    Franz Adolf Berwald (23 July 1796 - 3 April 1868) was a Swedish Romantic composer. He made his living as an orthopedic surgeon and later as the manager of a saw mill and glass factory, and became more appreciated as a composer after his death than he had been in his lifetime.

    Wonderful, and more robust than Mendelssohn. It sounds like a link between Beethoven and Nielsen.

      I suppose this was deliberate... But I do not know why. Anyway, it is a big surprise in itself.

      I think that's more true of the first movement than the last. I love the unexpected last-minute rescue from the minor mode.
