    This is easily the best video regarding audio interfaces on TH-cam. Thank you so much for spreading your knowledge!

    I'm old enough and I'm goin hybrid, Hardware and Software. Transformers and tubes man, they have something that can't be replicated. I've seen many videos telling me it's "sooo" good these days you can't tell the deference, bs I can.
    Digital Replicated always sounds like its coming through a roll of toilet paper
    Analog Gear sounds like its alive and breathing
    My answer to the people that say you cant tell the difference, How long did it take these guys to master it enough to come close? They took the analog guitar sound they liked then spent hours on the software version to get it right. You plug into a analog and bang your ready and recording, in software your sculpting and clicking and questioning and it never sounds great only ok.

      I'm all tubes and transformers as well, but they really started to shine when I upgraded my converters (from scarlett to clarett).....less muddy bass and sweeter highs....hardware vs plugins is lies in realistic "depht" vs simulation, and you need good converters to be able to reproduce that digitally....Only now I really know what that means.....

    • @blocmovementmedia1186
      @blocmovementmedia1186 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@purpleheart69420 i have been asking the same question. No one has given an answer. Can’t even find a TH-cam comparison video. I have the ssl2+ and was thinking of upgrading. IF THE APOLLO DOES PROVIDE BETTER SOUND QUALITY

    • @purpleheart69420
      @purpleheart69420 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@blocmovementmedia1186 I actually found some videos... And tbh Imo SSL2 is better. It sounds more realistic, the APOLLO sounds more digitalized in comparison with the UAD. Some say the Apollo its also worth it bc of the plugins they come with but tbh the SSL plugins are great too althought I believe the apollo comes with more plugins tho... so idk man... Imo the SSL2 is better because if I want a digitalized sound I can do it in post... but with the apollo you dont really have a choice. Thats a summary of what I heard about them... I went with the SSL and Im happy with it tbh I didnt like the idea of the 4k button but now I kinda like it

    Yes, duh, but the MIC PREAMPS on Audio interfaces are close to pathetic compared to, say, my Mackie ProFX6V3 mixer. Though, my laptop only has USB-A which just does not power an interface well, I don't think. I just record vocals with music background from my cellphone or iPad. A week ago I got an Audient EVO 8, and I just love it; does what I need it to do. Mic preamp volume is kind of low, but if I bring up my DAW, Cakewalk, on my laptop, put in a reverb plugin called Sonitus, and turn 'Echo' on, wow, the volume and clarity go up 200% to 300%! With that setting, I can even hear the creaking of my chair with a condenser microphone, my 15 year old AKG C1000S. Yes, admittedly, what I am hearing is sound input into the microphone processed and magnified by the software, but hey, it is what it is! :)
    Talking about the "expiration date" on audio equipment, seems to me that an interface using USB-A is already, um, expired! 😂😎😉

    dynamic range of around 120dB (eg Clarett or higher)vs 110dB(eg scarlett) makes a huge difference in the "punchiness" of the lows and makes the conversion more linear, not so much the sample rate (which will make the high end more accurate at frequencies above 20k we can't even hear or no microphone can catch).....so you can save some disk memory and processing power there....

    as a beginner, this video is painfully underrated, i learned so much. i have a question though, when i export some of my projects in my daw (ableton live 10) it sounds way lower than other mastered songs on spotify and soundcloud. is this a result of not having any audio interface at all? could an audio interface make the sound better and kinda louder? overall i love this video and I'm looking forward into this channel. thank you so much

      maybe take a look at mastering, i am fairly new to mastering as well, but its about making stuff sound loud enaugh for streaming services etc. and to make it sound more punchy for example

      Go and master it. under -12 LUFS . by using compression and limit . learn the use of threshold .also render your mix and ,open it on your daw (live 10) put these vst on your master fader like izotope ozone . start work with it.

    • @johnmacmara5676
      @johnmacmara5676 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      chek may first normalize audiofiles they drop on 0 db or other vst are recognize the same lvl in signal path. if this not happend i give it up not, for nothing. im doing music for over 17 years, i give it up every day. a audiointerface will proppably not make any diffrence. So if you con on as example Antelope Studio you may get a cookie on your computer where you have a trial time for using the driver without any response on agrement. this will mean that your computer is may affected on a virus or trialer (trialvirus). I would say ofthen is only the driver of a interface a dirffrent result. In best situation you can catch this with own doing setup perfection. But you will lost it if a audiofile not match zero db on Normalize after a time. Maybe diffrent to understand but if you not come to a liked result there is almost not the user the fail, its bad gear, what comes in to a buy new gear affect what the musicindustie really love it first to be bether as you.

Allthough I wished you would pause your voice a litlle.. it is VERY "blaaaaaaaaaaaaa" .. breathe! ;-).. also a bit weird to talk about Clarett 8pre USB (got one) and show the red series.. might confuse the beginner :-).. but basically a great video.. just a little to compressed as it covers a LOT :-)

    I just opened up my studio for booking at my current office space where I usually just make beats. I've experienced latency with my scarlett 2i2 3rd gen and some static/vnyl noise coming out on vocals. I am still on a budget as I am currently spending $ on bills and other products. Im not really focusing on sessions with bands where I need so many input connections. The Mic I'm currently using is a Warm wa87. Is there a Audio Interface you recommend to use for now to upgrade from my Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen if the Apollo Twin is out the picture?
