I actually learned how to play this game yesterday for the first time. And this is coming from somebody with a learning disability. So if I can do it, you can too.
Oh my gosh thank goodness. I've had a pack of the pokemon trading card game and I've never understood how to play it. I tried getting a starter pack but still didn't get it. I finally found a video that explains it so easily. There's a lot to process with the game but once you get use to playing it you end up knowing how to play automatically. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I know this is an older video I don't know if you will answer this or not but once you apply energy to a pokemon does it stay like if i use an energy card attached to a pokemon to attack does the energy go away is it tapped like magic and will it stay once the pokemon retreat this video is very helpful for learning the basic rules though
38 year old dad here, just started playing for the first time today with my 12 year old daughter and WE ARE LOST. This helped alot thanks for the vid. Do you lose attached card when you die? Also, if I want to retreat do I lose a turn and do I lose my attached cards when I retreat...
I'm in your exact same boat. I'm 40 and my kids 9. He has binders full but has never actually played the game haha. So im forcing him to learn so i can whoop on him 😬😂
Same here 38 year old dad learning to play with daughter. This helped but doesn't answer everything. I played the game on a tablet and when retreating I didn't loose a turn or attached cards. Selected my next Pokémon from the bench and attacked. Oh yeah Tina is my wife. Her TH-cam account.
I’m in almost the same boat. Today is my first day babysitting a new child who LOVES Pokémon, and asked me to play yesterday. This makes so much more sense than the other videos I’ve tried to watch!
There was a BTS ad at the start it was Soooo Good and thankyou so much. I and my cousin were playing completely wrong but then you guys uploaded this video and I watched it and now I have an idea how to play right XD thx
out of all the youtubers that i watched on how to play you guys are awesome. when the other people explains the game they are so confusing and then never play an example game with the explanation on how cards would work. they basically say play it yourself. you two not only explained how to play but for beginners you basically explained how cards worked on a easy level. i got one question. i play magic the gathering and in the game creature(s) fully heal when they successfully defend you or when attacking creature(s) are blocked by the opponent(s) creature(s). my question is when retreating a pokemon card does the pokemon recover or does the damage counters remain on the retreated pokemon?
Ok, so the energies are used for the attacks or trainers. so you see that each Pokemon has those energy symbols? so that means if pichu needs 2 energies for an attack you need to place 2 energies of the needed type under the Pokemon, but you can only place 1 energy each turn. but if theres a white energy with the star in the middle that means you can place any energies, so it doesn't matter which one you put, but still, you can only place 1 energy once a turn. Hope that makes sense. if you need more help or it doesn't makes sense, reply. No need to be shy. HA that rhymes, have a great day. Peace
When I was young I didn't know how to play so when someone in shcool challenged me in a pokemon battle I would just say " I got my charzard....... in battle mode...." and my friend would say " um.... so you do nothing????
Thank you SO much for uploading this video, I REALLY wanted to learn how to play the Pokémon card game because I have it least 300 cards so thank you again for uploading this video!!!
Thank you for teaching me on how to play this game! I've been trying to find the right video on this topic but this was the only one that I actually understood... So thanks!
Thank you so much guys! I saw so many videos on how to play Pokémon trading game and I couldn’t understand them but u guys when u both explained man it was so much simpler
I got a quick question. I went to the official pokemon website for the rules and it didnt answer my question. Im stumped. My question is this. I have a pokemon with an attack. Go figure. Hear me out. This attack has an ability where if the pokemon is on the bench, the damage inflicted is doubled. How the heck am i supposed to use that to my advantage if you can only attack with active pokemon?! As far as i know you cant attack with benched pokemon. Also the rules say you can use abilities from benched pokemon as well as your active pokemon? How do you explain that
maybe it does twice the damage for all of your Pokemon as long as that Pokemon is on your bench. It isn't that OP because you can only attack with your active Pokemon which is one Pokemon unless theres another Pokemon with a similar kind of ability. hope that answers
I think it means that if the targeted Pokemon on your opponents side (ie the one that is effected by your active Pokemon's attack) is on the bench that the damage done to that Pokemon is doubled.
Ok idk if this'll get answered lol, but question. If a card that requires 2 energies, then it states flip for every energy for attack. Do you do the damaged noted and additional energy card worth
When I was little I always collected Pokémon cards and is soon is Pokémon go went popular I'll look through all my Pokémon cards and now I want to learn how to play the trading card game. Thank you for making this video
So do energy cards only work on one specific attack? so if there’s one attack that has 2 energy and another that needs three, if I have down three can I still use both attacks or only the one that uses 3 energy?
Hi thanks for the the upload. How often can you draw from your deck? And what happens if you don’t draw an energy card out after the first hand... do you look through the pack or draw one card at a time until it comes? Thanks in advance.

Pokemon TCG is fucking confusing. What makes it worse is that you have to memorize the HP the Pokemon has left.
That's what the chips and damage counters are for. It's to keep track of the HP
haydenclaireheroes How much HP does each chip stand for? It sounds really impractical.
The chips have the number on it. If you use dice each number counts for 10
haydenclaireheroes impractical nonetheless.
haydenclaireheroes how many cards should we have when we play?
"that'll damage the cards", she says as she grinds unsleeved cards together and beats them on the table.
