My wife of 27 years came to the USA in the early 90's so our oldest son is the age of the 26 year old woman you first interviewed. Like that couple, my wife is Venezuelan and I'm a Midwestern white boy. She came on her own. A desire she had from her youth, and with little to no money. We fell in love while walking around the lakes in St Paul Minnesota. Naturally, we were at a lake when I asked her to marry me while standing on a dock. When she said "yes" I asked her "should we jump in?" She nodded yes so we jumped, fully clothed, hand in hand, into the water. To this day I can still recall her beautiful face coming up out of the water, like a wonderous Naiad! Anyways, we loved visiting Venezuela in the late 90's any early 2000's but unfortunately, not anymore. The majority of her nieces and nephews (aged mid twenties) have left Venezuela for other South American countries like Argentina or Peru to start new lives outside the country. How sad 😥. It seems to me that Oil Wealth ruins economies wherever that evil black gold is found! Take North Dakota recently as an example here. But enough of that! Such great meeting with the young couple. You can see their happiness in life and love. The Charity work was a plus of information, so cool to have access to things some people don't know exists right around the corner. Freedom is your voice I liked that, don't let others speak, or do the thinking for you so you wont end up in a tent.
You do a really god job with these videos. Freedom without responsibility is not sustainable, and without checks and balances, we will not keep our liberty. Very subtle and effective. Pure “isms” are bad, regardless of whether you’re talking about capitalism or socialism. The key is finding and maintaining the middle ground, which takes acceptance (not tolerance-that’s overrated as it is simply a veneer) and collaboration (not merely cooperation). We’re so polarized right now, it’s a zero-sum game at least for now.
"Defend your ideas, protect your ideas by doing the right thing." -Daniel, 2021 "For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another." -The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, 2000 years ago
I heard about the gangs that go around stealing cars in Venezuela. My neighbor here in Florida was Venezuelan and we were driving next to him on the road one day. We waved hi to him he didn’t recognize us and as we drove home and he hauled ass and put his car in the garage as soon as he could. I guess he still had that fear

@pierre pouget the point is that originally that one person in charge probably had good intentions until they became corrupted. The problem is that once the person in charge becomes corrupted typically fair elections never materialize. Bottom line, it is the corruption of one human heart, being in power at the right time to create a tragedy.
To think we were almost there on January 6th. That day must have put chills down the spine of many especially immigrants who escaped tyranny from their home country. It certainly did to my 85 year old Italian grandfather who had grown up under Mussolini’s regime.
I'm afraid I must disagree that "one person can ruin a country". Maybe that's true for a very small country where a dictator is imposed by an outside power, e.g. Cold War Czechoslovakia. But for a country like Venezuela, people voted for Chavez, they re-elected him, cheered his policies, supported his successor, etc. for years & years. Not everyone, obviously, but there's no doubt that an awful lot of people who are lamenting the economic situation today were once very happy to have received some oil money from the gov't. Blaming politicians is cheap & easy. But the reality is that the fault lies w/ everyone who got on this train. Now that it's derailed, they want to pretend they had nothing to do w/ it. You don't have to take all the blame, but you have to accept some of the blame & promise to learn your lesson. Otherwise, you'll just be trapped in an endless cycle of more Chavezes & Maduros, as we've seen in much of Latin America.
Great video as always!! Would have been interesting to hear him speak about the Venezuelan rigged elections. That could "never" happen here. I mean....
My father was a diplomat in Venezuela. I live with him there for 18 months. It was perfect....everything was so decadent! Sad what had happened to that beautiful nation.
I wish I can talk to you and give you another prospective of what happened in my home country . I lived in a Venezuela before Chavez and after him. It is not what she said that one man came and changed everything. Venezuela has a record os socialism policies since 1959. Chavez was a consequence of fail socialist policies. What can I do , so we can talk? LOVE YOUR CHANNEL by the way!!
Iranians say the same, "we were great at Shah's time and now everything is terrible". But when you look at the facts, you realized that things are more complicated than that and in many cases, things are actually quite the opposite, much much better in fact. Plus, many of the issues in Iran comes from complex foreign pressure as the successors of Shah after 1979 were no the US puppets. I not familiar enough with Venezuelan's history but I bet that's the case. Having said that, love Venezuelans and love this content. Peace

The lucky ones are the ones who made it to the USA. Colombia's cities all have Venezuelan homeless tent compounds where people make money begging for coins at the traffic lights. It's become a serious humanitarian crisis.
Los ricos llegan a usa ..y los pobres a Colombi
I can confirm. I live close to the main "highway" you'd take from Venezuela to Bogotá, which venezuelans walk from. It's unironically really bad.
Good stuff. Shout out to anyone out there helping others!
4:03 Im puertorican and I think of arepas as Venezuelan 😂 Riquisimas 🙌
Wuepa! De pura cepa! 🇵🇷
We do make a mean arepa, but Venezuelans aren't the only ones who make arepas. Colombians do too.
@@ntmn8444 I belive you, puertoricans have their own kind too. It happens with many dishes, everyone has their version.
Arepas are from Puerto Rico!

i think it is great that this community cares so much , good people
Great video, as usual!! So many cool insights into the Venezuelan community in the US! Loved it!
Peter, I must say I love your channel and content soooo much!
Americans need to watch this...
We are.
Americans need to visit Europe .
Im a long time subscriber of yours!
Such great meeting with the young couple. You can see their happiness in life and love. The Charity work was a plus of information, so cool to have access to things some people don't know exists right around the corner. Freedom is your voice I liked that, don't let others speak, or do the thinking for you so you wont end up in a tent.
I love how the virus disappears when the food comes.
The best part of every video is hearing all the different perspectives.
Great sharing.
Peter, thank you to do a video of my fellow Venezuelan people.
"Defend your ideas, protect your ideas by doing the right thing."
-Daniel, 2021
"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another."
-The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, 2000 years ago
As always excellent video!
Thank you for the great video!
Thank you Peter another eye opening video.
Waaoo Beautiful country with Beautiful people
Lot of Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Thank you.

Hello to you from Slovenia🇸🇮
Weston has so many Venezuelans that they started calling it westonzuela many years ago. Weston and Doral are the main Venezuelan areas of south Florida.
my church was founded in Colombia and has its American base in Weston. Definitely has a huge Colombian population as well.
I watch your videos every day!
Im from Brazil, and this moment Brazil isnt good too.
Goods videos!
Send Hello to Brazil!
My favorite funny part of this was when Michelle was justifying the size of the restaurant empanadas, girl takes her food so serious I love it! She's like, hold up for the record our empanadas are normally huge! Hahahaha!
Doral is awesome! The Venezuelan culture and food there is vibrant!
The Storage guy’s Shirt 😂💯🔥
I had to order that shirt :-)
There is something so relaxing about your channel- I get to travel and learn in my own home 😃
I will say this channel has also inspired me to learn more about the people and places I travel to as well.

Now look at this country one year later… we’ve lost so much of who we were. I’m wondering what this gentlemen would say today. I bet he’s more saddened by what he sees going on this country, than most other Americans.
I love his advice about freedom!
I came to USA in 2004 from Venezuela .. the best decision I made in my life I was 21 yo with $1000 on my pocket ..and now I’m a citizen, I have my family, a job ...and I love this country!!!🇺🇸
Nice job Peter, you need a second part, like she said, the Venezuelan from 30 years ago, 15 and right now.
"You're too pretty". Jim's right, Michele is pretty. Lucky you Jim
Thanks Farouq, she’s lucky too 😉
@@thejimwall She sure is.

Freedom is everything. It’s sad what happened to Venezuela but I am happy they can at least come to a country where freedom is still holding on.
Question atfer ✡ are done making America Babylon where are these Americans going to go for freedom🤔???
It’s funny that he thought that as an “ethnic community” it would look like a sh!ty place, in fact, Venezuelan wealthy community’s style is pretty similar to the US (we got a lot of American influence since oil era). Greetings from a Venezuelan in Orlando FL. Thanks to the US for opening their doors up to US, love u guys 🇻🇪 ❤️ 🇺🇸
i though the same !
“Don’t be afraid to be free”
WORD!!!
"It takes one person to destroy a country," poetic and historically true
@pierre pouget the point is that originally that one person in charge probably had good intentions until they became corrupted. The problem is that once the person in charge becomes corrupted typically fair elections never materialize. Bottom line, it is the corruption of one human heart, being in power at the right time to create a tragedy.
in iran, it took khomeini to destroy a nation and reverse it back to the stone age!
To think we were almost there on January 6th. That day must have put chills down the spine of many especially immigrants who escaped tyranny from their home country. It certainly did to my 85 year old Italian grandfather who had grown up under Mussolini’s regime.
@@aminr4281 better than what happened with Syria/Iraq because of US democracy and oil theft.
bernie sanders lol
Pete, the biggest Venezuelean diaspora is in Colombia. Almost 2 millions of them.
You are right and I'm sure the education system was a real source of their problems.
I’m 57 and for sure the US has changed dramatically, not for the good.
Great video as always!! Would have been interesting to hear him speak about the Venezuelan rigged elections. That could "never" happen here. I mean....
Do Peruvian community! It's huge! I immigrated to Hollywood FL in '91 moved to WA state close to Seattle in '05.
My father was a diplomat in Venezuela. I live with him there for 18 months. It was perfect....everything was so decadent!
Sad what had happened to that beautiful nation.
It's happening here In US
What year / president are you referring to? (keenly interested to understand when the change happened from good to bad)
Peace
I am Venezuelan, and I agree with you 100%: you are not familiar enough with Venezuelan history.
Exactly, you are not familiar with Venezuelan's history so please, go and inform yourself, but try not to do it in media propagandists of communism.
Dude at :29 is my hero with that shirt. Style.
