Mowdowns are another one of those "Triangle Breaker" units. That's one of the reasons why it took a little while for players to figure them out. There are "Combat Triangles" or Rochambeau built into Conqueror's Blade. For instance, Chargers rush Archers, which shoot Pikes, which stop Charges... It's a lot more complex than that, because you have triangles on triangles, somewhere between the 2 dimensional Star of David and the 4 dimensional Merkabah. My point is, that's just the Basic Strategy. "Oh, they have Cavalry out, so I better get out my Pikes." Then, "Oh, they have Pikes out, so I better get out my Archers," then "Oh, they have archers out, so I better get something to Charge them." Until the Prefecture Pikes charge their Archers after their Cavalry ran away, because they saw the sPikes sticking out around the corner... That's how you stop the endless cycle of counter/counter/counter units. Javelins, a lot of players still don't know how to counter Javelins, because they're not Melee, they're not Ranged, they're this hybrid of Melee, and Ranged, with Shields, and a Charge... Honestly? Charge them with Sword/Shield units, preferably ones with a Heal to recover from that first Volley. (M@As, and up.) The Motown Battalion is another unit like that, where they have a hard counter to their hard counters, so your best bet is bombarding them at Range from an unchargable position, because they're pure Melee.
Yep, I agree completely. I've been taking my Tercio's out much more because they are one of MoDao's greatest counters. But one thing that I can't get over is how much more competent they are compared to other unshielded melee units in the game. They are not only specialized units aimed at taking on cav charges, but they can take on any role other than being a shield wall. This makes them a master of all things melee while also being the perfect anti cav unit. It might be because of their T5 status, but it's also because of the dev's need to over tune the next best unit in the game to earn money. So as a result, they are the only T5 melee unit other than the maidens that are competent, and therefore dominate the meta right now. I know a patch is coming to save the iron reapers and hopefully, they'll fix the shillidars as well, but I fear that the T5 units now with leadership doctrines will outshine every other T4 unit like how the T5 cav have against the old T4 cav. And as a result, more than half the units in the game will become less competitive on the grand scale of things. (My favorite paladins are 255 leadership while my MoDao are 256, so why take paladins when you have the better all-round unit, the MoDao? The same goes for my 260 Tercios compared to my 230 jav sergeants) Let's just hope the dev can find a way to balance their leadership after the increased leadership doctrine drop rates.
@@AlanApogee We can second guess the dev team all we want. I chose to see the Venn Diagrams of Chargers, Ranged, and Infantry units. The units that fit in between, and the ones that don't fit anywhere in there. The Mowdowns are above average at everything except range. You have any Falconetti Gunners in your Barracks? Tercios are okay, but they can still get Charged, and Mowed Down. If I had to pick a counter-unit, I'm gonna say the Mobile Artillery.
The reason why the Modau are kicking ass is the same reason Pike does. They're not OP, the vast majority of the playerbase just don't know how to fight them. Unlike the Shieldmaidens. This is losely based on Historical Warfare, so the lauded Spartans got beat by Sarissas, and Peltasts. Then they got beat. Then they got beat... You can call it "Power creep." I call it Progress...
Damn, how did you survive the infinite cav spam that is the field battles with berserkers? Or it's just me not knowing field battles outside of ranked battles. Must of been a sight to see regardless
Soo bad unit control soo bad hero skills soo bad enemys soo bad allies. I would like say somthing good but i can not. They just suaside imto your modaos. And enemyes not really defend hard. Can i ask for your level . I am not play frontier version i dont know how good players are there and other things, but if i will catch players like this into my own game i will be soo mad not really skill into gamaplay from not sigle one player. But it is only my poits of you also have level 2800. If this is low level game tham it is ok but for me nothing exiting.
I'm about 800, but I play normally with all purple season banner players who put out 2 gold and one purple warbands, so quite high level. What I can say though, is that the game is cherry picked and one of the rare cases of winning really hard. But also the game happened 2 days after the MoDao unlock so no one really knew how to play around them.

Tell me how to counter grandpas?
@@3арек Like any Spear/Shield unit.
That Dual Blades ult dodge was insane. I re-watched a couple times but couldn't see him. How did you see him coming?
you can sort of see the outline of the db. It's really just an experience thing.
Another great vid in the "ART" series
this deserves more likes
Wonderful. This reminds a game in the fields where i got 300 unit kills with berserkers.

we want to see SILAHDARS vs Modao
MoDao win 100% of the time in duels, don't recommend them until buffs
This was some nutty gameplay but I have not even seen a leadership doctren yet so is the increased rates just a frontier thing ?
Seems like so? It's being pushed quite heavily with the new secret doctrines event in frontier right now.
What veterancy modao you
Bottom
why do you play so zoomed in lol, zoom out and you would have seen that maul coming from the side to grab you...
Habit... Been trying to change lately but something always feel off about it being zoomed out? lower fps? I'll try zooming out more
@@AlanApogee For me,the more zoomed in , the more immersion I feel in the game.
