Please forgive my interjection... I could be way off the mark here, but from what I gather, I believe you are supposed to attend the Milwaukee (West Bend) Musky Expo. Or maybe NOT attend? I dunno. I wish it was here in Madison. By the time I get a hotel room in Milwaukee for a night or two it's really not worth it to me. Plus I'm not driving anymore so it's like $50 for a bus plus $ for a taxi. Can't wait until next month. Going to the Madison show on Friday usually some local people doing shows on Friday.
Dude, I know people from CO, ID, NM, PA, NY, IA, ON, etc. who make it every year. Just network! Find some musky buds in the Milwaukee area or north to stay with & rideshare. If you really want to make it happen, you will. No excuses. :) Hope to see you there!
