Out of all your videos so far, I like this one the most, I think it's because of the music you've used to accentuate the Lepers Character. I really like this character and I wouldn't have known he existed if it wasn't for your videos. Keep up the good work Matt!
I've always held to the idea that a reason for his insanely high damage but lack of accuracy is because of the Leprosy making him too weak to properly hold himself back. Normally when you swing something, whether a bat or a sword, you plant your feet firmly so that when you follow through on the swing you don't lose your footing. But the Leper with his loss of strength and loss of vision can't really do that, leading him to instead just throw his entire body weight into every swing. It leaves him WIDE open for a counter strike and lets the enemy prepare for the coming blow, thus his extremely low speed, and how telegraphed his attacks are due to how he moves his entire body makes him easy to dodge, but when he does connect, you don't just have the weapon bearing down on you, you have the weapon AND the full weight of his body. He may have lost strength within his arm muscles, but he's more than made up for it by just adding his own body weight to the blow instead. It's why he wields an executioner's sword, a weapon that honestly far closer to an axe than it is a sword. His Guild description even mentions that "when he swings, it is all or nothing, crushing blows and massive damage, or the empty whistling of a glancing blow", and his Powerful quotes include him comparing himself to forces of nature like avalanches and a river-dragon drawing on the power of the full ocean. He throws so much of his weight behind every strike that it makes him easy to see coming and dodge, but also literally crushing when a strike connects.
The muscle strength lost shows in his low ACC starting out. His powerful blows never missing a target... Precise, Devastating until each strike became tainted... aimless in the face of degeneracy, unfavored by the Gods he once followed. Thinking death would set him free, his strikes would seem to avoid the targets before him, whispering sweet nothings into his ears as the abominations from below grew closer. However, only by campfire and poorly packed rations did his blows begin to connect again. When he felt the warmth of his companions, the stories and ideals exchanged over the flame, it brought back a faith once lost, a reason to live that was once forgotten, remembering that even in his position, living for one's self is not always the soul essence of a person. Thus, as he grew to weather the Dungeon, his armor and weapons became sturdy and sharpened with your investment. He slowly began to remember that his power was once used to protect others. Thus, as time moved forward, as each expedition grew longer, his strikes became more true. His power became unmatched. And so, the once beloved King, exiled by his own command, entered the Darkest Dungeon time, and time again. For it was not out of greed of riches or fame, but instead, for the blissfully ignorant and the unborn. Or at least, that's what I like to theorize behind it all. (Totally doesn't main Leper whaaat)
Leper: I embraced my people and paid the price, and my advisors became my assassins. But neither disease nor dagger could stop me, now I look for a noble death, a warriors death.

EDIT: 2:32 nevermind. You touched on the real Baldwin for a bit. I wrote my comment before watching the entire video. Sorry! Since nobody else has mentioned it as far as I can see: The Leper's real name: Baldwin, is a reference to Baldwin the 4th, king of Jerusalem. He suffered from Leprosy and was dubbed "The *Leper* King" because of it! By the end of his days he was practically blind and immobile, but still ruled a mighty kingdom by way of his wisdom in ruling himself and choosing his advisors. Now i've seen historic artwork of Baldwin taking to the field in his armor with signature mask to hide his disease and modern artwork to resemble what that might've looked like, but I cant find anything by skimming through his wikipedia page to write this piece.
Yeah his name is definitely a reference to the actual Leper King. The Mask and Armor are more influenced by the movie, Kingdom of Heaven, where he was portrayed as wearing a suit of armour with a face to hide his disfigured one. IRL, he probably never wore something like that because of how hot and dry Jerusalem is, but Hollywood's goal is to tell stories and make them interesting and cool.
TH-cam is weird and broken again it seems, no notification. Anyway great video! At first I've rarerly used Leper because of low accuracy and limited options for back rows targeting, but he is actually great when used with right trinket or with good buff.
