Mark Livsey legend has it this guy was a high flying playboy with clean well groomed hands until his Victoria's secret model gf gave him HIV and trust issues. Now he scurries forlorn through bag after bag of dirty coins looking to get over the memories of her diseased tuppence.
Im soooo jealous of these people. I have a relatively below medium coin collection id say (idk how much is a lot, but i have about over 150+ coins (about a jar and a half) and over half of them are from yugoslavia) and every time i see a coin collection im just overly fascinated about where it came from, how rare it is or basically learn anything about the coin. Literally everywhere i go i always try and see if i can find any lost coins lmao.
I got an old 50p in my change a few months back. It was a 1970’s celebration of the uk joining the ‘common market’ with the 12 hands, one hand being female, supposedly in recognition of our Queen Elizabeth. I gave it to my (adult) daughter as she thought it was interesting to pair up with the ‘Brexit’ coin she had for her son.
Noooo bad idea. Maybe it's fine other places in the world but in the U.S doing that ruins value, even doing it by soaking it is risky. They recommend that you only clean them if you cannot tell anything about it, and soak it in acetone then leave it to air dry.
If you get a grubby coin you can clean them up using a little bit of white vinegar ,washing up liquid and hot water ,you leave the coins to soak in this mixture until it's cool enough to place your skin into and once out of the mixture clean under pouring water to remove the mixture and wipe with a soft cloth ,the white vinegar and washing up liquid gets rid of the dirt and grime .
Put them in a big jar of vinegar and hook a 2volt battery up to it both on a metal rod and place in the jar overnight or two nights and they will be proper clean when you wash them off with hot soapy water and a hard finger sized brush it worked a treat for me.
Hi there my friend! I have nearly 100 Olympic 50p coins and some rarer ones. Is there a way to check the price as eBay seems so iffy. I also have 7 Kew gardens coins
When I was a kid my Dad and I used to clean coins in a raw potato by cutting them in half and pushing the coin into the flesh then leaving it for a day or so ,I don't know if this works with silver colour coins or indeed 50ps ,worth giving it a go though out of interest
I thought a wishing well stash. One of the charities could have fished them out and bagged them up. I used to run one for the blind years ago and a lot of the coins came out looking like those. when they had been in a while.
Lol. When I lived in France I came across some euro coins and french franc coins in a bowl with what looked like old dish wash powder & cigarette ash. I cleaned them the best I could. I did keep the franc coins and spent the euro coins. Some were in deplorable shape to where the metal bubbles and was chipping off. Even the grocery store self checkout wouldn’t take some. Took me over a month to spend about 3€ worth of 0,01€, 0,02€, & 0,05€ coins (the majority of them)
What a crazy hunt, amazing Olympic & Paralympic finds Christopher 😊 I have a feeling that the coins have been in water...probably a wishing well. Lafta had some grotty coins too a few days back and we said they could be a workers coins that they had found while cleaning a festive field or carnival and kept them over time....but that many...I would say a wishing well, fantastic video buddy 👍👍👍👍
My daughter age 9 is a huge fan and today dedicated all of her £30 pocket money from holiday on a floppsy bunny in colour from the royal mint it was half price and her brother did the same with a Benjamin coin
It may also be the markings of being in a house fire. The intense heat coupled with the water used to fight the fire can cause the loss of detail as well as an accelerated corrosion of both the top metal as well as the base metal.
These coins look like they have come from a laundrette. After working on a campsite I've seen these worn coins come out of the filters and drains, explainingthe corrosion and gouges. The rest probably from the coin operation of the machines.
There are lots of sites that list the most collectible coins in terms of their rarity or how many are likely to be in circulation, and sometimes current value. The first result focusing on collectable modern coins that comes up is changechecker. For much older coins there may be more useful-detailed websites. Perhaps someone else can recommend a few
Looks like someones beach combing/metal detecting finds. Actually it might be someone who put his stash in a particular place on the beach. Or in a fish tank! Or a fountain?
April 2021, Christopher I am sorry that it's taken me this long to act upon this vlog, I know that it is likely that you have had comments about the state of a vast amount of coins in one sitting, but this is as I dare say the grossest quantity of coins I have seen, my heart goes out to you.
Some metal detectorist has cashed in all the coins they've found on beaches and fields. The bad ones look like beach finds affected by seawater. The reason there are commemoratives among them is because they were probably lost not long after they were issued.
Now I know who’s separating Britanias from shields 🤦🏻♂️.. had all 250£ nicely sorted with 0 collectible coins!! Was you!! Defo.. I got it in London :)
I'm doing metal detecting and these gross coins usually are from the beach. See, a roman coin can stand 2000 years in the soil, but a 2 year old coin turns into crap in 6 months... 😁
You said that the olympic ones are hard to find but i find them constantly! like 1/10 50ps im getting in my change from the shop are olympic. Maybe it's to do with location because im in central scotland.
TH-cam: Here's a 20 minute video of someone sorting coins
Me: JUST HOOK IT TO MY VEINS!
This comment deserves more love
My husband is a metal detectorist and these coins look like some of the coins he digs up x
Ever thought of sticking a pair of latex disposable gloves on ?
Jesus man u could catch all sorts
Mark Livsey legend has it this guy was a high flying playboy with clean well groomed hands until his Victoria's secret model gf gave him HIV and trust issues. Now he scurries forlorn through bag after bag of dirty coins looking to get over the memories of her diseased tuppence.
silver coins........................................
silly wabbit theyre not actually made of silver unfortunately !
It's corona time
Mark Livsey you could also catch all sorts from getting change and handling money, but you wouldn’t put on latex gloves when you go to the shops
I love the idea that that is a metal detectors collection and that is their haul over a number of years ❤️
Either that or a wishing well!

No idea why these came up on my suggestion videos but not gonna lie it's so relaxing to watch 😂❤❤

Dirty Dictionary, is that the one with all the naughty words in 😁😁 fantastic video again. 🤘
There are 5 Paralympic coins in the set, the are Archery, Boccia, Goalball, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Rugby.

Would like to see a video of you cleaning them or at least attempting to
you just leave them in vinegar, maybe salt and vinegar i forget, overnight and they come out shiny.

The equestrian coin would have been the queen’s favorite, plus where did you pick up holy Toledo from love the excitement in your voice!
I had a Kew Gardens 50p once.
I gave it to my friend who lives in Canada as a memory of her first trip to the UK.... sorry haha.

Stupid question, but, should you clean coins and how best to do it?

That was the funniest TH-cam videos I've seen for a while. What would have happened if one of those green coins was a Kew Gardens I wonder ??!!

The dirty coins, most likely been in a river for a while, fished some up like that myself.
Where would you sell the more than face value coins?

Can the coins be buffed up an polished or will that not work?
Just looked through my random collection. I have an Olympics wrestling 50p.....and a judo. Interesting video thanks.
I have that exact binder but in black. What would a normal battle of hastings go for?
What could I do with 1947 George VI ( old 10p ) ?
Should the bank be putting these coins back into circulation? I always thought that dirty or damaged coins are retired x
Hi Marlene, dirty coins would soon clean up if left in circulation. I'm embarrassed to say I recently started collecting 50ps
These coins look like they have come from a laundrette. After working on a campsite I've seen these worn coins come out of the filters and drains, explainingthe corrosion and gouges. The rest probably from the coin operation of the machines.
With the grimy ones put them in vinegar or still alcohol then put in HP sauce. Makes it look spick and span clean
I'm team Cardiff castle it's so rare the royal mint doesn't have one
Do you collect every coin that is a collectible, how do you know if they’re collectibles or even rare?
There are lots of sites that list the most collectible coins in terms of their rarity or how many are likely to be in circulation, and sometimes current value.
