I inherited my uncles house back in 2016, I still have the house and car and all the contents, amongst all the items was a collection of coins….including two Kew Gardens… at some point I must have accidentally spent some of the coins buying sweets for my grandchildren, clumsy of me, I read shortly after a young collector had found one in his change, it had made the local paper a few hundred miles from where I live… I hope it was my mistake that would benefit him. Kicked myself at first but one can’t be too greedy….😊

How do you change the coins you don't need back into notes? Bag up and take them to a bank? I imagine with the amount you get each time a Ccoinstar machine would cost you a fortune!
I have bags of £0.50p's going back years. I have a couple of the ones with Tower and flowers wrapped around It. Peter Rabbit car-actors, Olympic games ones, lots of the ones with writing on. And some of them are In Colour as well. Nice Find there.

Not had a clasped hands 50p for some years now in the change. I remember when you got pre 47 50% silver & pre 1920's pure silver in your change in the 70's & 80's. The silver florins 10p & silver shillings 5p all legal tender back in the 70's & 80's & upto 70 years old getting in your change and you could legally spend it at the shops, but of course you would be crazy to do so. Also i remember spending the small halfpenny & the sixpence in the early 1980's. I am 51 now and still call the 50p 10 bob sometimes haha. A bob is of course 5p.
@@1066gaz really? I never ever got a pre 1920 coin in my change in the 70s onwards. I think I maybe got a pre 47 shilling a couple of times in the 70s but I think most were gone by the 80s. Plenty of shillings and florins but they were all post 47 in the vast majority of cases. It wasn’t like I didn’t look either as I collected coins back then. Mostly three pennies and six pennies since they were fairly cheap and there weren’t a huge number of varieties like copper coins and could be bought by a youngster unlike the large silver coins. I didn’t often see 6 pence coins in my change as 2.5p either and they had been removed from circulation by the 1980s unlike the new 1/2p which lasted a few more years. Not that you could get much for 1/2p by the end of its run. Even the 1/2p sweets like sports gums had increased in price making it more or less useless by the time it was removed from circulation in the mid 80s.

Any form of cleaning damages coins you may not notice immediately but even the oil in your skin will do some damage
