Glad to see you doing a video on this one. I got mine in 2019 and have used it for saddle stitched, Coptic stitched, and Japanese stab stitched books. I find it incredibly helpful. One tip I have found useful is to pick which holes you want to use, and mark them with a sharpie on the guide. The marker can be cleaned off with hand sanitizer after use. (A tiny amount on a q-tip will work.) The thread that comes with it is kind of crappy, but you can purchase waxed linen thread or get some beeswax from a sewing store and wax your own.
I enjoyed watching your video. You are very clear and precise, love your voice. Going to get one of these guides, looks like it makes easy work of things. Thanks again, take care
I bought this on a whim; and learned some Japanese binding patterns. Fun! But I did get some blisters LOL This is a great introductory video; I'm so glad I subscribed to your channel.
PS: I found that, if you want to use colored string to do the binding, it helps to pull the length of string along a bit of beeswax prior to starting. You end up with wax-coated colored string; much easier to work with!
Great vlog John. I have done the simple binding without any tool, but nowadays my hands wouldn’t be able to keep it all in one place , so this seems a solution to my problem. 😃 TFS 🥰
