Those poor lizards. Absolutely heartbreaking
It sucks that they were taken from the wild but that’s how their shipped(except I didn’t see a heat pad in the box). Reptiles can go very long without food and water
@@lifealert2716
My understanding is that the species itself is nowhere near endangered, but the ability to export them is extremely limited - perhaps just as scientific exchanges. In any case there is already a steady number outside of Australia where the trade is not illegal. I do understand that due to their monogamous breeding, that it's extremely hard to breed them in captivity.
I’m surprised it’s not a case of “Well, IF you had declared this we would have allowed this this and this but because you said no you lose it all AND get this LARGE fine.”
Agreed! Minimum $500 too, my car rego is more expensive than brining in a biosecurity threat!
The fines are to low for those offenders
These episodes are old. The fines have increased.
Well at least the lady who kept her diarrhea covered shoes in a bag, got to take that with her 🤦🏼♀️🤢
Weirdest food found at airport: peaches
What happened to the poop shoes?
I know declaring items is a hassle but it does help from spreading diseases that certain countries dont have. I remember i had to throw away flowers from Ensenada that i took a cruise too and i thought it was outrageous cause literally its right by the us board but they were not playing so it was what it was and i was able to keep my wines and olive oils so i was happy with that. I do feel aussie is making the fine too low. All the items they needed to throw away for those two ladies was crazy even if they dont think its food and is for medical reasons they should have been fine a lot more. I mean i just dont understand why they would know the rules spend all that money just to get caught and it destroyed. So not only are u paying for the food u are paying for a fine and the worse thing ever is the food waste which could have been prevented.
Why the Chinese people always come with suitcases full of plants, greens, roots, raw fruits, fish or any moving objects being cooked, bottled etc. Food stuffs are available globally and don't they know it?
Chinese citizens seem to be under the impression that there's no food in Australia.
Right!! I don't understand why so much food?
There selfish and chronic liars.
😂
@@leonard5606No, it’s because the food is much more expensive there, and they are too cheap to buy it!! Which is ironic, because they have the money for the plane tickets to travel back and forth, but they do t want to shell out the money for food! 🤣😂
I swear these Vietnamese, Samoan, and Asian people eat the nastiness things??! How do they eat something that smells??! 🤣😂
That’s pretty low of the mom blaming her kids for the fruit. Don’t blame them. It’s your responsibility.
Yeah you shouldn't be telling a young child to get something out of your bag and expect them to do it. She could've easily opened the bag to check if the kid had listened.
The fines should be more expensive for people who knowingly break the laws on food
the fines are way too low considering how serious the potential outcome may be, it's a joke, fine them more than a few hundred or just outright ban them
@@kidd522666 exactly 👍
This show is 15yrs old. The fines are now minimum of $626 and up to $3700 depending on number of non-declared biosecurity food products.
fines dont deter people no matter how high they are
The "up to" fines seem to never be imposed.
WHAT? An Asian woman with prohibited food concealed and not declared. That’s a rare event. I think I only see this on very rare occasions. Maybe only 99% of the time. I bet the customs lady was super surprised as this hardly ever happens. 😂
@@smcdonald9991 *I know. I'm clutching my pearls at seeing such an extremely rare and shocking event!*
@@leonard5606….That woman had NO clothes to wear, just all kinds of crazy looking food!!
@@smcdonald9991 well not that shocked.
rOTFLMFAO!!
😂
Maybe Australia should start getting more strict with repeat offenders since Australia's eco-system is so unique and any biosecurity threats could cost Australia millions in. Perhaps "a three strikes and you're out" law (like the Americans do with certain criminal charges) would decrease the amount of serial offenders.
you know we have a three strikes rule for crime too? its just the penalties are different
The pitiful fine of $300 odd dollars has been increased to over $1100. Mb that'll make them think twice.
Poor beautiful little creatures
They have no idea how lucky they are
Am not even Australian but am annoyed with the ignorance of the people not declaring food and pretending not to understand English when caught...
The declaration forms are given to people in their own language as well so they can’t use the excuse of not speaking much english as well
She managed to react immediately when the woman mentioned the seeds, then suddenly didn't understand.
These people who lie on their card and say no food should have ALL their food taken away not just the prohibited and the fine needs to be much much higher so they will really reconsider lying the next time.
And immediate deportation
@@darkgalaxy5548not eligible for return for blatant import violations such as OP’s comment mentions above as well.
This “I don’t know” Asian woman makes me sick! I’m glad she got fined!
What's up with all the food? They have food in Australia 😂😂
Thinking about it, my guess is the Chinese woman with the glasses and all the packaged food was bringing it in for her son and his family. A mother would do that.
Obviously not the food they want, I’m not sure why that’s so hard for people to understand. People create whole shops/supermarkets/towns to meet the needs of specific cultures in a foreign land. That’s not a new concept and I’m sure to import it costs a lot of money, so they will try to bring some along when they travel back home.
There are certain foods you can’t find in Australia.
Never mind fines ... at least two years in jail per lizard!! Grrrrr!!
Yes. I absolutely agree
The first reptile is absolutely beautiful.
Charge them for their ignorance, in spite of the fact that they have traveled to Australia many times. The customs officers in Australia are just too linient. Travelers should know the laws before traveling to a foreign land, & ignorance is not an excuse. Follow the rules.
I agree, the Australian controls are soft and not strict enough about people ignoring the paperwork. Been like it for years it appears.
$360.00 for egregious and blatant disregard of Australia import laws is insufficient. $360.00 should be the minimum and $150,000.00 the normal.
absolutely...
Throwing your kids under the bus is reprehensible! It amazes me when travelers say they didn't pack the items. They will blame a child or other family member and not take responsibility.
Yes they all will
So this woman has traveled “heaps” to Australia, but her things have never been searched, or she doesn’t know that she can’t bring in these items??! 🤣😂
That woman who blames the kids for the fruit really ticks me off. Mother of the year she is not
Those lizards will never understand how lucky they are
Anyone who fails to declare food or just makes a false declaration should be fined and refused entry. Send that message out loud and clear. Failing that triple the ABF and AQUIS staff and make every Asian pass through inspection before entry is granted. They are the single biggest threat to Australia’s bio security
They should start issuing fines for undeclared/prohibited food items by the weight once they exceed a certain number. Anything below that should be fined a substantial minimum amount. Huge difference between someone who brought in a few items and a mini market in their bags.
These Chinese residents in Australia can speak native English Im quite sure Drama only in Airport
I went on an 18 day trip through England, France, Italy, and Switzerland. I didn’t bring anything to eat. I ate the local delicious foods, and I certainly didn’t starve to death 🤷🏽♀️💕
The diarrhea shoes and the food are essentially the same.
She didn't say diarrhoea but "Australia" in mandarin. As to the reason she pointed to the shoes whilst saying it, I have absolutely no clue. 😂
I don't understand every time I watch one of these videos people are traveling to Australia with lots of food im sure they have food in Australia. These people need larger fines.
I'd be very curious to learn how much money these airports generate each year.
I'm sure it's mind boggling.
They should have charged the couple blaming the children alot more.
"Sorrym I don't know," often appears to be the most common response of Chinese or East Asian citizens when caught with illegal foods. Tsk, tsk, tsk!
The lady with the "diarrhea" shoes was actually saying "Australia" / au-ta-li-ya in mandarin. No idea why it got misheard as diarrhea. 😅
I'm under the impression that people just fly in with cloths on there body and suitcases full of food only.
Poor animals too be treated like that. 😢
clearly people who are saying “there’s food in australia” are ignorant asf🙂 every culture has their own food as well
The fines and punishments should be higher!
These videos are old and the maximum fine is about 5,000 now
These shoes should be sent to space, no incinerator can survive that.
😂
$1000 fine per item
Beyond evil and cruel to put a live animal or reptile packed in a box! 😡
There are actually special ways to send animals to places, certain ways to pack them, and which delivery services to use. Smugglers don’t care and don’t know enough to do it right, which puts the animals at risk.
...as for the food concealments .. penalties need to be severe enough to convince perpetrators that it's not a joke, and that the damage they could cause to Australia is incredibly far reaching. The "No speak English" is also a bit sus, so translators should be available to sort that one out. How could they NOT know about restrictions??? Fines by themselves do not seem to be a sufficient deterrent .... maybe jail terms and cancellation of visas need to be included.
Those vegetables in those dumplings were NOT uncooked.
ikr they were steamed
I kind of felt bad for that woman - She did a lot of work to make those dumplings. I bet she was proud of them.
What would happen if non-Chinese people tried to smuggle sh*t into THEIR country -- prison or death?
$360 fine is petty cash. They know., just pretence all the way. Make the fine at least $1000!
So the passenger has to pay right then…. But by claiming no money, magically her son can pay but doesn’t have to pay right away, instead allowing 21 days?
Want to bet he never pays it?
At the end of the video it said the Son paid the fine. Always watch till the end!
As a Hispanic that crosses the border regularly between Mexico and Texas I can relate to everyone bringing in food from her mother country. You want to bring something originally from home, but always be aware of what is allowed to cross and what is not.
Sorry - I live in San Antonio TX. There are plenty of Mexican groceries and products are even available in mainstream grocery stores.
I don't use air travel and haven't left my beautiful country in decades, but prior to leaving the departure country, China as an example, wouldn't those same suitcases be previously scanned for inappropriate items?
The rules are different for various countries of what's allowed
Imagine finding in the bags an illegal export of inland taipans.
Fun fact: Taronga Zoo keeps supplies of Cobra and Viper antivenins as they keep some of those animals on display and just in case customs find one in a bag :)
The fines are too weak as a deterrent. Those passengers should not be allowed to enter and be returned to their country of origin.
Poor little guys ... Glad they found them
Maybe she didn’t get caught on earlier trips to Australia.
The thing that most comes to mind is the introduction of the Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer (however that happened). The result has been a tragic decimation of tree cover. Who knows what else could crawl in hidden in these illicit cases full of food?
18 years ago I brought back a number of wooden items I’d been gifted in Argentina, and declared them all. All the Argentinian ones were fine, and I was able to keep them, but the one item I’d been gifted from the USA had a borer in it. I was offered the options of either paying to have it treated (and then I could keep it), or else have it confiscated. I opted to let them keep it. They said they were going to keep it to use it training what to look for. It’s devastating to think one small thing like that undeclared could be behind the trees in Hyde Park in WA having to be cut down.
never seen or heard of shingleback lizards. beautiful
They are such beautiful creatures!
Bringing a buffet into someone's country 😮
I never understand why people visit other countries but bring their own food. Is it just to try and save money because if I was to visit other countries I would want to try their foods. Expand my taste pallet, try new things.
It seems to me that the fines for falsifying legal documents and trying to smuggle foods are much too low. Wink, wink.
The lady with the "diarrhea" shoes was actually saying "Australia" / au-ta-li-ya in mandarin. No idea why it got misheard as diarrhea. 😅
I just feel like for the Asian lady they should’ve at least had a translator no? I understand she’s in the wrong but at least have respect for
i am sorry, but what are the ethical ramifications of using other travellers to interpret for customs officers? that is very, very wrong on many fronts!
The shinglebacks may not of been moving as they were cold. Normally when someone ships a reptile, they are shipped with a heat pack and normally no water or food as to not upset their stomach
more chance getting caught
the couple is so rich , being ccp director relative, should pay 5 million dollars so she will not bring fruit next time
I cant believe they took her limited edition diarrhea converse sneakers away
Andrea is gorgeous.
Live animal for insect!!!!!
Why is the airline representative with the Chinese passenger in the last clip? Shes clearly not there to translate or to assist customs in their job.
Alot of native food from other countries not available in Australia.
Monogamous lizards. Watch a catch 🥰😊
Kudos to Border Security staff on their knowledge. I wouldn't know half the stuff all these tourists brought in and I'm a foodie who's very familiar with Chinese food! When I saw @23:25 I thought it was brown sugar but the label on the packaging says 'beef cubes' (a type of jerky).
2 big suitcases of food ingredients! Oh my lord~
When my mom came to visit for the first time, I told her over and over not to take any food or food ingredients. Either we can buy them here or we don't need it that badly. When she finally arrived she told me she got in trouble at quarantine. I didn't hold back on the "I told you so."
Love watching this you know that’s crazy why lie there’s a 50-50 chance there going to be stopped because if they tell you, they don’t have to pay for the food you’re gonna blame your little kids that’s bad it amazes me when they try to play dumb
WHY 👏 ARE 👏THERE👏NO👏INTERPRETERS👏
seriously. obviously they should be declaring things and not doing what they're doing, but the fact that y'all are enlisting other passengers to do your job is ridiculous
RIGHT I CAN NEVER FIGURE OUT WHY THEY DONT HAVE THEM!!
No More Warnings 😒
She needs to see her gastroenterologist oily stool like that could be very serious
The sea water was a but of a stretch - what does Australia do with its coastline ... keep out all foreign water ?
Wow Australia! Why wouldn’t you have any food in your country to feed all these hungry, starving people? And why would anyone want to visit such a country? People have to pack a whole grocery store in their bags! 😂😂😂
The second story that woman says her shoes are Australian I’m laughing that the officer thought she said diarrhea
This video needs chapters....
Do they know we sell food in Australia. 😊
I would love to try Australian food specialties, except for vegemite.

What is with all excess baggage of food?? What’s wrong with these people? Nowadays, you may buy items online or purchase at an ethnic market! They all lie. Incredibly low to blame the children…. Raise fines!
I’m just shocked by all that food. Ridiculous and gross.
The kids packed a bunch of fruits neatly and put in the luggage? Even if that insane explanation were true...the parents are still more than responsible. You're responsible for your kids lol.
Warning! dont watch this while eating
Love these border workers… god bless them
NO EXCUSE!! Their irresponsible behavior of packing items that are clearly illegal has no excuse! These people are adults and should be able to read the laws and rules of each country they travel to! The purposefully denied it because they only care about their selfish interests and not about the safety of the country they are visiting! These people are disgusting and so is their attitude! 👎
When will the ignorant people know by now that if they click yes the food etc is not automatedly taken from them, they always get caught that way.
Poor animals, how do people expect them to survive the journey with no water or food and barely any oxygen?? It was so sad to hear they mate for life, that means if they are separated while being sent away, they could be alone for the rest of their lives.
Jo, my ex boyfrend sukarevicius always make broke bones to near invalidumas
Its crazy how low the fines are, and how little respect others have of a different country and their laws.
why does Australia have translators?? i’ve seen a few of the australian border shows an they seem to never have translators
This guy is totally crazy
not them debating if it’s a lizard while the little guys are getting blasted with radiation for a minute
people that put living animals inside a bag should try it them self...
The mother is takeing no responsibilty.
the peach lady was tryna defend herself by saying that shes preggo 💀💀
Why would anyone travel to another content with cooked food??
Please tell me how you would ship a lizard WITH FOOD & WATER? I’m just curious
They had to nab the monogamous reptile
i don’t even like lizards but those ones i feel so bad
I have all my skinks and they are captive bred
WHY do people bring home-made food that they could be making at their destination??? The fines are ridiculously low. If the fines were higher and travel bans imposed word of mouth would spread.
