    Even through the vlog, Kate sounded fantastic! And I laughed so hard with the shot of Jerry picking up the fallen British chocolate 😂😂😂

    Scotland is a wonderful part of the UK but best of all it has to be the people.

      We agree. We really enjoyed our time in Scotland and the people there made it extra special.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Your food has looked much better than I would have expected from Carnival.

      Other than a few service issues, we’ve never had an issue with the quality or selection of Carnival food. It’s better than most people think.

    Great vlog! My Mom, who was from Glasgow, used to joke about the weather there, by saying "that was a great Summer we had last Wednesday!"

      Sounds a little like what we heard in Newfoundland as well. Something about that climate makes people so friendly and happy - go figure!

    Had haggis in Inverness with family and was surprised we both enjoyed it. Apparently it is special to individual butchers with seasoning. The funny part was Granny in law we were visiting told us she doesn’t like it at all!

      Lol. That was our experience also with the waitress at the pub we were at.😉

    Enjoyed another great video. Scotland is beautiful, even with the rain. Would love to cruise around the UK, as my Mum was from Ireland. Another bucket list trip, after getting to Alaska in Sept. Fantastic cruise on HAL Koningsdam. Happy cruising!

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to hear - we do the Koningsdam in July! The rain was actually perfect for Scotland and so fitting. If we had to have rain on any day - this would be the one. And in 35 days of travelling Europe this was the only rain day we had!

    Greenock looked lovely. And Kate Lindeman was also lovely and sounded divine. What things you are able to find ...the T-Bone steak flavored bubbled chips...wish you had bought them.

      Kate is awesome and Greenock exceeded all our expectations. One lasting regret from the trip is we didn't try the T-Bone steak chips

    Jill, love all your dresses. Where in Canada do you buy your clothes?

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Many of the dresses are purchased while departing out of the USA on cruises - usually the closest Ross Dress for Less. Sometimes some are found at TJMax when doing some cross-border shopping. Not a lot are bought in Canada - if so then Winners would be a starting point. The dress shopping seems to be an organic ongoing adventure - where when a dress is found it's purchased (usually at a GREAT price). Except when going to Ross - there's usually no dedicated dress shopping trips. Hope that makes sense.

    Scotland is spectacular! I've tried haggis before and actually enjoyed it. I think it's reputation is undeserved, lol. The soprano is such a talented lady and that small taste of the duet gave me goosebumps. Thanks for sharing!

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree! Kate is wonderful and we even had a chance to talk with her around the ship and she's delightful in person. Yes the haggis was less scary in the real-world than what we've heard for years.

    Loving the vlogs! I was born in Greenock, but left at 9 months old for England. Subsequently 26 years in Australia. Must try and get back there next year when we do our Scotland trip!

      Born in Greenock. What a beautiful place - but if we lived there we'd need lots of trips to warmer climates.

    You have to try the haggis next time! I actually tried and liked it on my first visit to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 in 2015. I love it there too! 💙

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what we saw - it appears the stigma around haggis is worse than the real thing. We certainly are more likely to give it a try - now that the unknown factor is gone

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She said it was good - but then again, she had tofu for dinner! It wasn't a scary looking at we expected - not sure what we were expecting though!

    Would you recommend excursions on this cruise, exploring on your own or are there some ports you would recommend excursions?

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly there’s no easy answer. Some ports were better suited to exploring and others were in industrial areas that better suited excursions. We usually don’t do ship excursions and on this cruise we didn’t do any ship excursions. It was all figured out by ourselves in the fly - often the night before with our internet package and phone.

    Mushy peas? Was that supposed to be the Scottish version of wasabi, or did it really just taste like baby food?
    Otherwise, that little slice of Scotland looks amazing! Though it would have been great to see Glasgow, I totally understand why you didn't want to risk long rides in and out of town.

    • @tvandereet1469
      @tvandereet1469 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not like wasabi it is literally peas smashed to a mush. Not from Scotland but just watch the BBC you will see it pass.

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tasted like mushed up peas - I think it's something we've seen on Coronation Street. So a British thing as much as Scottish?

      Reminds me of the fluorescent mush we were served in Montreal KFC…labelled as coleslaw.

    I've been catching up on your stuff and quite enjoy the vlogs. Big fan of Jemini Acoustic. It appears to me that the public areas are not crowded at all...was this a low attended cruise?
    Love your b2b itineraries, but when I search it seems Carnival isn't as hospitable on pricing for solo travelers as some of the other cruise lines.

    • @CruisingCanucks
      @CruisingCanucks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Yes we've stayed in touch with Jemini Acoustic since the cruise and they are about to get back on the Carnival Miracle in a few days. The cruise was close to capacity - nothing like the partially filled post-COVID cruises. Carnival isn't great with waving the single supplement. We find that sometimes within 90 days you can find deals for that with Princess and a few other lines. It was a great itinerary, and we knew going in there would be a bit of a compromise between the quality of cruise and the destinations. It worked out and we loved all the new places we visited!

      I have been to Scotland 4times. I love it! Some of the people look like me with their strawberry blonde hair. I had my dna done and part Scottish but mostly English and some German.
