They are all definitely a work of art… It’s been a few years now since I have participated in Steven’s MKAL … I am always amazed by the finished shawl… and the detail of each person’s work.He is a great teacher! :) blessings and happy knitting!
Hi Jana. I just watched your latest video where you said your washing machine broke. I had to deal with an old 18 year old washer where the spin cycle made so much noise that I thought it would do damage to my kitchen, and my daughter bought me a new Whirlpool washer that cost her $700.00 including new hoses attached to the back of the washer and connected to hoses to the wall. It works great, and I am really enjoying doing laundry now. I really appreciate how easy to do laundry now. I hope you get your washer to work. My daughter did not think she needed to fix the old washer, and the delivery people took the old washer with them to be thrown out, and she paid extra for that which was included with the $700.00. My 18 year old dryer still works really good. Take Care. 😊
Hi Jana. I am finishing doing a scarf for a 911 Emergency Dispatcher who has been friendly to me through the years who asked me to knit him one. I have been working on it with Fisherman’s wool in dark brown and oatmeal colors. I think he will like it and appreciate it. Take Care. 😊
Yes! I will participate as I have done for last 5 years. And like you I will also participate in the future. I think it is so exciting and I love all the excitement and I have learned so much 👏🙏
This will be my third MKAL. I think S.W. is one of the most talented teachers. I think his MKALs are such a cool experience and as you said, a great opportunity to learn new skills.
Yes I'm taking part for the thirth time. Made the Twist and Turns and the Geogradient. You're learining so much about knitting the shawls In my opinion Stephen is a great designer and a good teacher. Love your vlogs so much. Have a great weekend.
I have never taken part in the MKAL before, so this will be my first year. After observing for the last two years I’ve decided now is the time. Looking forward to seeing all the different yarn choices.
I knew as soon as I saw you held up your projects that you were going to do a MKAL wrap up! It was fun! I’ve only done the last two years. Looking forward to Thursday!
I love your shawls. My sister and I started the Twists And Turns and only finished the first part. Since we didn't do last year we are trying again now.wish we could sit and knit it with you. Can't wait to see what he's come up with this year. Lolly and Susan in Washington state USA
You are such a brilliant knitter Jana. I have to say, I do like the Shawlography the best of your selection. I love the colours, and the look of all the different stitches.
My first WestKnits MKAL was Color Craving, I have done it every year except a couple I missed. I’d like to make the ones I missed someday 😁 I just love participating, I have little rituals that I do every year and I enjoy it so much 💕 My favorite is Twists & Turns… or Starflake…. Or Color Craving….. Least favorite was Speckle & Pop, that one took me two years to finish.
I remember you knitting on the Twists and Turns when I first started watching you. Wow the time has flown by! I’m not planning to take part this year but I will be following along and maybe I might get tempted to knit it once I’ve seen what it looks like at the end. Instead I’m going to knit one of Ambah o’Brians’s spooky shawls as she is doing a spooky knit along atm. I can’t wait to see what your Go Go Dynamo shawl looks like as I love your colour choice 😍
Heheee, I got so excited when I actually understood the word without using the translator. My Swedish is rubbish, but I've learned a ton of words, just can't put them togehter. 😂
This will be my third Westknits Mkal, and I´m really looking forward to it. I am going with low contrast and very "earthy tones" this time. (My first two were a bit more colorful.) I agree with you a 100%. This is a great way of learning new things and getting out of your comfort zone, the end result is just a bonus. Sometimes you really love it, sometimes not so much. But for me it is the process that matters. I love your bold colors for the GoGoDynamo. 💜💛
I'd never considered joining an MKAL before but after watching your previous video, I felt very motivated to do it and during the week, I finally chose the yarn bought it and joined the MKAL. I'm really excited to do it!!
All your shawls are beautiful, I never did one although I would like to. But they are all much to big for me, so I watch and enjoy you knitting the next one.
I love how much you learn from participating in Stephen’s MKAL and will do at again this year… I have participated every year since 2016 and have had a lot of fun with it, some I wear others was just a good challenge to make… I have to admit that my 22 shawl is still a WIP, as my color pop was not working so I cut it out and now I need to major damage control😂 but one day… My 23 was frogged and will never be, I could not find a solution to clue 1 that I liked☹️ yours is beautiful and I like the hippie wibe, but my crochet skills are just not there🫣
Wow, those are some impressive numbers! I've only done 4 so far. I'm neither a great crocheter, but granny square is pretty easy. If you like the look, give it a go.
I only started watching knitting podcasts in 2020 (cause it was this miserable year that brought me back to knitting, I found there are so many simple things I didn't know, I found youtube could help, then I found the podcasts and the rest is history) but whenever I found one that I liked I watched back. And I am kind of sorry I wasn't there for Slipstravaganza because everybody seems to love it and I love how it looks, I want to knit it at some point. I did Shawlography. With a lot of modifications because I didn't want this or that so I just omitted them and near the end I just decided, go rogue, do two color brioche alternating all the colors and this is what I did, and I loved the end result. Then for Twists and Turns I just hated the process immediately so I frogged my unfortunate start and never came back. And I thought, people I've watched loved Slipstravaganza so much, Shawlography less, Twists and Turns was a challenge, what direction is Stephen going to? So I didn't even sign up last year and I'm glad I didn't. This year, I was just curious, so I watched his videos. Now, the thing is, back when I wanted to do the Twists and Turns, I had an Autumn pallete in mind. I came up with some colors, they weren't the best but I thought, they'd do. This year, I watch Stephen and I see an Autumn mystery kit. Eh... Yeah, I bought that. After seeing the kit, I'm kind of realising how hard it is to come up with colors that represent autumn and also have high contract. What I received is brilliant - in my opinion anyway. So there will be a shawl with these two colors together. Is it going to be the MKAL shawl? I'll wait and see. I agree there is so much to learn every time. But with those bind offs and cast ons in Twist and Turns... come on now. There sure has to be a more enjoyable way to get these loops (crochet?). So I've not bought the pattern yet, and I'm going on a trip without any knitting for a significant portion of October anyway. I very much hope I'll like the pattern and knit it a bit late but we'll see. Ah, and also, the videos showing the techniques have so far been public, not restricted to people who purchased the pattern. So I'm waiting to see the pattern. This time I really hope I like it but, eh, we'll see.
Love these shawls. Yes I'm doing this year as well. Shawlography is used a lot and Twist and Turn was very challenging My colors for this year are dark gray and maroon. Thank for sharing!
Go go dynamo will be my seventh mkal! My favourites are slipstravaganza and texture time. I love the purple with the neon yellow, I'm excited to see how they knit up together!
Thanks for showing all your MKAL shawls. I started in 2020 too! My favorite one is also Slipstravagaza. I am taking part this year. But have not finished last year's shawl. 😊
Firstly how beautiful you look in your lavender linen And how masterfully you pick your colours - my favourites are the first two as the Strawberry sundae combo is not my jam - at all 😂 I’ve done 8 Mkals so far and love the whole process often losing sleep over my colours By now I have a whole tub of shawls with clever combos and colour pops - that usually I don’t wear as my style is now more subdued and classic, very into the neutral Danish aesthetic mostly. So my choices this year are Dark Gold (looks olive) and Beige from Biches et Bushes - love woollen spun non superwash. But my mohair dares are a camel and Jelly from Hedgehog Fibres so you see there is a bright pop still.
Your Westknits' shawls are a visual delight! I would like to go on the mysterious adventure one day but first I think I need to knit a non-adventurous one (I'm not really a shawl wearer - I prefer cowls and scarves). I was wondering, would you knit any of these mystery patterns again, now you know what the end result will look like?
Hi Jana. Slipstravaganza or Shawlography. Both beautiful. 😀 Didn’t like all the hateful comments that went around when the Geogradient Shawl was released. Put me off. 😢
Yes, I’m also joining SWMKAL again this year. Can’t wait 😊. my question is of the shawls you have knit for SWMKAL which one would you knit again and why?
I think I'd knit Slipstravaganza again, because I really enjoyed the process. It felt to me that it had great knitting flow and I'd like to see it in another colour combo.
My first one was slipstravaganza too. And it is my favorite shawl. My twists and turns is abandoned in a plastic bag, I recently take one of the balls to knit a cardi so I don't know how I am going to finish it, if that happens.
Yes, I am participating for the fourth time. Loving the process, bur not much of a shawl person. Have chosen a kit from Danish dyer It’s Yarn in my go to colour scheme: blue. I really hope that brioche is not included
I'm so ready to take part! I frogged the twists and turns, it gave no joy 😊 but I knitted other designs of Stephen(hiberknitting projects) and I learned so much! What would you like to learn?
I am joining in on the madness for the MKAL!! I have not finished the Twist&Turn. I was hoping to finish before next week. I got stuck on the cable strips in clue 3.!! Which shawl would you like to knit of SW that is NOT a MKAL! Love your show as always!!! GO Go Dynamo!!!
I don't think I'd knit Starflake. But if I ever do, it would be in a low contrast or maybe even speckled yarn. There is something about the centre that just feels too harsh for me.
I have a category for you 😂 Which one do you get the most comments on when wearing it?! I think they all look amazing. I haven't knit any of SW's shawls but I find it really fun to watch others knit them during the MKAL, and maybe one day I'll have enough confidence to have a go at my own!
The giant tassels always get lots of comments. 😂 But I think the most noticed one is Slipstravaganza, it looks very impressive over a simple grey coat.
Loved watching your shawls 🤩👌🏼 I’m New here om you Channel. I love the mushrooms in the back, do you talk about Them in one of your episodes? 🙏🏽🍄🍄🟫🍄🍂🍁
I enjoyed this episode but, no, mystery knit alongs are not my thing at all. The only SW KAL shawl I've liked has been SlipStravaganza but, honestly, ALL of the shawls are far too big and I'd never wear any of them. So, I avidly pay attention as his knit alongs progress, but I only watch. :)
I made Slipstravaganza; ❤ it and wear it often in the autumn. I finished Clue 1 of Twists & Turns and set it aside. I was interested to see your shawls. I won't be taking part, ever! For a few reasons. I don't like to embark upon a project when I don't know what it's going to be. I don't like large shawls as I feel swamped by them. I also don't feel I would be competent enough. So I'll watch along with you. Happy Knitting!
Hello isn't it wonderful how one person s amazing creativity is causing excitement all over the world.. Steven is so inspirational ❤

I’m contemplating dyeing yarn for this MKAL. Last week I had no intention on participating. Your enthusiasm has given me a nudge.

And now I'm searching for the spooky shawls. Not that I need more new cast ons!
I am doing my third shawl! I can’t wait for it to start and I now look forward to it each year!!!
Yes, I am going to join the MKAL this year! I have a uppläggningsfest thursday evening if you want to practise some swedish!

Slep Stratham a looks so great on you and you look so nice today
Definitely taking part again! I also started with slipstravaganza. I never finished twists and turns . My most work is Geogradient! ❤
Looking forward to seeing a really neat shawl this year. 😍♥️
I love your colors for this years MKAL. I'm not doing it this year, I have to many other things going on.
Go go dynamo will be my third mkal, the twist and turns I finished but never wear, think to try it with tassels. Thank you for the idear.
I’m excited! It’s only my second one but I m hooked. Love your color choices!!
Firstly how beautiful you look in your lavender linen

Still sitting on the fence. I did some of the early ones with a mixed result, but maybe it's time to try again.
Hi Jana. Slipstravaganza or Shawlography. Both beautiful. 😀 Didn’t like all the hateful comments that went around when the Geogradient Shawl was released. Put me off. 😢
Fun episode 🎉
Yes, I love mkal and have done the last two. If you were to knit another slipstravaganza what colours would you choose?
Yes, I’m also joining SWMKAL again this year. Can’t wait 😊. my question is of the shawls you have knit for SWMKAL which one would you knit again and why?
I think I'd knit Slipstravaganza again, because I really enjoyed the process. It felt to me that it had great knitting flow and I'd like to see it in another colour combo.

Oh, I totally get why your Twists and Turns is abandoned. 😂 I almost did that as well.
Yes, Twists & Turns was a drag.
I'd love to learn some new stitch! Or maybe try a new shawl construction. What about you?
@@FinnishKnittingStories the construction after clue 1 is very promising 😄
Just signed up for the KAL, my first😊 I wish you could ship your yarns to Canada
Mwah! ❤❤❤
Not going to do it this year. I’ve got too much going already. I may buy the pattern later
❤❤❤
I am joining in on the madness for the MKAL!! I have not finished the Twist&Turn. I was hoping to finish before next week. I got stuck on the cable strips in clue 3.!!
Which shawl would you like to knit of SW that is NOT a MKAL!
Love your show as always!!!
GO Go Dynamo!!!
I would love to knit Aurora Cabin Shawl. I think it's sooo pretty! ❤
i am going for yellow and pink and white mohair
Sounds like a great combo! ❤
The shawls are beautiful! Would you consider the Starflake to knit off season?
@@FinnishKnittingStories haha yes I can imagine!

I'm glad ya'll enjoy them. You'll never catch me knitting one or EVER wear one. So gawdy...give me classic and natural colors.. 😊
