed to get out of her parents house. Then they could have gone to her and mapped out a plan to help her. But blackmail, Pen owed her nothing. She bullied her, ruining not 1 but 2 dresses in public in front of men that showed any interest in Pen. I'm glad Pen used her head to came up with a plan to not only shut up Cressida but anyone else who would try to blackmail her. She also got to keep Whistledown, help her mother and sisters, birth the heir, gain the respect of the queen and get her man.❤

Colin didn't say anything inaccurate last season. If you are unaware of feelings (or those feelings haven't yet to surface), then his statement is not in error.
His wording is absolutely near perfect for its intended audience. Which was a group of marriage aged single men. Remember gossip isn't the purview of women. It happens in both sexes and is reported by servants who wait on men and women. And spread by lords and ladies among their own groupings.
Colin has been showing care and attention to Penelope for more than one season.
There are two primary reasons, and both to the benefit of Penelope and her reputation.
1, By denying the courting, he is letting his fellow marriage aged gentlemen know she is on the market. Not only to them directly but to any other male they would speak too.
Now we do know there is one significant exception to this. If a higher ranked person shows interest it increases the interest in lower lords. But This doesn't apply to Colin. Colin is simply a lord. Now his families senior enjoys the rank of Viscount. So he's better connected than a family of Barons. But his family is lesser to Earls, Marques, and finally Dukes. Now if Colin was in fact the senior in his family, it would certainly give some boost. But Colin provides just a. familiar connection, and being third in line (and that's before if any of the men have a male heir) means its very unlikely that his line would get the title. His family would still provide a boost in a least in connection, but it's an indirect one. So the idea of him showing interest would only marginally improve her standing if at all.
    2. The reason it needs to be firm, is that Colin and Penelope are known to be seen in public together for multiple seasons. And that he isn't seen just in fully public settings. For example following when confronting the fraudsters in a private room. He is later seen leaving said private room with Penelope. Thats like being seen coming out of the dark walk.... A soft denial would give rise to the very real possibility for them to be having inappropriate relations. Thus ruining Penelope. During this period marriage aged men and women were not friends, were in fact deliberately set apart just to prevent such rumors. A strong denial shows that not only is Penelope still open for a suitor, but that she still has her honor intact.
And of course there is his additional personal view of just expression of shock that anyone would misrepresent his friendship for something else.,
Now people might infer a negative opinion of Penelope based on how they view her (and obviously as a listener in the shadows how she sees herself), but Colin doesn't make a single negative statement about Penelope. Thus he isn't implying anything about her character. Even his attitude, which shows shock at the idea, isn't shown with revulsion or derision in expression.
