  • Another Ozzy Osbourne banger. Randy Rhoades is an animal on the guitar. I cannot wait to do more of a deeper dive into their music. I also want to dive more into Black Sabbath.
    Here is my reaction to hearing Ozzy Osbourne - Mr Crowley for the first time. I hope you enjoy it!

    This song was inspired by a book about Aleister Crowley that Osbourne had read, and a deck of tarot cards found in the studio as recording of the album was commencing. Crowley was an English occultist and ceremonial magician who had founded the Thelemite religion in the early 20th century.

      We already KNEW how great he was because of those two records with Ozzy. That's why when he perished, he left a huge void. Were you actually alive when he died?

    • @jdbroders64
      @jdbroders64 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Exactly. I was alive when he tragically died and he wanted to temporarily quit performing to further study music at the University level. He was going to take a break to enhance his knowledge of music theory, composition etc. He wasn't 'quitting" music. Far from it.
      With that said, for the all to brief period he was with us he was one of the greats in so many ways. Back in the day, I had a guitar instructor that had briefly known Randy and to paraphrase he said of Randy "He was a gem of a guy. A truly good guy." Everything I've ever read about Rhoads indicates that's true.

    Ha haa! Love that look you get on your face when Randy Rhoads played his solo. I had the same reaction the first time I heard it.

    I'm so glad you didn't rewind after the white horse line. Ozzy answering you with "it's symbolic, of course." was absolute perfection.

    One day someone will come along and play that guitar like Randy did way back when. Possibly. Love the reaction, mate. When you listen to "Tribute" you'll understand a little bit better! Enjoy!!!

    Randy was a source of pride for us here in the Los Angeles/Valley/Inland Empire area. It was a real shock when he died, even though I was real young at the time. There are those of us that were in the Eddie Van Halen camp...and the rest all but worshipped Randy. Man, those were the best times for music....

    You remind me of a younger version of myself. Focusing on the guitar work.
    I'm glad to see that you are experiencing different decades of music. I stuck with/to hard rock. Now that I'm soon to be 60, I have started listening to stuff I would not have given a chance when I was young. So much good music and so little time.
    Enjoy your journey, young man. The music is waiting for you.

    I love the fact that you are a young man who wants to learn about the metal music from your home of Birmingham, the list of legendary metal musicians from there is astounding. Enjoy your journey!

    You just can't beat the 80's for this style of music with the big guitar solos. Good choice.

    Ok first off, I really appreciate you doing the studio version before the live version. I agree, this is the more polished version as it’s meant to be heard. Then do the live versions! Now, Ozzy is my all-time favorite. Seen him a few times and even got to meet him once. This album and Diary were my escape for years as a fucked up teen. Randy’s guitar work is still my favorite, and the standard I hope to achieve as a guitar player myself. I’m sure others have already sung his praises and told you his story as well as I could. These albums just mean the world to me, glad you loved it too. If ya read this far much love from Colorado looking forward to more Ozzy and other vids on your journey through metal! \m/

    My friend if you only knew just how much fun the 80's really were. Awesome music was everywhere and life was just more simple. Yes I'm nostalgic, but it's something that's really hard to put into words. It's very cool to see folks your age discovering music from the time and really enjoying it though. There's lots to hear, so keep on digging! Rock on brother... 🤟
