    Great option for urban trips! Been following them for awhile now, I believe the Eli ZERO has been homologated and street-legal in both Europe and the U.S! 👍Keep it up, Eli!

      This kind of misses the point. Electrification of transportation will have different types of vehicle for different use cases - just we already have had for decades with ICE vehicles. And the price point the manufacturer is aiming at is pretty reasonable, especially if paired with the different EV incentive programmes. For anyone living & working locally & possibly with charging at work, this is a (really) cheap transportation option. In Germany for example, they've a very good EV incentive programme. It's €9,000 or ~$10,200 per vehicle. So a first time driver, in their 1st job straight out of school, could get a brand new car for ~$1,700 without having to worry too much about costly maintenance issues normally associated with your usual cheap ICE clunker. What's not to like about that?

    • @lepidoptera9337
      @lepidoptera9337 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@pinkelephants1421 I can get a used car for $3,000 around here that can go highway. No government subsidies required. You aren't solving any real problem here by spending $10k of taxpayer money.

    • @pinkelephants1421
      @pinkelephants1421 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lepidoptera9337 Sure you can get a used car for $3,000 or here in the UK, for a few hundred pounds. But then you have the high costs of maintenance & fueling as I pointed out in my original comment. Many countries are providing EV incentives, it just so happens that Germany's are extraordinarily generous. Incentives won't last forever but the increasing rate of climate change means its urgent to prompt behavioural changes & that includes modes of transportation & purchasing choices in general. Don't forget Gov't provided eco tech incentives aren't limited EV's. Here in the UK you can get help with insulation, glazing upgrades, home batteries, solar panels, heat pumps/installation, 🏡 chargers + installation & businesses are offered some of the same EV incentives to support charging at work.
      It's really important to realise there (is) no cheap quick fix to prevent runaway climate change & the damage we've already caused as a species. But if we don't spend the eye watering sums necessary, starting now, not just humanity, but life in general on this rocky blue marble of ours, is going to be in deep shit. For example: UK Gov't estimates there's only 30-40 years left before UK soil fertility collapses due to modern farming practices; incidently this isn't limited to just the UK. Its a worldwide trend that estimates roughly 50-60 years before soil fauna is killed off. You're probably wondering what the hell this has to do with EV's. I'm simply using it as an example of how humanity needs a root & branch change of thinking - & acting, or we're all well & truly stuffed.

      @g.r.bilyeu4226 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pinkelephants1421 The point is that it's an expensive toy that may be fun and "cool" but it's useless as practical transportation.

    • @pinkelephants1421
      @pinkelephants1421 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@g.r.bilyeu4226 It's far from being just a toy & is is eminently practical for the purpose for which it was designed - a 1-2 person local runabout. If there's no family or large loads to lug from point A to point B, why do you continue to insist on the same old-fashioned idea of huge inefficient modes of transportation such as SUV's in an urban environment for example?
      As I've said previously, different tools for different use cases - just as we do with ICE vehicles. Remember the Smart for Two ICE? So, please, enlighten me as to the difference between that and vehicles such the Eli ZERO? It's obviously escaped your notice that there are (many) small EV's coming to market, not that dissimilar to the Eli ZERO in size & capability - they'll sell like hotcakes & one of those outsells Tesla in China by a very wide margin. People are people everywhere. Not everyone needs, or wants, a tank to pop to the local shops for a pint of milk or loaf of bread. Towns & cities are changing & so are many people's mindsets.
