It's a car and it's meant to drive and enjoy. Why else would you buy it? There isn't a car made on this planet that will be any more reliable than the LC. The cost of ownership for the first 200,000 miles will most likely be routine maintenance and that's it. As for buying tires every year, WTF? That's on you. I've had mine for six years and love it! Drive safely and sanely without abusing the car and you won't have any problems.
You should always take into consideration the cost of owning an item. Yes sometimes you can’t afford it and most of the time you make the decision is it worth all the headaches regardless of price/cost.
Regardless of bank account, no one likes getting ripped off. The tires on this car are unreliable, 21 inch low profile run flats with very little sidewall. Lexus replaces (never repairs) these highly expensive tires after a flat. The car is also much too wide. Parking in shopping centers is difficult, and the car will end up uncomfortably close to adjacent parked vehicles. Who needs worry after shelling out over 100k?
my oil change was $120 at the dealer, owning it in US is great. Insurance is high because of it's a V8, other than that doesn't cost me anything other than gas during my first 3 years.
Why did you purchase the car .. in the first place. It’s pretty much a high end luxury sports coupe .. in my opinion.. but will still be more reliable than other car in its class ..
At the end of the day, LC 500 is a sub super car. My wife drives LC500, and I have E39 M5 and 997 GT3. Compare to my two cars, LC 500 has been extremely cheap to maintain.

I had a similar reaction to owning an M340i. Awesome fun car but I spent too much time worrying about the car. So it seems like your reaction is more of a general reaction to owning certain luxury cars.

Highly reliable vehicle with highly unreliable, expensive tires. Enormous 21 inch low profile run flats are the worst of all worlds. Hit a pothole on a car this heavy, both the tire and the rim are likely to need replacement. Lifespan of the tire is no more than 12k miles if driven as a performance vehicle.

I have exactly the same car I change my oil and filters 6 years old perfect condition and I’m taking long drives like 2000 km and just love it love it love it ❤❤❤I had 4 Merc and never looking back had up to now 7 th Lexus and just can’t even imagine to go back to the german cars this is so much better for me never even comes to my mind that having issues like the german cars have ,the only thing I do winter time when is a lots of snow I don’t drive it drive an RX which is made for winter …. 😅

I believe that the LC500 V8 is no longer being sold in England due to emission standards, so perhaps that has something to do with the fairly low price. I do see a 2018 LC500 with 80k miles on Autotrader in the US(Georgia) for 53K, so the 48k price is in the ballpark
In my humble opinion, when you buy high end luxury cars, you have to take into consideration cost on all fronts. If you’re concerned about depreciation, putting on “too” many miles than don’t buy one or get/or have a daily driver on the side. All cars depreciate over time for the most part, some more than others. Maintenance, well that goes with the territory. Lastly, who cares about attention. So, it is not the LC, it was you not . fully taking consideration all factors.
Just bought an LC with the same spec as yours (Red/tan, one owner low miles with an extended warranty and included maintenance) and your feedback is appreciated. I am in the US and the insurance and fuel is less expensive but the parts cost is concerning. You are right about the attention!

I have very similar thoughts. Love mine & hate it. Replaced tires under 20k miles for $3k. It's gorgeous, very fun to drive (esp the crank noise piped into the cabin), & always gets nice comments BUT the technology is way behind luxury cars like BMW of similar price point. Almost embarrassing behind. 2021 doesn't even have wireless Android auto.The steering wheel/dash appearance looks close to my 1997 Lexus sedan. I studied & learned concierge & all settings to maximize the options but it falls way short. The car wifi is impossible to program with the track input, even upgrading the software.2021 Doesn't have wireless Android auto, stereo system is not good, too many menus to navigate to turn off the display at night since only the dash will dim.Way too much menus navigation to connect BT devices.The tech & aesthetic appearance of the screens n dash need a lot of work.
I honestly believe, like with the LFA, these will appreciate in value in a few years to come. I hope I would have bought one and kept it in pristine condition before that happens
The new dash in the 2024 does not suit the rest of the interior and ruins the sweeping lines of the original design. Personally I'd buy a 2023 and retro fit CP/AA.

My mustang GT tires lasted 4 years. I think Lexus transmission is the cause. It shifts so violent so it cirps the tire bit each time. Also I used Goodyear Eagle F1 which is durable.

i’m surprised. i work at toyota (not lexus) but we have some of the lowest maintenance costs of any car brand. i know lexus is the new features (inevitably less reliable) that feed into toyota 3-5ish years after, but i would still expect better reliability from the luxury toyota
You could keep this car for 20+ years and get the maximum use out of it. It's a Lexus/Toyota it will be so reliable beyond the warranty. Early 90s Lexus SC400 cars are 30+ years old now and with basic maintenance/repairs are still going strong. The LC500 successor will be much the same.
To be honest, this car doesn’t depreciate in value by a lot like those M series or R8s! In Canada one of my friend bought this car for $65k (usd) 2018 model. That car was originally priced at $75k in the year 2018. My friend got this car in 2024! After 6 years the car lost only $10k in value! That’s crazy!

I can't do at 40 USD cause it voids 10 year warranty, all history must be with lexus :) i'm driivng like a normal person + some fun, but rear tires have 2-3 mm of protector left at the end of the season, so while legal limit is 1-2 mm, at the end you already feel far too much wheel spin, with 4S Michelins that is
475 euros for an oil change? LOL My Lexus dealer charges me $140 for an oil change on mine. Also you change tires every year? That's insane. I've had my LC for a few years and the tires are still in great shape. I consider myself an aggressive driver, but I'm not spinning tires and trying to peel out all the time. Sounds to me like your dealer is ripping you off because you're allowing it. Your insurance is also high, but I'm in the States so maybe it's just cheaper over here. I own 3 cars in South Florida outright with varying levels of coverage and deductibles and I pay about $3800 a year for all of them. So far I've had zero issues with my LC500 and hopefully it will stay that way.
It's not just oil change but a yearly maintenance cost / service, the prices are in line pretty much with the entire country to be fair, porsche is more expensive, vw/audi is similar
Expensive toys come with expensive costs. Doesn’t matter which platform it is. I owned a 2020 Supra and put 120,000 miles on it. I drove it everyday out of pure joy. It came with costs. maintenance costs on ALL cars have just gone up considerably over the last few years. I actually just put a deposit down on a 2025 LC500 and can’t wait to get it, but it will be something I don’t put as many miles on it as I did the Supra. You’re right, a small two seater is not a good every day car, but it’s great for long road trips if you have to cover longgggg distances (which I do every year.) I think every potential owner should always consider ownership costs because they can be ridiculous. But the cars can be worth it, if you can afford it, and truly enjoy every mile you lay down as an enthusiast. I will largely keep my LC garaged when I get it, and save it for those longer distances. I have a 200 series Land Cruiser that’s much better suited for the everyday life. But it sure is nice to have a beautiful stallion in the stables for when you want it. Glad you got to enjoy it. Probably best you get out from underneath it while you still have some decent value in it. I myself definitely plan on putting 300,000+ miles on my LC but I definitely think I’m going to take my time on this one when I get it. I love that it actually has a Toyota powerplant in it, which will make me want to keep it longer than I did the Supra with its BMW engine and electronics…. At least with the LC500 you know the true Toyota build quality is there and so is the reliability. Thanks for sharing. I never buy a new anything. I am totally happy to let someone else take a 60% plus or more depreciation, then sell it to me as it comes off warrenty, as they risk getting a lemon, etc.
You are correct. You shouldn't own this sports car or any other sports car for that matter. It's rear wheel drive. Of course it handles terrible in the snow. For 100K, there is no better car on the market. It is a value. Also, it's just a car. if it gets wrecked or damaged, fix it. Drive the damn thing! I think you are more of a camaro or mustang guy at best. Half the price new and 1/4 the price used. That said, make no mistake, they are not in the same league as the LC. Leave this car for the true enthusiasts that know what it is and will use it like it's supposed to be used.
💯 agreeing on waiting for the deprecation. The U.S. economy is getting really bad and we are already seeing 2018 LC dropping to 60k, probably it will drop to 50k next year.

As a PhD in Computer Engineering, my wife and I are finished acquiring the latest cars. We are content with our forever cars: a 2021 Silver AWD Lexus LS 500 (wife's daily driver), a 2020 Army green 4Runner TRD PRO (long-distance trips with the dogs), a 2016 3" lifted blue-pearl TRD Sport Tacoma with a 6' bed with over-sized K02's 4x4 tires (my daily driver) with a custom "barbed-wired" headache rack, and our emerald green 2013 MR2 Convertible (1/2-1 day trips---you can't fit much luggage or souvenirs in a 2 seater). I do minor maintenance---oil changes, replacing oil and air filters, checking the liquids, etc, on all the cars. We are a Toyota family for two reasons: their cars are reliable and have no-frills technology. We considered buying an LC but already have a 2-seater for weekend getaways.

U clearly couldn’t afford the car in the first place and bad decisions and driving was the rest. I’m in second year of owning 23. No issues w tires…no crashes. I get either 13 mpg or 28ish depending on my driving mood. That’s on me and I knew that going in. U don’t think the story’s the same for any higher end car? Good luck.

475 euros for an oil change? LOL My Lexus dealer charges me $140 for an oil change on mine. Also you change tires every year? That's insane. I've had my LC for a few years and the tires are still in great shape. I consider myself an aggressive driver, but I'm not spinning tires and trying to peel out all the time. Sounds to me like your dealer is ripping you off because you're allowing it. Your insurance is also high, but I'm in the States so maybe it's just cheaper over here. I own 3 cars in South Florida outright with varying levels of coverage and deductibles and I pay about $3800 a year for all of them. So far I've had zero issues with my LC500 and hopefully it will stay that way.
It's not just oil change but a yearly maintenance cost / service, the prices are in line pretty much with the entire country to be fair, porsche is more expensive, vw/audi is similar

Expensive toys come with expensive costs. Doesn’t matter which platform it is. I owned a 2020 Supra and put 120,000 miles on it. I drove it everyday out of pure joy. It came with costs. maintenance costs on ALL cars have just gone up considerably over the last few years. I actually just put a deposit down on a 2025 LC500 and can’t wait to get it, but it will be something I don’t put as many miles on it as I did the Supra. You’re right, a small two seater is not a good every day car, but it’s great for long road trips if you have to cover longgggg distances (which I do every year.) I think every potential owner should always consider ownership costs because they can be ridiculous. But the cars can be worth it, if you can afford it, and truly enjoy every mile you lay down as an enthusiast. I will largely keep my LC garaged when I get it, and save it for those longer distances. I have a 200 series Land Cruiser that’s much better suited for the everyday life. But it sure is nice to have a beautiful stallion in the stables for when you want it. Glad you got to enjoy it. Probably best you get out from underneath it while you still have some decent value in it. I myself definitely plan on putting 300,000+ miles on my LC but I definitely think I’m going to take my time on this one when I get it. I love that it actually has a Toyota powerplant in it, which will make me want to keep it longer than I did the Supra with its BMW engine and electronics…. At least with the LC500 you know the true Toyota build quality is there and so is the reliability. Thanks for sharing. You are correct. You shouldn't own this sports car or any other sports car for that matter. It's rear wheel drive. Of course it handles terrible in the snow. For 100K, there is no better car on the market. It is a value. Also, it's just a car. if it gets wrecked or damaged, fix it. Drive the damn thing! I think you are more of a camaro or mustang guy at best. Half the price new and 1/4 the price used. That said, make no mistake, they are not in the same league as the LC. Leave this car for the true enthusiasts that know what it is and will use it like it's supposed to be used.
Also, this car will be a collector. 25 years from now, it will be looked at so fondly. In a world of turbos and super chargers, this car stands alone.

As a PhD in Computer Engineering, my wife and I are finished acquiring the latest cars. We are content with our forever cars: a 2021 Silver AWD Lexus LS 500 (wife's daily driver), a 2020 Army green 4Runner TRD PRO (long-distance trips with the dogs), a 2016 3" lifted blue-pearl TRD Sport Tacoma with a 6' bed with over-sized K02's 4x4 tires (my daily driver) with a custom "barbed-wired" headache rack, and our emerald green 2013 MR2 Convertible (1/2-1 day trips---you can't fit much luggage or souvenirs in a 2 seater). I do minor maintenance---oil changes, replacing oil and air filters, checking the liquids, etc, on all the cars. We are a Toyota family for two reasons: their cars are reliable and have no-frills technology. We considered buying an LC but already have a 2-seater for weekend getaways.
