I'm a nail tech and a client brought in her bottle of Hermes nail polish to use for her pedi the other day. I was like, dang, I better not drop this. 😅
Is that allowed? Not that I'm gonna go to a nail salon anytime soon but it'd be cool if I liked a certain nail polish and the stylist doesn't have it.

@@hasna2012 Most places do allow it. I've never heard of one that doesn't. Not sure if all countries are the same if you're not in the US.

@@Rae_is_BaeLess product cost but more issues with quality control I guess? Not that I've ever heard of a salon not allowing it, but there could be reasons for it.
It's worth noting that the Hermes polishes are made to match colors and finishes on their bags. So that you can match your nails to your bag. :)
This was what I wondered and came looking for in the chat. Thanks for clarifying. It does make it seem a *bit* worth it if you have other accessories to match.

@@missbeaussie i actually think that make it more interesting and fun. The color are pretty too and different than other luxury brands all ways go for super basic colors that you can easily find at any drugstore
I used to pay $28 for Dolce and Gabbana nail polish. It was worth every penny. It went on perfectly and I could get at least 7 days without a single chip. It was the only brand that I ever repurchased colors from because I hit the bottom of the bottle.
Unfortunately, they no longer make nail polish. They had great colors they I can’t find anywhere.
I like Holo Taco. They have some great colors!
Cupcake polish and cirque colors have GORGEOUS and I mean GORGEOUS nail polishes. I went crazy for awhile there buying from those brands because they have so many beautiful options. Love holo taco too 😊

10:27 Lemme tell you, I shopped around for about 20 years trying to find a red lipstick that looked good on me. I was almost convinced that red just wasn’t for me until I realized that the orangy reds were what I needed. And the same goes for nail polish. Us warm-toned people need some orangy red, Simply!
you may also like a more orange toned blush!! orange toned blushes are my fave
You lucky then because my mom has beautiful olvie skin complexion but the only red that ever looked good on her is M.A.C's chilli pepper color or whatever the correct name is yeah those deep rich brick red is her color. Any other red looks ridiculous on her like they look either too orangey or too blue under tone so colors like fire engine red or even M.A.C's Russian red are not there type of shades..
Im the same except I need blue/pink based red. Most are warmer toned and look terrible on me. I found one (L'Oreal Drumbeat Red) but ofc it was discontinued. 🙄
I’m fairly neutral-toned but I still prefer warm reds on me. I want a garish almost-orange red creme!!
I knew they had to look good on someone! I'm very cool toned and need either a true red or a blue-toned red, the orange reds don't look right on me.
Honestly the colors from Hermes was pretty nice, I was intrigued. Very unique and tasteful. Jimmy Choo's palette was so basic lol.

The Jimmy Choo bottle was actually very clever bc it looks like a stiletto on a heel. Even was made flat on one side to resemble the heel even more
Got so nervous when you clanked the bottles together - I did that when I was a kid and wound up with a hot pink polish explosion all over my parent’s green carpet 😬 lol glad they didn’t crack for you!
I have to admit Yves saint Lauren top coat is one of the best topcoats I've tried, especially if you have to use only clear polish for work or school it dries super quickly and it won't come off in 1 and a half weeks no base coat needed
I have spent $1,400 on HoloTaco polishes. 😳❤️ I recently added it all up. Only a few repurchases.
I had to buy an IKEA storage to fit my ever growing collection. The lennart worked super good and everything actually fits pretty securely.
I think i'm also around that number, maybe a bit less. I just love it too much!
I just added mine up too and I've spent AUD $2850 (~$1900 USD) .... I wish I hadn't added that up pahaha no regrets tho lol
@@louiselikesmuseic Me too ❤️😁 I prob have 3/4 of the collection boxes but I gave on the each keeping each little box and pulled out all I hadn’t used. I have 48 I had never taken from the original collector boxes. Yikes!
update, just did the numbers, and my total is $1,537. I see it as a good investment
The Hermes nail paint was probably created so their customers can create the "purchasing profile" they need to get to the Birkin bag. You gotta dress well, you gotta establish a relationship with a Sales Associate and only when this Associate deems you worthy (that is, your purchase profile"), you can REQUEST for a any of the many Birkin styles. They are never on display, they are not found online. It's all so preposterously rich that my middle class ass will never fathom. But the nail paint is definitely a way for customers to "show interest" in Hermes so the associate deems you worth a Birkin.
The way high society works always baffles me. If I wanna buy a bag, lemme buy the damn bag! 😂
@@ghoultooth they want to be sure only a specific demographic is seen with their products. while any middle class person can purchase an item from Hermes if they have some savings they are willing to blow, the required purchasing profile ensures that only the super rich and wealthy get their hands on those bags. it's gross but it's kinda like brandy Melville only having smaller sizes, because they only want smaller people wearing their clothes

Cosmetics are not counted in the purchasing profile tho 😂😂😂 i have several Hermes perfumes and lipsticks that's not very expensive. But my friend had to purchase slippers, scarfs, and jewelries to finally be offered a bag.

IKR, it’s actually the prettiest color out of the whole selection she had. Its unique or at least hard to find, i feel like hermes was the only one that actually looks designer too
Hermes actually does have a top coat and base coat - not sure if its good, and definitely not worth the price but they do exist!
Pretty sure those are just meant to be decorations in rich people's display shelves and counters. No way would they be painting their own nails lol
As a nail tech at a luxury spa in a pretty rich part of my city, they bring them in for us to put on them. I've seen a few different designer brands, including Hermes just the other day, but no Jimmy Choo or Louboutin yet.

Holo Taco is the only brand i buy anymore. I used to be a Sally girl and i've slowly phased out all that aside from some mermaid colors from the "gel" collection. Holo Taco is highly addictive XD

I feel like I'm splurging when I spend £60 on an Orly collection, when you get six colours in a box. This is just, nah, I'll leave it. Orly and ILNP are my favourite brands, although I've just ordered my first lot of Holo Taco, and I'm soooo excited, because I've wanted to try them for ages, but shipping to the UK was so expensive it put me off. The latest collection finally made me give in! And there's three different finishes, so I get to try different things. 😊
Yeah, I can’t afford the UK shipping so unfortunately for now I won’t own any Holo Taco :( I mainly wear cheap black polishes anyways 😂
SOLAR IS MY FAVORITE US!!! Like, I have to put it out of sight so I will try something else. It's sooooooooooooooo pretty! Great for summer and fall!
Solar looks good over everything I've tried it with!! Hmm now I'm tempted to buy a backup of it.... I need to use my birthday coupon code for a free polish but i just got my royalty sale haul a few days ago, but I forgot to buy a few things, and so on 😂💛
Ive gotten great longevity with the Hermes polishes, and using their top and base coats. The brush shape has also made it easier to apply for wider nails.
The other key to your nails drying fast is to build up a bunch of thin coats, instead of one or two thick coats. As far as those designer bottles - because that’s one reason I buy anything designer, to decorate my vanity - neither are particularly my style, but I’d feel like I got my money’s worth with the Jimmy Choo bottles, since they’re so flashy.

The first time I heard of Hermes was in the Princess Diaries when Mia is tied to the chair with a scarf for etiquette lessons.
Those Hermes ones are gorgeous, but I would never ever ever spend that much on a polish. I don't care about brand names, Holo Taco is the most I will spend because I know it is so worth it and they are my favorites that I own.

11:31 Super Glossy Taco makes a HUGE difference in the durability of your nail polish. I'm someone who constantly uses my nails as a multitool and a Holo Taco basecoat and Super Glossy Taco gets them lasting a week +. Super Glossy Taco has possibly dangerous chemicals so there's Glossy Taco too but I've found it doesn't work as well as Super Glossy Taco.

I have just about every color you could imagine and can't go into a Sally's or Ulta and find a color that stands out because they are all the same. I had fun shopping on your site and only wish I had more money to spend on your whole collection!!
6:51 Honestly, I've seen very similar colors like this from Believe Beauty at Dollar General. I'd say the ones I've seen there are even cuter/more opaque than those too.

I know Hermes for two things only. My mom's perfume which smells horrible to me. It's called Eau de Merveilles and I absolutely hate the smell of it. And another perfume I think it's the Jour d'Hermes which is remarkably better and reminds me of iced tea. Otherwise nothing else comes to mind. My mom owned both for a short period but now is back with the stinky perfume (the former) and another one which is a dupe of another expensive perfume that has nothing to do with Hermes.
What I think is ironic is the people these brands are targeting do not paint their own nails. These are clearly meant for display purposes.
I think you've come out with some really unique shades, but I only use regular nail polish on my toes in colder months. In summer I switch to gel. For my nails I only use gel polish because it lasts longer and has extra strength and shine. I also am a nail tech so I was trained in gel and fell in love with it.

Chanel made a pure linear holo in the 2000's called "holographic" (didn't go far for that one)
Chanel had some good polishes; idk if they still do, but Vamp was what started the non-pink/red/nude color boom in the 90s.
My mom had a phase where she got really into collecting Chanel nail polishes
They’ve actually come out with some surprisingly funky colors over the years.
I think she still might have a bottle of holographic laying around somewhere
Definitely want to see some more "normie" cremes from HT because yes those shades are easy to find at the drugstore BUT NOT CRUELTY FREE! CF nail polish is not abundant and that's one of the reasons I love Holo Taco. Please make more beautiful, saturated shades like Royal-Tea Blue. I was hugely disappointed by my Left on Red purchase because it's weirdly greyed out and desaturated, which doesn't come across in the pictures! The HT line still needs a gorgeous ACTUALLY bright lipstick red creme shade, and ideally a whole collection of them to suit different skin tones and undertones.

I know this was four months ago but it came up in my recommended again and honestly I kind of wish Holo Taco would come out with a similar color to that Hermes Violet maganese or whatever they're calling it - it's just an interesting kind of shimmery neutral purple and I still dig it (but I'm never paying $50 for a polish lol)

Hermes is definitely more interesting. But i prefer the Jimmy Choo bottle. They are known for high heels and i think that's part of where the long handle came from. Hermes' online store here (US) doesn't show those shades as of me writing, but I did see that they have a full nail care line including files, lotion, a topper, and a base coat. Then i got curious and started looking around...their LIPSTICK is more than the nail polish!!! They also have a lipstick case that is $450!!!!!!! I never ever want to be the level of wealthy that thinks that is acceptable in anyway. There's no way those ingredients, even ethically sourced, should cost that much. They were standard shades!
It isn’t the ingredients you’re paying for, it’s the brand name. That’s the unfortunate thing about most designer items. I can understand paying a few hundred for a very well-made leather bag, but for a lipstick? Absolutely not, I’ll stick to NYX 😂

After taxes and shipping to New Brunswick Canada, one bottle of Holo taco (the most expensive bottle mind you) is 39.70$ but in my opinion is worth every penny.

If you have a proper bathroom with beautiful shelving and marble countertops, I can see wanting really nice candles, perfumes, skin creams, and $50 nail polish bottles to fit the aesthetic. If HT made a separate line of premium bottles/boxes with a simple, chic, luxury vibe, I bet some people would want it. Maybe with a matching candle.
