A lot of the time the creator(s) have a backlog so it gives them time to work efficently without compromising their health and social life....but yeah, you right. Still amazing. I don't think even with a backlog of episodes I could do what some webtoon artists do. X3
I draw slowly because I’m a perfectionist, I will spend 5 minutes drawing a line, be proud, then 2 hours later go back to the line and try to redraw it for another 5 minutes. This happens to every single line I draw.
I find a lot of the time I just stare at my piece for a while after I complete each bit. Not that I get art block but I keep wanting to review my progress too regularly as I go along. It means its pretty satisfying once I'm done because I already know I'm happy (or as close as I'm gonna get) with each bit, but it probably doubles or trebles the time till completion.
Literally this is what I was thinking today wtf- Like, I can be done with the shading of the hair for example and I just... stare at it. For minutes, not even kidding I stare for probably 10+ minutes and kinda zone out, then I remember I need to finish the rest and laugh hard 🤣

A really great exercise to improve your speed (and also the looseness of your drawings) is gesture drawing. Give yourself a very short amount of time (like, 30 seconds) to try and capture the shape of an object. You can also practice drawing characters and environments and scenes AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, without getting stuck on details. Like, just get the overall shape and enough detail to know what you're looking at. :) I find it a fun way to practice.
Omg thank you so much for this! I really needed this! I'm struggling so much to meet my art project deadlines and it's the first time I've ever had a full schedule and I've always been a slowpoke at everything so this was SO helpful! 😭💖✨

Great advice with the combination of two different work fields. I'm frequently working on my weekly manga updates myself. Had to write and submit a storyboard with a screenplay for a storytelling seminar once. well in videos like this the visuals aren't necessarily correlated with what you're hearing so it's probably fine since it's pretty similar to just listening to something ? unless you do keep looking up lol
This means a lot to me because I've beating myself up when I take a long time on one art piece and have tried given myself like a deadline when I should be enjoying the process and having fun with my drawings and taking my time. Also, yeah some of my distractions are listening to the wrong music or clicking videos and procrastinating on youtube so all of these things are really great reminders. Thank you so much, Lavender!!!
Oh god! I needed this RIGHT NOW! I’m drawing something for a project, and I want to get it done... I’m taking a break right now, and oh my this is just too perfect! Thank you 💜
This was what I needed today. I was literally thinking this today. I just realized I can make vector images in Clip Studio for basic stuff like trees and background characters so that I can reuse them occasionally. That should lighten the workload. If anything some of them could probably be a running gag.
i love watching art commentary, music, or true crime something about watching art commentary and just hearing people talk about random stuff then looking up and seeing that they are drawing to is just so inpiring! music, ofc no explanation true crime its something interesting, like a show except you don't have the visuals. btw my favorite true crime person who i would suggest is Eleanor Neale she is just so amazing and has a very interesting voice that's easy to follow along with
Ahh the one about visual elements distracting you in the background is so true. I usually listen to either music, let's plays, Reddit story readings, audios, etc when drawing and doing assignments and I find that listening to music distracts me much less than the other options. Especially easier to concentrate if that music doesn't have lyrics and/or is more of a relaxed beat than, say EDM and such
Fun fact : i watch Lavendertowne’s videos while drawing and it helps bc when I see them in my recommended i think “i need to be drawing while watching her” so it helps me draw more :)
Not trying to correct or be rude or anything Lavendertowne, you are literally one of the only people I watch and a big inspiration I would never insult you 💕 So, about the try not to watch shows or movies while your drawing, in my experience ( which is not much at all but I’ve been drawing for a while ), I like to put on a movie or tv show that I have watched each episode/the movie over 3 times, and listen to the noise since I’ve watched it so many times, I don’t feel bad about missing out on what’s going on. For me, I would just watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone since I’ve read and watched it over 5 times, and the show Bobs Burgers since I’ve also watched each episode over 3 times. There are also shows/movies that YOU could probably fall asleep to, but ( note it takes me *hours* to get to sleep ) I would put on Harry Potter and be asleep before we even saw Harry at all. ( sadly it’s not on Hulu or HBO anymore ;( ) Now this is just my opinion/experience, if this doesn’t work for you, fine! Find something else that works for you, but this works for me and for other people so dont be rude about it if you disagree ( again I know Lavendertowne disagrees but she’s not rude, so if she sees this I don’t hate you or anything, read the top line again )
that's surprising, for me the digital is at least 2 times faster, because of all the tools that i can use; try getting expertise with the program you work, getting used to use keybinds and knowing better the tools can help a lot to get faster, assuming that you want to.
@@guilhermeguilherme7314 I draw on my ipad so no keybindings but, I know I'm slower with digital because that's when the perfectionist part of my brain kicks in ( since I see digital art as a professional thing more that anything else )
these are great tips to be more healthy in our approach for beginning or continuing artist, I was surprised we didn’t see your thumbnail drawn, but seeing your comic process while you talk about school life was cool

And I listen to EPIC music when drawing and it makes me feel like a hero when I managed to draw a line xD But of course sometimes silence is the best... :3
I like to listen to the background music in my favorite movies, it’s peaceful but awesome at the same time. Like I make playlists of every song in that movie. Edward Scissorhands has really good music, so does Corpse bride.
Thank you so much for you tricks! I can manage to control my perfectionism a week after watching this vid. This help me drawing pretty much faster than the usual, around 8-12 time and 15-20 times if I planned everything properly before I was starting to draw commissions.
honestly my art style has changed so much its crazy but it gets more fun the more it changes originally it was realistic then semi realism then realism yet again then kind of cartoony then boom slighty anime and yet again rather cartoony its much more fun and it feels more me :D
I finnaly found a comment that's not from a year ago!!! And also the same thing happen to me with the art style From cartoon to anime to realistic to semi realistic to semi doodle?? well in videos like this the visuals aren't necessarily correlated with what you're hearing so it's probably fine since it's pretty similar to just listening to something ? unless you do keep looking up lol
Same-
Super helpful tips for me since I'm planning to put more content out faster 👍🏻
This means a lot to me because I've beating myself up when I take a long time on one art piece
and have tried given myself like a deadline when I should be enjoying the process and having fun with my drawings
and taking my time.
Thank you 💜
Omg, I read your comics and didn't even notice it was yours. You have amazing work! Keep it up!!
How could you not? Her style is one of the most distinctive ever
Love this vid, so helpfull. 💙🐍
Step eight: Make a deal with Satan to give you the power to freeze time! This is also useful for non-art activities
This was what I needed today. I was literally thinking this today. I just realized I can make vector images in Clip Studio for basic stuff like trees and background characters so that I can reuse them occasionally. That should lighten the workload. If anything some of them could probably be a running gag.
i love watching art commentary, music, or true crime
something about watching art commentary and just hearing people talk about random stuff then looking up and seeing that they are drawing to is just so inpiring!
music, ofc no explanation
true crime its something interesting, like a show except you don't have the visuals.
btw my favorite true crime person who i would suggest is Eleanor Neale she is just so amazing and has a very interesting voice that's easy to follow along with
Lol, when ever I do digital art it takes me hours to do. But when I'm doing traditional art, it takes me less than an hour.
omg yes
Thanks, Lavender for helping me draw faster! I'm really slow at drawing, I takes me ages to draw only a hand.... So it helped me a lot!!!😄
I'm just drawing slower because I'm procrastinating-
🤐
Have you heard of BERSERK : *HIATUS*
What does mean?
Ahh the one about visual elements distracting you in the background is so true. I usually listen to either music, let's plays, Reddit story readings, audios, etc when drawing and doing assignments and I find that listening to music distracts me much less than the other options. Especially easier to concentrate if that music doesn't have lyrics and/or is more of a relaxed beat than, say EDM and such
Fun fact : i watch Lavendertowne’s videos while drawing and it helps bc when I see them in my recommended i think “i need to be drawing while watching her” so it helps me draw more :)
Not trying to correct or be rude or anything Lavendertowne, you are literally one of the only people I watch and a big inspiration I would never insult you 💕
So, about the try not to watch shows or movies while your drawing, in my experience ( which is not much at all but I’ve been drawing for a while ), I like to put on a movie or tv show that I have watched each episode/the movie over 3 times, and listen to the noise since I’ve watched it so many times, I don’t feel bad about missing out on what’s going on. ( sadly it’s not on Hulu or HBO anymore ;( )
Now this is just my opinion/experience, if this doesn’t work for you, fine! Find something else that works for you, but this works for me and for other people so dont be rude about it if you disagree ( again I know Lavendertowne disagrees but she’s not rude, so if she sees this I don’t hate you or anything, read the top line again )
What takes me so long is the fact that I’m a perfectionist and if it looks slightly odd it makes me start all over again ;-;
My drawing time changes depending on if I’m drawing digital or traditional, digital takes much longer.
that's surprising, for me the digital is at least 2 times faster, because of all the tools that i can use; try getting expertise with the program you work, getting used to use keybinds and knowing better the tools can help a lot to get faster, assuming that you want to.
@@guilhermeguilherme7314
I draw on my ipad so no keybindings but, I know I'm slower with digital because that's when the perfectionist part of my brain kicks in
( since I see digital art as a professional thing more that anything else )
these are great tips to be more healthy in our approach for beginning or continuing artist, I was surprised we didn’t see your thumbnail drawn, but seeing your comic process while you talk about school life was cool
I just really envy those artist that their work look like it's so effortless yet still manage to create a beautiful peice and it's detailed.. JUST LIKE SAM. ugh i love those painterly type

Yet I see HUNDREDS of comments.... TH-cam, is you okay man?
Comments are posted immediately because they're worthless, but views are valuable so they are delayed and registered only after they are vetted to not be bots.
youtube is going though some shit right now
Garbage :3 yea
Yeah!there's only 80 views and I just liked the video and like 400 comments
yeah, Im apparently the "first like" :/
Early! Love you Lavender, you always make me happy. ^^
Does anyone else not listen to music when they're drawing?
Cause to me, I like to draw when it's quiet and peaceful. ✌
And I listen to EPIC music when drawing and it makes me feel like a hero when I managed to draw a line xD
But of course sometimes silence is the best...
*CAN I JUST SAY THAT THE TWO PAGES AFTER THIS ONE ALMOST MADE ME CRY, HALEY, WOW*
hey lavender...
do you think you could turn drawing brands (Ultimate Artist, Crayola, etc.) into cute guys and gals? I'd love to see that!
I was thinking how I can do a drawing quick before this video!
A good tip for managing perfection in digital art is to try and not zoom in as much. It makes you focus on the whole image instead of petty details.
honestly my art style has changed so much its crazy but it gets more fun the more it changes
originally it was realistic then semi realism then realism yet again then kind of cartoony then boom slighty anime and yet again rather cartoony its much more fun and it feels more me :D
I finnaly found a comment that's not from a year ago!!! And also the same thing happen to me with the art style
From cartoon to anime to realistic to semi realistic to semi doodle?? (is that a thing???) than anime and now cartoon anime-ish???
When I meant semi doodle is like those drawings from children books looks simple and kinda unfinished but pretty at the same time if you know what I mean 😅😅😅
Lavender: try switching to music or podcasts instead
*Me who watches lavendertowne while working on my comic*
LavenderTowne: figure out what slows you down
Me: Well first of all depression tm, PDDNOS uhm artblock, everything even midly distracting ahh yes I've figured it out either life slows me down or I'm slowing myself down. Its seems to be both at the moment.
yes yes YES
This is a video for me, because I draw really slow...and I need to change it! Thank you!
OH NO ITS THE SUPREME LEADER OF GREMLINS
"Don't get distracted by TV"
Me: *silently turns off drawing tablet, walks away, and gets water"
Tysm! I’ve just realized my perfectionist problem 😅. Also I took up a lot of time on hands and feet and when I made it cartoon blobs it didn’t look bad! It even matched my eyes. Thanks for the tips!
I really needed this! My past drawings took so long to draw and the drawings didn't even turn out to be very complicated.
But how come good artists can draw one line digitally and it looks perfect and then I draw a line and it looks like jelly?
This is late, but: line stabilizers.
Earlyish :D
Btw I adore unfamiliar
"A lot of us try to listen to something or watch something when we draw"
**Slowly raises hand in shame**
So I just read all of Unfamiliar the comic she is working on and now I am mad at myself for not reading it sooner because ITS SO GOOD
Good your voice is so relaxing!
I give up counting how much i heard your videos while sketching this week. Thats totally amazing since im fuckin' anxious when i see the empty page, so yeah, this was a great help, also with all the cool tips.
