Lotus has taken its recipe of lightness and power to the extreme by fitting the 345bhp 3.5-litre supercharged V6 from the flagship Evora S into the lighter, more focused Exige.
The result is the Exige S. It's the only Exige you can now buy, and is longer, wider and more aggressive than ever.
Our resident racing driver and senior road tester Owne Mildenhall put the car through its paces on the road and on Lotus' famous test track. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
345 bhp, no power steering and a clever TC system, what a fantastic sports car
Great video! Like this guy and the whole format+editing of the vid.
Awesome car too!
damn, it looks so much better
it's been a while since you guys done a good review - well, this one is awesome can't wait for the new Esprit...
great car, great reporter! i usually watch a lot of chris harris and autocar reports and this is up there. well done! :)
love the sound! very sweet V6 sound with a nice whoosh from the exhaust
looks great the new exige s.
Perhaps but I liked how this review involved a road test element too, good video guys
great, clever opening! love the video!! subscribed.
LOVE the new Mansory styling. So much better than Lotus's usual stuff...
I love this car!
i think it looks great especially the back...better than the old exige
Nice V6 sound
omg it looks amazing
it's my fav Lotus too!!!
Beautiful car, somewhat my dream car
I love it already..
I LOVE my 2006 N/A Elise.
There must be SOME way to get the new Exige S into the US!! Want want want!
Good Review - lovely car ;)
The whistle sound of a supercharger in the end :-*
is the track always wet?
1:46 that camera angle makes it look like the door is open haha
Will the S model be available in the U.S.? I thought they had discontinued the Exige here.
I would love to see a camparison vs a Porsche cayman or boxter I think any of them with a s would be bad news to the lotus exige s but truely a lovely car
With intake this, intercooler that or something like that, you can get well over 400 out of the Toyota V6 but is it needed? Considering it's only weigh like 1.1t, not 1.5t like other supercars, the answer is no. But if you really want that kind power, it should be there with some appropriate tweak.
It's already Stateside! Just 20 went through! Google and you'll find them for sale here and there. Problem is, It's not U.S. Street Legal (plus no headlights for that reason), and costs $20k more than UK pricing. If those weren't stumbling blocks I'd trade in my '05 Elise in a heatbeat for this track monster. :-)
the lotus 79 has an aluminium monocoque, very similar to this exige.
looking "carbon fibery" on the outside isn't the same as what counts on the inside.
sounds like a porsche. love it!
hello there, I know that Proton own Lotus, My father has a Proton too, it just felt random seeing the steering wheel with the same bolt position, that's why I asked.
No power steering????
I guess this is good fun, to drive
Is that me or that lotus has a proton steering wheel setting ?
0:28 and put it in this: Exige S, so we put the Corvette engine in the Exige and what happens? The Henessey Venom GT
Who would have thought a Camry V6 could sound so good?
I too want to pursue such a career , can someone suggest which engineering field should I get involved with ...
Saharsh Yashasvi if u want to do some to do with cars, have a look at automotive engineering
Having driven a Lexus ES 350 (Toyota 3.5 V-6) to 250,000 miles (405,000 km) without a single problem, and performing only MINOR service, such as belts, radiator flush, oil changes, plugs, air filters and so on, I can tell you that the engine with supercharger will not only be powerful enough, It will also run forever. Supercharger is good for power 100% of the time, but I suspect many will opt for a turbo system where pressure can be switched up or down depending on how you drive the car.
Gimme now! 👍🇬🇧
what a monster i
surprised they didn't put paddle shift's in it.
I'll have mine in white too ta.
there would be a place for this in my 10 car garage should i win the lottery
it's actually the 3.5v6 from a lexus (rx350)
nice
its has the same power to weight ratio
lotus was one of the pioneers in carbon fibre. in fact, I think they were the first to use it in the lotus 79. it's just a question of cost.
its in the movie red 2 towards the end of the movie
Yes
Definitely should have an LSD. I hope the cup version will have it.
Can't wait to thrash this car around on Forza
Toyota have built an engine that protentually could be amazing. wish they made another supra with this engine
No, the engine is not at all special. I have the exact same supercharged engine in my Evora and I would describe it as reliable and adequate. Lotus do run their own ECU and have developed a great sounding exhaust but the engine is factory Toyota spec. Compare to my old 3.8 flat six Porsche and S54 M3 engine, it's rather dull.
Sounds turbo @ 5:03
Lotus Lotus Lotus... Please bring this to the US as a street legal car.
I can't wait until Lotus develops their own Carbon Fibre Tech to replace their aluminum based frames.
Lotus are sports car gods. Would take this over a butt ugly Porsche 911 any day.
no power steering ack...
Turbo?
if only lotus did the smart thing and made this car 10 years ago like it should have, completely dumbfounded why they didnt do this to the lotus elise 111.. it would have meant massive sales for them
Why do I feel like this guy is a commentator.
I dunno about sound, but in terms of performance, a Camry weighs like 1,000 pounds more than the Lotus. That'll do it. :-)
I have this car in Forza Horizon 5
Proton owns Lotus if you didn't know.
What gives you an impression that it is not, in fact, the same engine? Wikipedia "Toyota GR engine".
Retuned for performance and the exhaust helps. But yeah Toyota know their engines. Too bad they mainly tune their engines for economy and slam them in a saloon car.
No this is not coming to north America. At least not in the foreseeable future. Real pity too.
I wonder why my Toyota Camry don't sound like this...?
It would be better with a lighter engine with the same or nearly the same power.
mmmmmmmmm...exige s
еееебать !!!!!! все понял !!!!
2020 XD
same engine....
Turbos whistle, not superchargers. Superchargers whine...
Owen I got banned Mildenhall.
Asphalt 8 brought me here.
The Exige (any) looks way better than the Evora. The Evora looks too babyish.
Exige S = Batman/Bruce Wayne car
Evora = Green Arrow car
Stonkingly Fast...LOL
1100kg... LOL
It's way too heavy. A supercharged four would have been much better.
the 2zz-ge is far from reliable when used aggressively.
The wheels are hideous...
Toyota made them anyone???
The car is great, but the wheels are too big and heavy which makes the steering very twitchy on the road even in a straight line.. go test drive and you will see.. I would still take a used Porsche over this at that price any day.
Needs more power! Nice for a weekend fun-on-the-track car, but other than that, it's far too much money for the little bit in return. Plus it's ugly. ;)
