It always trips me out that Homer and Marge were my parents age and now they're my age. Swear the Mona and Homer episodes always know how to get you right in the feels.
When you think about how much Mr Burns screwed Homer's life up it's AMAZING the amount of kindness and compassion Homer gives Mr Burns in certain episodes. Homer is definitely more selfless than he gets credit for sometimes.
Homer is more thoughtless than selfish, I feel. He thinks of his own wants first but it's not because he doesn't care about others, he just doesn't think.
I like that as inconsistent as the Simpsons is, they manage to keep up with the idea of Homer being really into music. It kinda makes his relationship with Maggie even sweeter because she obviously inherited it from him and managed to achieve that level of Stardom that he was never able to.
Disappointed that Bongo being renamed ‘Hendrix’ didn’t somehow turn into it being the old, stinky farm dog owned by the hippies in the episode where Homer discovers his middle named, which was also coincidentally named ‘Hendrix’ 😅 I thought there was some weird connection there.
If anything when Homer's mom shows up to meet newborn Bart, Homer could just say or think it was a dream that his Mom risked getting caught by the FBI to meet her first and only grandson
I’m gonna think the reason for Homer’s dumbness is a mix of 🖍️, ☢️, and 🧬. BONUS: I feel you at 2:20, Lydia. I found my old as heck 3DS Sound recordings, and… let’s just say that no amount of therapy will ever make that moment okay. EXTRA BONUS: 29:25 If you/I said it once, it’s been said many times. The things you do for us!
Alright, let's go! I've been telling my nan about you and the Flying Hellfish Patreon all day. From the way I've described you I think Nan thinks you're like an MI5 agent. 😁
Also I think it's the crayon and the radiation that turned Homer into, well, Homer. I don't like thinking about the Simpson gene. Not because I dislike the episode, because I don't, but I feel sorry for Bart knowing that he'll eventually become thick as pig smeg. Poor smeghead. He's a little git but I love him.
Also also, I prefer they stick to one time period. I'm a fan of things from before I was born in December 2004, and I'll be horrified if Homer is eventually said to be born around the same time as me. I wish I was born around about the same time as you were; Simpsons followed by Robot Wars sounds awesome, but watching Simpsons on Disney Plus and Robot Wars on here doesn't feel the same, even if I wasn't there at the time. Or even if I was born a decade before that, 1980s and 90s British sitcoms are my favourite things to watch. They have a couple good ones across the pond too: Simpsons obviously, but I like watching Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria in Herman's Head on here too. And my dad is always happy if I stick on a bit of Married With Children or Home Improvement.
It's amazing you went through hundreds of episodes (again) to make this video; I'm sure it wasn't an easy task. This is a fine example of dedication to our favorite yellow family 😊 Thanks for reminding us that Homer, no matter his crazy antics and wacky adventures, deep inside still cares about his family. I love how everybody says the Simpsons is so irrelevant these days, but there's literally 8,000,000 Simpsons commentary/analysis videos on YT. Fun fact: the show will always be great and will always be relevant. After 35 years, I've never lost my love for it. The yellow family is immortal

Not to mention it was also shown that Homer still had the crayon in his brain in the episode(I can’t remember the title) where he broke his jaw and had to have braces which prevented him from talking, backing the theory up even more

Same! And I've just shared this channel with my sister - both having grown up in the 80s and 90s, The Simpsons hold a very special place in our family ❤ absolutely love this content!
I haven’t read the comic and I just use this as background noise when I’m driving so I didn’t see what it said on the page, but my guess is he knew her maiden name. I always thought Mrs. Krabappel was her married name.
I have to admit: it's astonishing seeing the effort that went into this video. It's really amazing what big Simpsons enthusiasts like you guys can do! 🍩💛 Also, what is the clip at 42:57 from?
Homer maybe dumb as a drum but I love him. And this video only increased my admiration for him. Not regarding the flanderisms, homer is such a sweet man.
The reason Homer is so dumb is actually because of the crayons. It was confirmed in a later episode that there was a crayon stuck up in homers brain, and once some doctors removed it, he became much more intelligent than usual.
Homer just rocks...just love him. You know, it has been said that the creators are in talks with Disney to create a young Homer Simpson series and you know, I would love to see that. Do the same thing here, as to what Spongebob did with Patrick Star Show and Camp Koral. Do the prequel, tie everything together that leads to modern day. I really hope they manage this. ''WHOO HOO''

Honestly this just tells me that Homer's life would of been better if some of these events happened differently. Homer in these flashbacks and comics shown that he use to be smart, and even after the simpsons genes hit(as well as the radiation and the crayon cramped into his brain), he was still shown to be talented and gifted, especially when he's motivated enough. But with Mona and Abe arguing all the time, Abe not being supportive of Homer, and Mona and Bongo Leaving because of Mr.Burns... Homer's life up until he married Marge is mostly depressing
17:25 pull those brakes. It just occurred to me. Somewhere transformers statues were stuffed with drugs and were arrested i was like "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?"
I know it's all fiction, but if Homer could reconcile with his son, I have hopes that I can reconcile with my dad too. I love The Simpsons, I've been watching it since I was a kid. Your channel is great!
I kind of think the simpsons show exists as an examination of a family over multiple universes and timeliness. Like Kane and Konos are putting this family and their town through different situations and recording the results that's why they're (or at least used to) be watching Springfield so much.
Hey, so I found 2 predictions in season 20, episode 8, the burns and the bees. The first prediction I saw was the mavericks and the Celtics, now these two nba teams indeed have played each other before, however, this year on June 6, they will be playing each other for the first time in nba history, seemed kind of odd to me, and nobody has actually made any content about it. The other prediction is near the end of the episode. Burns builds a brand new stadium for his basketball team, and bees get released into the stadium, which recently happened with the state farm stadium in Arizona. I think it would be pretty cool if you made a video about these two predictions, as nobody has before. Thanks if you read this comment, also if you do make a video about it, please mention that I found out about it.
I honestly really like Mothers And Other Strangers. I can handwave thinking she's dead through Blunder Years trauma amnesia, I appreciate Mona having issues, and I love the complex feelings.
The Simpsons writers could really benefit from a simplified timeline like this if they ever plan to tackle their lives again within the continuity. If they every do decide to close off a chapter of the Simpson lives, I really do hope they put a lot of effort by respecting the years of work that has been put into shaping these characters.
Y’know, seeing how Mr. Burns is the guy who has stripped Homer of the two things (his mother and dog) he cared deeply about in his life, its retroactively cathartic that Maggie is the one who shot Mr. Burns.
There actually was an episode where homer briefly became smart. After a crayon stuck in his brain, but no one liked him like that but lisa. So he put the crayon back
The Simpsons timeline has been floating since they decided to make "Lisa's First Word". People mostly dislike "That 90's Show" just because it makes them feel old. I, for one, think that part of the charm with the Simpsons is that they're so universal that they can fit in any time and place. Just look at the anthology stories! I do however have some issue with how they've retconned that Homer thought Mona was dead until present day-age. That messes majorly with the history in relation to the characters' lives, independent of our real world time.
Well Krabappel is Edna’s married name from her first husband (the one who ran off with their marriage counselor) so maybe Homer only knew Edna by her maiden name
