Hey everyone. Euroasian Bob here. Thanks for all the great comments on the truck. It is truly a time capsule. Here is some of the history. It was a locally bought truck at a new car dealership that is still in business just up the road from me. The owner bought it just for camping on the weekends. It was always stored in his large out building when not in use. It actually was used up to a few years before his death. It didn’t sit that long unused. He was super meticulous on it. It has funny “old man” features like a piece of carpet underneath the original floor mat around the gas pedal to keep your heel from damaging the factory carpet. It had a seat cover on the bottom cushion which is why there is a color difference between the back and bottom. Of course the compass, steering wheel cover, and factory bug deflector are all period correct add on accessories. I bought it from the estate. It actually fired up and drove. It did need a lot of things replaced like belts, hoses, tires, and other consumables. I have had the truck in my personal collection for about 4 years and have never listed it for sale. I drive all of my vehicles but rarely drive this truck. Honestly, it’s so special being all an original survivor I’m a little scared of someone hitting it. I have quite a few vehicles in my collection at my shop but this one is in my home garage. I had an absolute blast driving it the 20 or so miles to the Wizard. I have decided to sell since I rarely drive it. I took it to the Wizard to get the last few minor bugs repaired. I keep my cars in condition to drive cross country if I wanted to. My plan is to list on Hemmings for $30k. I have thought about sending to one of the big auctions but not sure if they would appreciate an original vehicle like this as I mostly see resto mods. Any serious inquiries can contact me at bobcummin@aol.com. Thanks again for all the comments!
Bob Cummings I’m looking forward to learning more about the 93 Z-28 sitting next to your truck in the Wizard’s shop. Hoovie gave us a brief look until you told him to move on and look for his E500 parts...
I noticed that the truck has no drip rails over the doors. Weird. Maybe they weren't on all the real early square bodies. All of mine though, truck and blazers, have had drip rails. And it takes body work to remove them.
@@shugertits Maybe not an option on the custom deluxe. omg they had so many models back then, custom, custom deluxe, bonanza, scottsdale, cheyenne, cheyenne super,Silverado, and probably more im forgetting.
Tactical operator run n gun duracoat master of the deserts of Utah yessir I agree, it's a breath of fresh air wish I'd seen more those type vehicles preserved
I remember those Chevy trucks, they were everywhere when I was a kid. Back when trucks were used as, well, trucks. That instrument panel brings back memories; I had a job in back in 1989 where I drove a 1978-ish GMC van(company vehicle)with a very similar looking gauge package.
This is my dream truck, simple, unmolested, clean. So awesome to see them in this shape, not chopped up and modified. Just like it left the dealer, love it.
Haha, I remember the #1 accessory I bought for my first car ('68 Newport) was a dash mounted compass from Pepboys.🚗 (I should have bought a gun rack for my Daisy BB gun too)
Wild to find a truck that old with so few miles and in such great condition. Interesting how even such a well preserved truck from 40 years ago still has some items that just due to age start to fail, but nothing serious.
My Dad had the identical truck in Green and White, he put a camper top on it a week after purchase and we went on many memorable trips in it. This video brought back a lot of great memories.
Yes. I had a 74 c10 and still have here on the farm a 1973 C20 4x4. You had to be at least 5' 6" just to reach the dipstick! I've crawled into the engine bay many times to work on it. My dad bought it new. He had a 71 C10 and told mom he was taking it to have the front end realigned. Came home with a new truck. Was she pissed.
Great video, Wizzard. My brother-in-law had this very truck in green and white and I drove it a lot. Very nice. Thanks for your family oriented videos.
That truck takes me back to my childhood! My father had a new 1973 Chevy C-10 along with my mother’s 74 C-20 Suburban. We moved from Maine to Arizona in 1975 and drove both vehicles 3500 miles in 2 weeks! I’d love to have that Chevy time capsule!
The fella that owned it was going to take hiw wife to dinner, and she said "Start the truck, I'll be right out." 30 years later they found a skeleton sitting behind the wheel of this perfect truck.
rusty2029 It’s probably a bad story or they would have told you. I saw a mid 60’s Lincoln in 1971 with a chip out of the vent wing, far from home. A prominent businessman and a not his wife were parked in it in the winter with the engine running, apparently facing away from the wind.....
I have the first vehicle I bought. It’s a 1973 K20 Cheyenne Super, deluxe camper pkg. looking at yours, it has the Cheyenne super trim on the outside, upgraded mirrors but not the camper mirrors. The inside trim seems to be correct. I also had a compass located where yours is. Works great until you turn on the radio! Cost me over 100 miles as it sent me in the wrong direction! I also had the bug shield. Kept track of my mileage, which went up when I took it off. I also added the 28 gallon auxiliary fuel tank. It really needs an electric fuel pump at that tank. The only time I ever broke down( middle of desert) was the factory fuel pump. When I got towed to the Esso station, and was charged a whopping $27 for a new pump, the mechanic said with the auxiliary tank, the factory fuel pump was sucking an extra 6’. I have over 60,000 miles with a 9.5 slide in camper. Truck is set up with factory frame tie downs, shocks in bed to cab and camper stabilizers. 350 cu in, 4bbl, 4:10 Dana 70 rear, Dana 60 up front. At times I also pull a 19’ (Grownups) boat with the camper on. Other add-ons are headers, transgo shift kit, auxiliary transmission cooler, CB radio/SSB,( a necessity before cell phones, although I also have delco’s AM/FM/CB radio, but it’s so rare I prefer just the am/fm), 96” whip cb antenna (when the camper is off) 12.00x16,5 tires on white spoke rims. I took it to a “highly recommended “ body shop to take care of the rust around my wheel wells. While it was there, it was stripped! The got my chrome front and rear bumpers, vin plate from the door, build sheet under the seat and damaged outside trim they didn’t steal. All the tools behind my seat. I had a hood lock and still have the window sticker which was on the inside left fender. I feel lucky to have gotten my truck back, although it’s a bit lighter!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It shows you that the truck was parked into a garage at the end of the day everyday after it was used, even before it sat for a little. Looks like the original owner took good, genuine care of that truck like the basics of keeping a vehicle run in the first place. This is one good reason to do regular maintenance.
1973 the first year of this body style. My grandfather had this exact truck in Spanish gold. It was nowhere near this condition when we let it go. My grandfather used it for 30 years as a brickmason truck. It was still running and usable when we sold it. Great truck brings back a lot of memories.
What a treat to see such a mint old pickup from a time when pickups were real trucks, unlike the foo-foo fashion statement trucks today. These were built for hauling and towing without needless frills. This example would be an excellent candidate for an automotive museum.
Seeing you and Mrs Wizard become more and more comfortable on camera over the last year has really been amazing to watch. Keep up the stellar work yall!
Beautiful truck! My elderly neighbor restored one of those trucks about 10-15 years ago. I remember he had the hardest time finding those hub caps. There were many that were close, but not quite right.
What a beauty! Looks just the way they did when they hit the show rooms. (Yes, I am that old)." The 73s are pretty rare - no drip rails, so when you opened the door, all the water would spill in on the floor, so the floors rotted out.
This...this brought a tear to my eye. My uncle had a later model (81?) Custom Deluxe. Light blue in colour. Never as perfect as this one. I remember riding in bed. This was the era of REAL trucks.
Absolutely gorgeous, for thousands of them made there are barley any good examples left out there like this. Same with the old Toyota Pickups, land cruisers and 4 runners. Sucks when the nice old trucks are starting to go for price of new ones.
Man makes me miss my 1974 suburban c10 cheyenne super that was converted to 4x4 by the dealer. I bought it from the original owner back in 2015 with 80k original miles. Minus the sagging headliner the interior was absolutely mint it had white vinyl benches with black trim and carpet. The truck was original paint pale olive green and white virtually no rust. My favorite part was they had kept all the original documents, sales booklets and advertising from 1973, it even had the original first aid kit and their original license plate. I had to sell it in 2017 for financial reasons and I've missed it since.
Wow! Very nice orginal survivor. Almost museum quality. Heck it may be. I was 20 years young in 1973 and I was stationed in Japan aboard USS Midway (CVA 41)..oh so long ago!
You brought back a lot of childhood memories, riding in my Great Uncle’s ‘72 C20 Custom Deluxe. We would ride around all over the place in that truck when I was 8 or 9. The saddle bag auxiliary tanks were a big safety fail though. I think that the ‘72 still had the main tank behind the seat. You could hear the gas sloshing around when you went around a bend.
We've had a '74 since new and the only thing on that truck that looks like it might not be right are the gas caps. I get it that the aftermarket side is _aftermarket_ but the other side doesn't look right either. Everything else seems legit. I see it's a tilt column truck too, which is a really rare option.
Cool. Back in the day from when trucks (especially in rural areas) were not ordered with factory rear bumpers. Working trucks got either a basic dealer installed bumper or a heavy duty hitch bumper for hauling machinery.
I remember drivin in my Mums truck and when the one gas tank would run out (while driving) my mum would tell me to flip the switch, she’d pump the gas and turn the key to get it going again... love those old chev’s!
As a very young man I knew and worked for a 87 year old widowed lady farmer. She had a old Chevy short box Straight Six with a 3 on the tree. She filled it up once a month when she went to town to cash her widows benefit check . It got about 100 miles a month . So ya this is totally possible and probable. I dig the hub caps.
1973 was the first year for that design. They're nice driving trucks. That unit with low mileage and zero rust in that trim level is a good find. It has probably been garaged all these years because there are no cracks in the dash.
I have some rust with the same truck on it. Seriously though I have the exact same truck, but it has some body rust issues, some call it patina...but I still love it, all original. That’s a really nice find right there.
Had a 76 C-25 that was a lot like this. 350/350, 2wd. Mine was a bit rougher and probably had 326,000 on it. Dragged around a huge cab-over camper most of it's life. Had factory dual tanks, but they were both the same rounded type. Mine never broke down in the 20 years I had it.
My father had the same truck with the 454 in it and it was a nightmare to change the water pump because it had the shortest nut ever to hold the the top of the pump. I threw some tools across yard on that job. Gas mileage 8 miles per gallon and a total beast.
Amazing truck! And you are right, nothing special about those SBC 350's except that they were fantastic engines. They didn't make the power of the modern LS's, but they ran forever, and were easy to work on. Great truck engine, because it had loads of torque. There are still millions of them running.
The most crazy thing is the condition of the bed. Who drives a pickup truck even 30k miles and never puts anything in the bed, ever? That thing belongs in a car museum it is so well preserved. How many other ALL ORIGINAL, UNRESTORED trucks of that year in that kind of shape are still around? Probably very few. People preserve expensive fancy cars, but this is just an every day, regular vehicle that a normal person would buy. In that condition, it is probably more rare than a Ferrari of similar vintage.
This channel is nothing like I thought it was going to be. The wizard doesn't fix anything on this channel. He just shows cars... and trucks. That is basically it.

I absolutely love these trucks. I had a slightly oder one; a 1980. Primitive, but wonderful!
I'd be terrified someone would hit it, and their insurance company would say "47 year old Chevrolet truck - $1,500 is all we can give you."
Oddman1980 , that’s why I have all my classic personal vehicles insured with Hagerty at an agreed value.

Sell it on bring a trailer
I see hoovie bought the Camaro.
I was thinking the same thing. Another car in great showroom condition
Same thought came to my mind also.
I knew Hoovie could not resist the Camaro. Looks like he left that day with a bit more than the power antenna.
Bob has the wizard fix his stuff too.
Brian Bialek I was just gonna say that. He probably has the Wizard fix his stuff.
“Let’s talk about something more serious, let’s talk about this truck!” Yes!!! 😂
I had a feeling I'd see you in the comments of this video, haha.
Well, in any apocalyptic scenario that truck would be a best possible vehicle to have...
I noticed that the truck has no drip rails over the doors. Weird.

I see straight away a serious problem with this truck - somebody else owns it.
John Davis agreed
John Davis really I thought you were talking about that ugly gold bow tie! Haha gross
Because it's old as hell man!
Stimpy&Ren things still been sitting a long ass 40 years even though it hasn’t driven it
Stimpy&Ren and really who cares about the engine paint the thing paint job looks great for how old it is
That truck is a time capsule. Very nice! I am not even a truck guy, but I can appreciate something so old yet so close to factory condition.
More impressed by cars like these than all those high-end investor cars. Nobody thought about conserving these.

I always loved the Chevy square body pickups and this one looks so sharp! Always loved the two tone paint GM and Ford had back then too.
Just a classic Chevy truck!
The truck probably cost $30,000 today but it is far better than the newer Chevy trucks. What a stunning beautiful showpiece.

The Compass put a big smile on my face, all it needed was a gun rack in the back window.

(I should have bought a gun rack for my Daisy BB gun too)
@@g.hanson9636 the gun racks were great during hunting season but gave a place to hang ball caps and baseball bats the rest of the year.

It's always intriguing to think how something in that good of shape gets parked and not used for decades. There has to be a story behind that

1973 was the first year for that design. They're nice driving trucks. That unit with low mileage and zero rust in that trim level is a good find. It has probably been garaged all these years because there are no cracks in the dash.
Thank you for sharing this time capsule David :)
Love that truck , this is my favorite body style
Video definitely worth watching... Thanks Wizard!
Man thats a super clean square body, my uncle has a 83 F250 with the 460 4x4 with 24k orginal miles owned since new. Still smells new inside
That is one good looking truck in amazing condition especially for us here in the Midwest!
I have some rust with the same truck on it. Seriously though I have the exact same truck, but it has some body rust issues, some call it patina...but I still love it, all original. That’s a really nice find right there.
That is gorgeous!!! A true time capsule
Wow that's unheard of, beautiful truck...just wow.
She is beautiful !! 2 tone paint!!70's I love square body truck's
1 thing I noticed
It doesn't have drip rails!?...
Beautiful truck. I had a 73 GMC pickup years ago that I still miss to this day.
Shortly after the truck was a delivered, we had gas lines around the country. Dealer installed aux gas tanks became popular, for good reason.
that is a beautiful truck. my dad bought one in 74. it looked just like this one except it was a light green and white two tone.
Bald Eagle you have to watch some of his older videos. He still does fix vehicles.
@@clintonstubbs2319 I've been watching since the beginning.... he fixes nothing.
