Hi I just wanted to say how helpful I found this video!! How much I appreciate the fact that it completely uncluttered with unnecessary talk and details like too many other videos are. The ease at watching and understanding this video is was, for me, perfect!! Thanks again!! I look forward to watching other ones!! 💐
Thank you for your nice comment. I really appreciate it. Please subscribe to my youtube channel and like me on my facebook page to keep up with the latest. Happy knitting!
Very clever, and you demonstrated it so well. It occurs to me that someone had to have been stranded at home in a snow storm of some magnitude to have sat knitting and created this border! Or, it was someone like me who made a colossal mistake and liked the outcome! : ) Thank you so much for showing us all how to make this beautiful edge!
Your movement is so fluid... And I love watching your videos... It's videos like this that's helped me become the knitter I am now. Thanks for all your help!!!
Thank you for this very helpful and clear video. The repetition of the words with the stitches and how calmly you go through this has given me the confidence to do it. The results are lovely.

I love this video you made it so easy to follow and understand. Your method is easier then the hem method which can make your project heavier than necessary. Loved it thanks.
I am a semi-beginner and I am so happy I stumbled across your tutorials. I put my needles down over a year ago. You are inspirining to pick it back up. Great teacher!!!!!!!

Just catching up on some of your earlier video's - what a great stitch is this picot edging cast on. Just getting back into knitting after many years away, so needing some refreshments to get the brain started up again haha - thanks for great instructions :)
Hi, if I need to cast on 54 sts. would I still do the cast on 5 bind off 3 and just keep doing this until I have gotten 54 sts.? Thank you so much! I enjoy your videos so much.
I'm wondering why you cast on five, bind off two at first, but then after transferring the one stitch back to the left on each repeat, you only cast on three more stitches, so it seems like you're working with four and not five. Do you always need an extra stitch at the beginning? Thank you.
+Jane K Five minus the two that you bind off, leaves three stitches - so the first picot is three sts from the edge, and she likes her picots right next to one another - I'll be making mine (on a shawl) at least 3 stitches apart, so I will be casting on five sts after the first picot. Talking to myself here - hoping I get it straight.

A little late, but thank you.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! Can you please give instructions for how to do the matching bind off?
I love this! How would I do the picot on the right and left side of a blanket (1st stitch & last stitch) of every row?
It only works as a cast on as far as I know. sorry.
Just catching up on some of your earlier video's - what a great stitch is this picot edging cast on. Just getting back into knitting after many years away, so needing some refreshments to get the brain started up again haha - thanks for great instructions :)

@falcon1949
sorry it was too fast for you. I hope you'll watch it a few more times and stick with it. Once you get it it's quite easy and lovely.
Hi, if I need to cast on 54 sts. would I still do the cast on 5 bind off 3 and just keep doing this until I have gotten 54 sts.? Thank you so much! I enjoy your videos so much.
For the number of stitches required to cast on, do you count only the stitches on the needle excluding the picot stitches?
Nice and clear! Thank you.
Thanks, very helpful info. 🌼🌺🌸
Thanks for letting me know my video was helpful to you. Stay safe. Stay in and knit!
Awesome tutorial!
Hi, do you think i could use the picot cast on at the beginning top edge of a sock and then continue with a 2by2 ribbing? THANK YOU.
I think that would be lovely. Just don't knit too tight so you have some stretch at the top. Thanks for watching. New video yesterday.
Do you have to do a knitted cast on for the Pico trim?
I'm sorry I just got to this. Did you go ahead and do the picot cast on. You do not exclude the picot sts.
Wow, that's fun. Thanks.
Thank you so much! This is great.
I had the same question as "Love to knit."
@kdolguin
thank you. I love this edging too.
thank you this is what I need to know because I was blocked with my pattern. :-)
Glad to know my video was helpful. New video today where I talk about how I got started in the business of knitting.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
If u use this for the start of a hat will it curl?
It should be lovely.
knittingtipsbyjudy but you didnt answer my question...
Thank you - easy explanation.
Thanks. Love that sweet cast on.
this is only done on one edge?
th-cam.com/video/MUQ-K6upor0/w-d-xo.html
The other end.
Thank You !

I'm also curious about this. Looks like you have a dangling first stitch that doesn't fit the pattern. Why the 5 cast on stitches the first time?
Thank you
Love this for a blanket edge. Happy knitting!
Very well done. I mean, really. Why can't everybody explain it this clearly?
Thanks for that. I'm always happy to know that one of my videos was helpful.
they video was fast for me cn you do a slow one
youtube settings will slow down for you...
I found it difficult to follow at my beginner speed. Showing it slowly a couple times prior to quickly putting stitches on would be helpful.
I hope you eventually learned how to do this lovely cast on. Happy knitting!
Takes much too long, and more complicated than the long tail.
Whatever works best for you. New video today.
