First Time in ARGENTINA! 🇦🇷 (not what we expected) - Buenos Aires Vlog
Hey friends, please let us know if you have any recommendations for more places to visit in Buenos Aires/Argentina! We read every comment and it could be helpful for both us and other people Thanks so much for watching! 🤗🥰
You should go to Tigre, is in BA suburbs (30 km from downtown) it's the Parana river Delta, nice to visit and boat ride. Just take the train at Retiro terminal station, is a direct Journey of about 1 hr.
Outside of BA (you need to take a plane), you have the Iguazu falls (my personal favorite), Calafate or Bariloche which are main attractions of the country among many others.
In BA, as a quick reference "alongside" the river you have Recoleta, Palermo and Belgrano neighborhoods which have the most shops, bars, and famous places.
Other neighborhoods in BA are more residential, but still have some cool places, for example in Caballito you have "El patio de los lecheros" for a cool dinner
@@DonForseChannel We went to Iguazu and will post an entire video from there soon 🥰
That woman who shared the mosquito 🦟 spray with you was so kind and generous with you! It melted my heart! Mosquito spray was in such high demand that you couldn't find it anywhere and still she shared it with you❤! Super sweet!😢
She was sooooo kind!!! It was really touching we felt honored. Argentines are so nice! 🥰🤗
@@WyattandReyka 🥰 I'm glad you felt welcomed and found kind people in your trip! When I visited the States I met awesome people as well!
Enjoy your stay and come back soon! ❤️
Definitely will come back soon we loved it there 🥰🤗
And we’re so glad you found kind people in the USA!! 🤗🥰
In itself, in Argentina, the largest immigration was Italian, followed by Spanish, French, German, etc.
Super interesting!!!
🇦🇷🇮🇹🇦🇷🇮🇹
No, the largest one is Spanish.
More than 90% of Argentinians have Spanish heritage and less than 50% Italian. Spaniards have been coming here since 1500s and in the mass migration (1860-1930) Italians and Spaniards came almost in the same amount. After that, Spanish took back its 1st place on European immigration.
@@JoaquinCeruttiyour numbers I believe are wrong. 90% spanish? I think is less than that, also more than 60% have italian background.
Hello, I tell you, the president does not live in the pink house, it is only his workplace, the president lives in a country house in the city of Olivos, province of Buenos Aires
Seems like he should just live there instead of driving every day. If we were Argentinian president we’d live at the pink house haha
@@WyattandReyka actually he does
He does? Everybody else in the comments says that he lives in olivos 🤔

They should really warn tourists about Dengue in summer
unfortunately this is something new... dengue used to be a problem in tropical areas... Buenos Aires weather is changing... it's getting hotter during summer and a lot of rain... the perfect conditions for mosquitoes...
We are not in summer, dengue is something new for this area, not even we ourselves get used to the idea of spending all day with insect repellent in hand, surely for the next summer season we will be more prepared.
My doctor advise me before we went at the end of january, he said bring a ton of mosquito’s repellent. The mosquito start when we left mid febuary so we were not bothered. He told us about the dengue fever and the only protection is mosquito’s repellent, so always bring your’s. It was our fourth time in Bueno Aires and the hottest we experienced. We are coming for three months next year. Argentinians are so nice people, yes there is people asking for money and pickpockets like any big city in the world, same precautions as in New York, Paris, London, Rome etc… the culture, tradition, food, people that’s why we travel the world but always come back to Argentina.
Hey there is a mosquito invasion and dengue epidemic in BA so better take care and use bug spray. Dengue will ruin your holidays and in some cases can be very dangerous. Cheers and enjoy the city!
We did not know but not we will be careful!! Thank you for warning us 🤗

Try argentine icecream (delicious), specially, dulce de leche flavour; try eating asado (argentinian barbecue), having mate: if you get along with argentines, they will invite you. This beverage is not famous for its flavour, but for having it with friends, family, co workers.
Great feedback!! 🥰🤗

Amazing!! Happy learning. 👍🥰
If you like soda water you should buy the sifón ones (the blue bottles on the right at the 11:11 mark). They are designed specifically so the gas doesn't leave the bottle and the bubbles don't reduce throughout the days once you open it.
We love those!! Ended up having a lot while in Argentina. A bit confusing to open hahaha but great
The Ateneo bookstore was originally the theatre "Grand Splendid" opened in 1919. It functioned as a theatre & movie theatre up to the late 80's, then only as a movie theatre until 1999. In 2000 it became a bookstore.

The soldiers that you saw marching are called “Granaderos” they are part of the “Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo general San Martín” what you saw is the changing of the guard, it’s like the buckingham palace changing of the guard. The grenadiers were created by general Jose de San Martin and they are the presidential guards and also they guard the tomb of San Martin inside the metropolitan cathedral and maybe you saw them at the door of the Casa Rosada that they also guard.
Bienvenidos chicos ❤

Buenos Aires is sooooo nice!
What you caught witness of with the "Patricios" was a guards change, just like the unknown soldier's tomb with the Marines, but here is on the resting place of one of our leaders who helped free the country from the Spanish Crown in the 1800's. José de San Martín (1778-1850).
Super cool! We were curious about that
They aren't Patricios. They are Granaderos of San Martín's Regiment.
The Patricios were from Cornelio Saavedra's Regiment.
👏😊
🥰
Hope you enjoyed our country
We did! A lot! Argentina is in our top 5 countries we've ever been to for sure 🥰

In Argentina there's also the other large "European" metropolis of the continent (along with Buenos Aires and Montevideo), it's the second most important city in the country: Rosario:

th-cam.com/video/wrhiuytbXyQ/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/zsE6JBjn4ME/w-d-xo.html
and although Argentina is very varied, most of the country continues having an "European" appearance, although different from Buenos Aires and Rosario, they r "alpine" cities (Swiaa/Austrian styles) in the south of the country, such as San Martin de los Andes (in my opinion : the most beautiful in Patagonia)

I don't know that Milka cookie thing you bought, but it's not some typical Argentinian thing, because Milka is a Swiss chocolate brand. You can tell by the name, milk chocolate is why Switzerland is famous for its chocolate. They invented milk chocolate. Because otherwise there's no reason why Switzerland (or Belgium) would be known for chocolate considering cocoa doesn't grow in Europe... They're famous cause they came up with milk chocolate, hence brands named "Milka".
I'm with Reyka not eating and walking on the street.

Mafalda hates soup. So for her to be saying "This world is a soup!" should tell you what she really means. I love her. Definitely check her out if you can find the comics in English.

Let's help you a little with more information.
The Casa Rosada, built on the Fort that protected Buenos Aires is the office of the President, but he doesn't live there. The Presidential Residence is north of the City of Buenos Aires in Olivos and has a big park.
The soldiers you see marching are from the Granaderos a Caballo General San Martín Regiment. It was created by our national hero José de San Martín to fight in the independence war. Then they were part of the Andes Army that crossed to Chile to make them also independent and then to Peru where they found the armies of Bolivar, that arrived from the north. San Martin left the regiments in Perú under the orders of Bolivar that finished the domination of Spain in South America. The regiment disolved in Peru and the remain of their members had to return home by their means. In 1880 the corpse of San Martin was repatriated from France where he had died in 1850. It is said that seven former Granaderos presented themselves with the remnants of their uniform and kept honour guard to the body during all the night. They were the last Granaderos alive. The Regiment of Granaderos was recreated in 1903 and works as Presidential Escort. The tradition remains that seven soldiers do the honour guard to San Martin who lies in a lateral chapel of the Cathedral. You've seen the officer with four soldiers going to the Cathedral to replace the two soldierse making their turn as guards.
The Cabildo is the colonial bulding for the government of the city and its surrounding, it was a mixture of executive and legislative body. The present Cabildo is much shorter now. Originally it had five arches on each side, but they were demolished to make room for Avenida de Mayo and Avenida Diagonal Sur.
Argentina is a very large country. Buenos Aires has many sunny days but also rainy ones. As a subtropical place you have the four seasons with a quite hot summer with ocasional thunder storms with heavy rain, an autumn with a mild temperature, a winter with very cold (near zero Celsius) and sunny days, or not so cold but cloudy/rainy/humid days. And in spring we have the strongest winds with a mixture of sunny days with nice temperatures or some days with rain and wind. But you can find Amaicha del Valle, in Salta Province, that has 360 days of Sun every year.
Mafalda didn't like at all soup. She even used the word as an insult like the S word.
Buenos Aires was founded for the first time in 1536 by Pedro de Mendoza but some years later was abandoned. In 1580 Juan de Garay establishes the city for the second time. In the two squares that surround the Obelisco you can find the Argentine flag on one side, and the flag of the City of Buenos Aires, which is white with a coat of arms on it.
The Teatro Colón was built in 1908 but in 2010 it was restored and modernized but having the caution to no alter the acoustics. Luciano Pavarotti said that to explain that every error of the singer will be exposed by the perfection of the acoustics. Teatro Colón is also one of the few in the world with production capacity for each play. There are workshops for scenery, clothes, shoes, props, wigs and has schools of art for dancers, singers and players.
If you come tu Buenos Aires in summer it is advised to get some repelent. This year we have an invasion of them, but they may be dangerous because we have Dengue disease that is endemic in Brazil but has progated south and has arrived to Buenos Aires.
The Ateneo bookstore was originally the Theatre Grand Splendid and then was a Cinema. Finally the El Ateneo library bought the building and restored it to its former splendor.
Wow! So much good information thank you! 🥰
