    Nana, I am a hmong wife and daughter/sister-in-law of a lao family. Not only do i dont know how to cook lao food but im also not much of a good cook. I gave this recipe a try and it was a hit! Everybody loved it. First time everybody gave positive feedback to my cooking. I will continue to watch your videos and try them out for my husband and in-laws. Thank you so much for your videos! :D you're a life saver...well, something like that :D Please do post more lao food videos. Others might want to try it to try something different but for people like me in my situation will rely a lot on videos like this! Again thank you Nana!

    Thank you, Nana for this recipe...well actually all your recipes, lol. I made this tonight and it was sooooo good!! I've actually made quite a few of your recipes since I found your channel six months ago. It takes a lot of courage to go public and have people criticize you so I thank you for continuing to help the rest of us who love you!!

    I just made this dish using one pack of noodles; I'm so glad I went ahead and only used 1/2 cup of sugar as opposed to the full cup. Can't imagine how sweet it would've been! I should've halved the rest of the ingredients too...ended up just throwing away the rest of the sauce. It turned out really delicious though!! Thank you so much for the recipe!

    • @CookingwithNana
      @CookingwithNana  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      aww, you could have saved the sauce for later. This was enough for 2 pounds of noodles. I just looked at the instructions in the description and it said 1 pkg of noodles. It was supposed to be 2 pkgs. Thanks for letting me know your result.

I feel blessed to be welcome and to get to learn to cook some of these recipes. It touches my heart. Without your videos I would never once even in my life get to experience Lao culture. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe! I love your videos because you cook from your heart ❤️...
    Side note: but I'm very concerned with the plastic spoon you're using that it may melt and it's health hazardous...

    • @CookingwithNana
      @CookingwithNana  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Al Eng thank you for your kind words and concerns. These are actually melamine spoons, not regular plastic spoons. They are rated for over 280 degrees F. This video was shot over 5 years ago and I think I still have this spoon. I like to use this kind of spoon because it doesn’t scratch my nonstick pots and pans. The scratches on this pan were from other people using metal spoons on it.

      +Quynh Le, you can use any noodle that is similar in texture to the pho noodles. If the noodle breaks apart easily, it won't work.

    How lao people really do this noodle recipe? Based on the sauces you used, almost all of them are similarly used in thailand.

  • @soisoudasmith9557
    @soisoudasmith9557 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know you said use half the sauce for 1 pkg but if I use 2 pkg of noodles will I need to also double up on sugar/oil/shallots/garlic? Or just cook as normal and put 2 packages in and the entire sauce mixture?

    • @CookingwithNana
      @CookingwithNana  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cook as normal and put in the 2 packages of noodles.

  • @mosvaj1385
    @mosvaj1385 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    it looks really yummy. but me i would add little more noodles so it wont be too soggy like too wet or too much of liquid. thats just my thought but i like looking at your recipes.

    • @CookingwithNana
      @CookingwithNana  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mos Vaj you are right it should not be soggy. When I made the video five years ago I didn’t give enough time to let everything cool down. When the sauce and noodles cool down it won’t look soggy.

    What if I don't have thin soy sauce? Can I replace it with kikkoman brand soy sauce?

    • @CookingwithNana
      @CookingwithNana  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sophany Thong You can use the kikkoman soy sauce, but it will make it taste very different. Thin soy sauce is not very hard to find at the Asian market.

    You made enough sauce for 2 packs of pho.. the oil needs to be hot first than add the sugar. You have to cook on medium heat so the noodles wont burn. you forgot lemon or vinegar to balance the sweetness. And its too wet to eat right away. Your suppose to let it cool down and then separate the noodles. Instead of msg.. sub it for chicken bouillon for those who dont like msg. I dont know what region this kua mee originated from, maybe from ban nog? Lol. This tutorial is all wrong
