HenReviews the warranty is your choice... wether to buy it from the dealer or from the credit union... honestly, from what we have seen, the dealer can offer better warranties most of the time
@@EZAUTOLakeland When you take the check from the credit union to the dealership, do they add on the price of the warranty to the check or do you pay out of pocket? How does that work?
@@Jr-kc3it Great question! So it depends on how you worked out the deal with the dealership. If the dealership adds the warranty to the deal, and the check is enough to cover it, then you should be good.
@@Jr-kc3it So depending on the Credit Union they work a little different. Some credit unions will pre-approve you an amount and then you go out and do your buying based on that amount. Others, will ask you for a Buyer's Order from the dealership and the buyer order should include the warranty. Our best recommendation is to ask your credit union about it before you start looking for cars, that way they will let you know how they work and you can keep it in mind.
Let's say if the used car I'm buying is negotiable for 8,000, but I want to put down 2,000. I'm just curious if I can pay the 2,000 to the dealership and finance the rest with the CU (this is after I've already got pre-approved from a CU).
Yes this is something that you could do. Usually when someone finance with a CU the try to finance the full amount so they don't have to do a down payment. But if the CU only approves you for $6,000 the other $2,000 you could pay it do the dealership and it would be effectively the same for the dealership
i decided to do it through my credit union. i haven’t done it yet( i go tomorrow). i went to the dealership first and my credit is good and they tried to give me a 20% interest. also tried to scam me into charging me a 1k “reconditioning” fee. i hope that when i get the credit union check that they will not try to charge me that same fee.
If I'm in a joint account as a member, will that affect the loan application? As in the other account holder's credit? Or just mine as I'm the only name in the loan application? Or will the loan need to be under both names?
Akamjot Singh similar process but not the same. Usually credit unions won’t finance purchases from private sellers, they have to approve the dealership. (Depends no which credit union). We also have another video explaining how to buy on Facebook Marketplace th-cam.com/video/tblYUIlCmAU/w-d-xo.html

Each credit union works different, my recommendation would be to find out with them directly. In regards to the dealership, let's say the credit union approves you for $10,000, you probably want to find a vehicle that is lower than $10,000 so when you add taxes, title, registration and any other products or fees the amount financed is $10,000 or under because if you go over, then it will have to come out of pocket.
Awesome, just what I was looking for,so I can pretty much go to my CU and they will give me a amount that I am approved for? Then take that info to dealer and they verify the pre approval and that's kinda it other than the paper work?
Kenneth Ayers yes! Your credit union should be able to give you an approval amount. With that amount in mind you can go shopping for a vehicle and the dealership should be able to get in touch with your credit union and figure out payment directly from them

Hi, I've been approved for $19,000 from my CU, i have found a vehicle that is listed for $10995. Would I have to put a down payment on this vehicle? if any vehicle i find that is below my loan approval amount would I have to or would it be necessary to put down on the vehicle?
The real salesmen that screw you over are sitting in the finance office formulating your loan and adding extras you don't need. So, get approved 1st from many banks before you decide to walk into a dealership. The few $1k's you might save negotiating with the salesman on the floor IS NOTHING compared to $1,000's in interest and garbage you don't need that will be added to your final sales contract. So, get pre approved, tell credit union you are putting >10% down & research your car.

Awesome breakdown of the process. I do have a question. If your credit union asks you to submit a purchase contract (Agreement) for the total owed on the vehicle, can you still drive it out or do you have to wait until the CU give the check? This includes if you give down payment.
Rog3r's most likely yes but in reality, it is up to dealer wether they let you go home or make you wait until they get funded for the vehicle. Most dealers will let you go home after they verify the pre-approval
What about a brand new car.? Like 2020 no previous owners. Straight fro. The manufacturer. Would the credit unions use the same method as what you both were talking about.? I've been a member with my credit union for more than 3 years now. And never applied for a loan.

Yes, they will usually give you an amount you are pre-approved for, that way you can shop around and find the best car based on the pre-approved amount. Then they will require the information on the exact vehicle to finalize the loan and that specific unit. Every credit union works in different ways so contact your CU and ask them specific questions about the process. Good luck :)

I’m opening up an account soon and I have 10k that I want to put down on a 35k Lexus RC 350 F. Will me having my own 10k have a bearing on my approval?
It probably wouldn't since cash in your account can be taken out at any time. However that's a question that your credit union could answer better than us.
Yes, putting $10k down will have a bearing on your approval. It will increase your probability of getting approved. But, it will not help you getting a good interest rate if you have a low score. Joining a credit union will also not help you get the a good interest rate if you have a bad credit rating. Your credit rating is the biggest factor in getting a good % rate. Then, putting
That would be harder. Usually Credit Unions give you a loan and they also give have to authorize the dealership where you are buying the vehicle. However, if i was you, i would ask them.

Look into purchasing a trade line to give you more credit history. Even if you have a family member that has established credit (3 or more years) ask then to put you down as an authorized user. The longer your credit history the better.
Another TH-camr who use to be a car salesman said that dealerships HATE cash deals because they make all sorts of money with fake fees in the finance department! But here, ~3:55 you said they love cash deals! So either you're lying or he's lying!
DriverSteve every dealership is different and work in different ways, for example, you can go to 3 different Toyota Dealerships and even tho they are a Toyota dealership, they are owned by different people and they can earn their money from different places. Also used car dealerships have a bout 30,000 different ways that they can work. So it really depends on the dealership
@@EZAUTOLakeland Regardless, they still want you to finance so that they can insert "fake fees" just to put more money in their pockets! You can't exactly do that if you're paying with a check! Not enough confusion going on to fool you I guess? LoL!

Then, putting
what if im dealing woth a private person, not a dealership?
That would be harder. Usually Credit Unions give you a loan and they also give have to authorize the dealership where you are buying the vehicle. However, if i was you, i would ask them.
I have like 5 months or credit history and I want to get a 2018 2ss I’m 19 and gonna put 15k down do you think I’ll get approved for a car loan at CU I have a 794 FICO score Transunion
TKTONY F i don’t see why you wouldn’t, go talk to them and see what they say
Look into purchasing a trade line to give you more credit history. Even if you have a family member that has established credit (3 or more years) ask then to put you down as an authorized user. The longer your credit history the better.
What if the car is of the streets am I able to use an auto loan to buy a car from the streets ?
Most likely not with a Car loan from a Credit Union or a bank.
LoL!
@@driversteve9345 Yeah a lot of dealerships work that way
Thanks
Welcome

It really depends on what you are able to get approved for
It really depends on what you are able to get approved for
Can this work with private sellers ?
It depends on the Credit Union, most of them have a list of authorized dealers they work with and no private sellers. Give them a call and ask them.
Do you think credit union will easily approve me for a small car loan for around $5500 ?
I do believe so! Especially if you already have a built relationship with them.
Hey man my credit is 755 & im not getting approved from credit union because of my baby credit ...what do i do??
Vaquerito F Chavez they need to step it up! Do you know what kind of vehicle you want? New, used? Brand, make? Etc etc
What’s considered baby credit ? Below 6 months or ?
What you mean by baby credit
What if the dealership doesn't allow credit union
If they don't, then you will have to look at different options.
IS THE UNION JUST FOR USED CARS?
nury chavez not at all. They will give lower interests on new vehicles
