Where I live in Europe they have implemented the law where companies have to present the lowest price of item in last 30 days next to the current price. This allows to see if prices weren’t artificially inflated ahead of the sale. This was created exactly because of sketchy brand behaviours during sales like black friday.
Oh dear Lord, try here in the USA. I’m in debt from student loans to become a RN and medical debt because I got sick and had not very good insurance. My country is out to break my back 😢
I ghost my shopping cart all time. I realized this organically by just window shopping like i had no boundaries, it really fills that craving to shop doing an the work including looking for deals.
I’ve abandoned so many carts 😅 sometimes i went to other sites to compare, to justify the prices and even went to see reviews on reddit etc. Ended up being overwhelmed with options and abandoning them 😂 but hey last night i bought a couple items from a brand that rarely does discounts. i had been wanting to buy them (have purchased from them before but their original prices are quite pricey) and finally got them for almost half off yaaassss!
I'm frugal and I love it! I have never had debts, only for my home. And because I have been frugal since I was young, I had already saved quite a bit and so I have a small loan. And having a loan results in tax relief. Now I'm already saving for my pension from the money I don't spend. It's all about the choices you make.
I am a teacher, and after having three lessons in a row with my students based on the topic of Black Friday obsession/marketing tricks which make us buy useless stuff, I have completely lost any desire to buy anything on this November sale 😂😂😂 Thus, being informed meams being forearmed 😅
Great tips, Christina! Because of you I have a wish list and only buy off that (usually on sale). I don’t regret any of my purchases when I stick to that plan
Thanks so much for this Christina! Black Friday has me feeling spendy when I really don't want to bring any new clothes into my life right now. It saved me when I went to the mall today and just ended up bringing home a book. So thankful for your content. I feel like everyone else is encouraging a spend, spend, spend mentally today and you're keeping things mindful and real.
One thing I do sometimes when I wanna shop is to go pull something out of my mending/alterations pile and fix that. Then I have something "new" to wear bc it's been sitting around unworn for awhile. If you don't know how to do that, get a basic sewing kit and watch a few TH-cam videos about it!
Hi Christina! I am on this more minimalish journey. It certainly is a marathon, not a sprint. Breaking habits that give you a boost is hard but my bank account (and my husband) appreciate it! Just preordered the journal! Looking forward to receiving it!❤️
Thanks so much for this. It's always very sobering to see the reality and truth of debt, and extremely motivating in regard to keeping a leash on the impulse buys!! I have loved deleting all the black friday "don't miss this!" emails for the last week. Also enjoying what I have, realizing how I can restyle these things. I also love the fact that my son grew out of his perfectly well-worn Levi's and so he brought them home for me! They're a little long, but I kinda love that, too.🥰
*fantastic advice, my husband and I have learned to do all of this and it really really really helps, I think this is our first Christmas season with that extremely intentional view on sales (especially the physical cost of adding something new, am I willing to get rid of what I have to make room for it)? Such good advice here, so timely! Thank you!
I can guarantee that the fake cart is a very good idea and it works! And if you get busy with another task, with your hobby, you really forget that you wanted those things! It’s so good to take track of the money that you saved by non checking out your fake carts! Good job Christina! Great video ❤
I shopped early and kept it simple this year. I bought a few things online today because I needed a better deal but this is the end of my shopping. I might get a few things for myself now that have been on my list but am also wanting to spend very little in December. For holiday shopping I like to buy online and pick up in store. Usually there's no line or a separate short line. You get the deals you want, it's fast and there's less impulse potential. And no shipping time usually.
I'll try the wishlist hack. So what it is is not buying the rest of the things in the wishlist before buying the #1 wishlist. You can reorganize the wishlist based on needs and current wants but never buy anything else unless you already bought your #1
Black Friday deals are coinciding with other life stressors this year, and I’m noticing how badly I want to buy absolutely everything for “therapy.” 😅 Your reminders are helping!
I bought a jacket that I have been coveting since September for 50% off and a shirt with a plaid that has three of my favorite colors and goes with half my closet for 40% off. I felt quite disciplined. And some bras, because I recently decided to go wireless, so I needed some comfy, supportive bras. But I bought the bras last week.
Omg you understand meee, Since the first part of the video, I was like: EXACTLY, people say I'm missing on everything and I'm too crazy by tracking everything I spend
Thanks christina! I actually felt anxious seeing all the deals im missing haha. Going to take the advice of keeping and paring down a wish list to make sure I actually want whats going on sale!❤ Definitely do enjoy a good deal but yes, need to focus 😂
a big thing i started doing, if it’s offered, is drive up pickup. i can avoid impulse shopping by getting what i need and not being in the store to look around
The best things I ever did for my finances was only shopping from a shopping list with max price for each item. This Black Friday I actually haven't bought a single thing for myself in the sales, because the sale prices were not where I wanted them to be (some items even were 100€+ more expensive than a month ago). I bought a few chistmas gifts for others because there the sale prices were a good deal for something I would have bought anyway.
My rules: save money above all; have a limited budget for shopping; have a conscious wish list of things I need / love; look for quality pieces only; buy finally if the item fascinates me.
I'd saved up for black friday this year. I'd buyed new carpets and bew curtains for my appartment. I'd saved 50% on both items, a good deal for me 👍 Normally i do'nt care for black friday. Greetings from Germany 🤗
I act like putting an item in my online shopping cart is a lifelong commitment lol. I think only once or twice I've ghosted a cart. I don't know why I'm like this!
This is so helpful. I am going to watch this video over and over again. I pay off all my purchases, but I need to STOP purchasing. I just may need to buy your journal.
On Black Friday I have checked prices of items I have already bought this year on sale and the price hasn't chaged on Black Friday. They lie saying before $100 now $50 or $60 when the whole year the same item goes on sale mostly on the weekends for the same lower price 😅
Hey Christina! 🛍 This video on Black Friday shopping video is spot on! As someone who struggles with impulse buying, your practical tips about mindful spending really resonated with me. It's refreshing to see a content creator who genuinely wants to help people make smarter financial choices instead of just promoting mindless consumption. I know creating content is super time-consuming, especially with all the editing that goes into making a polished TH-cam video. I'd love to help take some of that editing workload off your plate so you can focus more on filming and growing your channel. Your financial advice is valuable, and anything I can do to support you creating more content would be awesome! Keep crushing it with these real, relatable finance tips! 💪
First time I saw Black Friday advertised in Australia a few years ago, like many others, I thought WHAT? Why are they celebrating a ghastly, tragic, bushfire?! Turns out just one more thing to try to import from the US. They're even trying to import Thanksgiving! Mostly here in Australia Black Friday sales now go on for at least a fortnight. They don't even begin our end on a Friday. Aren't real sales. Prices inflated then reduced. Or are things that simply didn't sell, one year to the next! Most people I know avoid it totally. Some research an item they do need; fridge, microwave etc. and find a good deal. It's not the end of our financial year so it doesn't even have that relevance. Sadly I think for may it's one more step in their shopping addiction. Consumerism gone mad. Also interesting that some friends have only just registered it's even an attempted sales thing. I was asked several times this last week or so wtf it is.
Black Friday, Boxing Day sure its sale but you have to ask yourself sometimes. Do you even need it?? Did you save for it? Stop with the impulse purchases just because everyone is doing it.
Black Friday Never got me 😅 I used to be a seller. So it always overwhelmed to see consumerism frenzy around me. And now even more, as a consumer only 😅
With the exception of electronics the sales are nothing that would make my hair blow back. For example, an Amazon Basics sweater is on a Black Friday deal for $22. I could get a sweater just like it at Ross for $12 IF I want to. But I don’t like it nor do I need it.
Hi Christina, great video but I have to ask where your pretty blouse is from as well as your choker necklace and initial? Thank you. Enjoy your weekend

Also, on a different note: as an European from a country with free higher education… these student loans are INSANE to me.
Yes, not all loans are like that. Mine was bc it was for a professional program - but still nuts lol
@@TheGreeneyes181it’s full on insanity here in the US right now

Before Christmas 🎄 I cleaned out my pantry to create space and so I know what I already have and can use it up.

I agree we shouldn't go broke over a sale I also love sales at the same time
I do too and I take advantage of them - just want to make sure it doesn’t feel yucky or out of control ❤️

Hello Christina, I am interested in ordering your journal, but I have never heard what the price is. Would you please let me know. Thank you.
It’s kinda funny/ironic how many ‘shop black friday’ ads I got while watching this video!
Nooooo lol! I have no control over what mid roll ads get shown 😫 the ads can’t read the room lol
I’ve made about fifteen fake carts thus far just to see the savings 😂. It has been oddly satisfying and I didn’t even watch this video first.
Watching this after I just spent $50 bright and early this cyber monday morning…😅
Too late I have already shopped but I did buy a packable down jacket that has been on my wish list for 2 months & a cat flap !
Sounds like it wasn’t a regret tho! Woo!!
