Thank you for pointing out the 'band aid' situation. Too many times irreplaceable things get destroyed and we call it a win because the people got what we call good things. It's just a consolation prize for westerners who didn't get to take over completely, the westernized housing and such are them getting their foot in the door.
As an African, I loved hearing your thoughts on how beautiful we were. I read it too last week and even though I didn't like that it's set in a fictional village as opposed to an actual one, I'm seeing it in a new light now. I think because I live here, the names of the characters were so annoying and unreal, but the message is important.
I have listened/watched a few of your videos and I love that you are critical of what you read. You are brilliant at pointing to what doesn’t work for you but then also saying what was good (if anything) about the book. That brutally honest approach is 1000% more helpful than sugarcoating everything. Thank you for that. And your giving straightforward social commentary is refreshing. I have the Imbolo Mbue book and can’t find it (my son my have stolen it 🙄😂) but it sounds like something that I will love.
Kenya what do you think about a pink and yellow vlog- The Happy Place by Emily Henry and Yellowface? Maybe another if they are in your favorite colors too….😭
You should read “If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English” by Noor Naga. Your inner lit fic and English degree girlie will love it. It’s so complex and it even gets meta.
Ive had such a meh month reading as well. All the books have been 3 stars. But i read how beautiful we were last year and i did love it, but i found it difficult that it was ao dense sometimes..
I realize that months have passed but if Ray is still behaving the same way- these are the things that worked for me when I had similar problems with my box turtles-- I fed them nightcrawlers after which they became very active then I alternated with dry dog food that had been softened after soaking in water. It provides all of their nutrients even vitamin D (from sunlight)
I’m sorry but once you started talking about Ray. I totally lost interest in any of the book talk! 😂😂😂😂😂🥰🥰🥰🥰 ONLY you would have a turtle that loves drama!🙃🥰😂
Idk I loved “Wrong Place Wrong Time” but I enjoy hearing your opinions. What thrillers do you actually enjoy because it seems like you don’t like any of them 😅
I am so glad someone else was bored with Wrong Place Wrong Time cause I couldn't stand that book. It was boring, I hated the final picture of it all, some parts felt a bit thrown together for the sake of mystery, I was tired of the main character sounding like a fox news conspiracy theorist with the "Was it violent video games!? Was it because I'm a career woman instead of a stay at home mom!?", it was just bad overall for me. But maybe I'm just not the right audience for it cause it definitely felt like a book written for the "live, laugh love/wine mom" demographic (nothing wrong with that but that isn't me lol)
you gotta be a rich anorexic white girl or really like those girls to enjoy miss rooneys books 😭 normal people was singlehandedly the worst piece of literature ive ever laid eyes on
Why do I love the turtle updates 😂 like Ray our cousin
One of y’all need to come get him then give mama a BREAK
Come on Ray! Eat your veggies! 🥗🥕🥦
He so bad
Stop recommending this type of books to Kenya y’all 😭
I’m so confused, who is recommending these books?
We need to find them asap
Like I’m BEGGING. But also if i keep falling for it who is really the fool?
HIM NOT EATING VEGGIES KILLED ME ☠️☠️☠️
Ray is so diva

i'm late but ooh i love these longs vlogs! (also, can i ask where you got your jeans? it's so hard to find jeans that fit well)

All of your thoughts are my own. I could not stand it. I could have dnf it
Not gonna lie, your description of Wrong Place Wrong Time made me want to pick it up
The description and idea is so good
Have you read any Sally Rooney books? I’m deciding if I should get into her
Sallie Rooney is the epitome of sad and listless 20-something’s navigating life and relationships.
you gotta be a rich anorexic white girl or really like those girls to enjoy miss rooneys books 😭 normal people was singlehandedly the worst piece of literature ive ever laid eyes on
u should read “florida woman” by deb rogers. its so good and the ending’s fucking crazy lmao
Ray🥰
