    I’m having a hard time rapping my head around this wireless aspect, I would love to have my amp adjusted before installation right now. I am having trouble with the F8 six and disc calibration. Hopefully, I have that figured out by the end of the night and I can move into the VXI amp 1005..

    I have recently set my TwK88 up. I did it in 3 stages, so first I checked for maximum undistorted volume at the headunit using 0db 1000hz and 40hz tracks. That took me to 46/50 on my Sony XAV AX8050. I then moved down the chain to the DSP and check there. My headunit has a 5v pre-out so its a good strong signal. I have only run 1 pair of RCA's from source to the DSP. It's a full range signal. I then moved on to the amplifier. At each output stage, I verified that the volume and voltage coming out was the same. My DD1 didn't detect distortion at 46/50, 4v on the input of the TwK88 and at the output of the amps. I think information isn't great with regards to setting up the TwK. I also noticed that the lower the input voltage setting, the more the distortion crept in. I relied upon the DD1 in terms of telling me about the distortion, even though the TwK thought that there was some clipping. Are the input sensitivity numbers indicative of the amount of voltage that is coming into the TwK88 from the source or is it something else? Thanks

    • @shakeelfaris7623
      @shakeelfaris7623 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JLAudioInc I have changed it since. The 4v setting for the input was causing clipping at the input stage. I measured the undistorted volume again which was actually volume 48/50. This allowed me to increase the input voltage to 7.1v. That gave me solid yellow bars without going into red.

    On the TUN software, the older versions have the project levels to select (Basic, Advance, Expert) however the most current version of TUN (ver 3.2) these options are no longer in the software. Am I missing something?

    Hey there. This is one of the best sound tuning videos on TH-cam. Nice work. Helped me a lot. But I have one question. I'm interested in why the peak at about 1-2khz on the first measurement was not tamed. Around 33.00 he reasoned with "because it was the peak of the measurement". Could you please elaborate on that? Thank you

    I have a 1000/5i amp i am going to tune tomorrow. This is the first DSP i have done, but this all makes sense after watching the videos. What i do have a question on, is what volume should the headunit be at, when doing the tuning via TUN? I know we can adjust output via the software, but is there a solid rule of thumb for what you set your head unit to while tuning?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for reaching out, Rick. If it's an aftermarket headunit - at 75 percent and then adjust input and output levels of the VXi based on that!

    Thanks for the videos guys! One question. During any of the tuning process, does it matter what volume the head unit is at? Thanks

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The volume just needs to be at a volume high enough so that you get clear measurements that are above any ambient noise. It should not be at an extremely high volume, usually.

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Certainly. Hit the drop down arrow next to the preset you want to duplicate. But we highly recommend adjustments be made by an experienced installer.

    I purchased the VX800/8 and the VX600/1. If my DRC-205 in plugged into the VX800/8 and the Sub Pre-outs going to the VX600/1 will I need to flash a tune to the 600 separately and will the DRC-205 control the subwoofer level through the 800/8 to the 600/1?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you will need to tune the sub amp separately, but the DRC-205 connected to the VX800/8i will still allow for proper level control of the subwoofer by controlling the pre-outs from the 8CH amp.

    Hi there, is it possible to get the setup manual for this? Not the installation manual but the manual to do with setting up and using the DSP. I am unable to download it from the JL website. Also I'm assuming that it's the output level I would need to adjust in order to feed the amp to adjust the gains on it? Thanks

    Question for the trainers. Should you use a sine wave file as recommended in the video or not use a sine wav file as recommended on JL Audio's support site. There seems to be a contradiction. jlaudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001188267-VXi-Amplifier-Level-Setting-Guide. Regular music files tend to vary in sounds. Some are louder than others. At least the sine wav files are consistent.
    "Since they show when the input signal is being overdriven, they don't require a sine wave to dial in the input signal. Simply play loud music at 3/4 volume and increase or decrease the Input Strength level until the colored indicator turns yellow."

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the inquiry. The processes are different for different amplifiers. A sine wave is more consistent and works best on amplifiers that do not have a clipping indicator built in. For the VXi, RD, and JD amps, using music is easier and requires less tools because they have the clipping indicators built-in.
